Yeah, from what I've seen the major complaint was that the game was too easy. That won't really bother me honestly even if that is the case. I'm not far enough in to make a call on that front. But I can say so far I love the mechanics. Being able to combine abilities from the power ups to get various combinations is fun as heck to me. I'm messing around with that so much. I'm having fun so that's what matters to me regardless of the game's difficulty level.

I kinda like FF2. I don't have a problem with the leveling system, since I already like the SaGa games, I actually prefer the freedom in customizing your characters (except for raising your MP). I also think it has a neat story for an NES game.
Old jrpgs are my thing, I also really like the old Phantasy Star games, the DS remake of FF3 and the GBC versions of the first 3 Dragon Quest games, which do have better graphics and a few quality-of-life improvements, but otherwise are still the same as their old NES versions. Yes, they tend to be full of grinding and tedium, but they have this almost meditative quality to them, you know, slowly and meticulously beating your way through the game, like slowly, zen-like carving something out of wood. It's not really too hard to do it, but you do need patience. I don't know if this makes any sense to you, but it is one of the reasons why I like FF2.

Thanks! Honestly since writing that I have watched a video on how to do them and I still don't really understand it. I think I will just stick to the generic Tetris but I will never win a Tetris 99 match because of it!

Ah okay I get what you mean. Yeah the waterfall monster I encountered a while back had a pretty crazy voice. Yup! It was part of the reason I decided to get this version. Being able to see the encounters makes it so much easier to avoid fighting, and finding metal slimes is much easier. It’s a shame because this version was blasted for its graphics being “terrible” compared to the PS2. Honesty though it’s just noticiable in some cutscenes where the graphics were reduced (like some things such as objects, pathways, or NPCs in a city being removed).

I agree with your opinion on DQ games. They are a bit too long for me, and the challenge makes them drag on, but so far I’ve found if you stick with them they are great. Honestly I’ve liked the voice acting so far! Although that could be because my bar has been set so low by playing Final Fabtasy X recently.

Man, I haven’t played Minecraft in forever. I’m gonna have to pick Builders up one day, I really like the idea with Builders, and having a plot would definitely make that kind of game more enjoyable. Your PS2 is right! You definitely need to finish it! Such a great game! I wish I played this one before IX. I had it sitting in my collection for so long but IX made me so bored with the series. Had no interest in playing it until I finally did beat IX years later. How is Builders? I’m really interested in giving that one a shot.
