Congratulations! That's a toughie! I found the final boss extremely difficult, because I didn't know about that trick until after I'd beaten it a few times; fighting him normally is quite the ordeal. Knowing that trick, though, I agree that the Thunderbird is much harder. It's like the original Final Fantasy, though, in that you're much more likely to die on the way to the boss than during the actual fight.

I can certainly understand that; it's nice to have a space of our own. My thing is that I'd rather we just be normalized, so my ideal is when the ratio is a bit more even. Like Steven Universe. Steven Universe is perfect; it has humans of varying sexualities and a bunch of lesbian space rocks that go on adventures and save the galaxy, and nobody really makes a big deal out of it either way.

I think I'd like to raise a child, but given the environment in which s/he would live, it wouldn't be fair to the child. My sister's planning to have one and adopt another, because she wants one boy and one girl, and how else do you control that? Of course, that whole thing (aside from the adoption part) is sort of a family tradition, and given how much the family is falling apart lately, she might very well have changed her mind on that. I don't think her husband would be a very good father, either; he's not even good at interacting with their cat. Either way, I wish you both the best, no matter what you decide.

That's entirely possible; I still have this theory that I fell to Earth in a meteorite. It's not really much of a detriment, either. Most of the time, when someone mentions smell, it's something bad. Most of the time it's something good, it's food, and why would I want to make myself hungry for something before it's ready to eat? Also, I can still taste food when I'm congested, because I didn't live my whole life smelling something as I'm eating it. Okay, so sometimes, my lady has to sniff things in the fridge for me to figure out whether it's still edible; that's about it.

I got as far as the chase in the third level, and that's about where I stopped; I feel like it needs a checkpoint, though I can understand how that might be tough to implement. I love the atmosphere and music, but the level design in the third level is a bit... tight? Maybe cramped is a better word. Other than that, it's great, and I can't wait to see the finished product! The third level's aesthetic reminds me a bit of Eversion.

Hello. I saw you flying by the home page. Backlog beaten? Twitter feed? Low count? More of a Nintendo person? Quite a coincidental combo because it appears I too have all the same stuff! Beaten backlog, Nintendo interests, etc. etc.

I'm pretty interested in what you're playing according to your game lists, so you don't mind another multitap, do you? I'd like to get to know the community more instead of gaming forever alone, which I was doing for a while.

It is nice to see Wind Waker getting the recognition that it deserves, which might even be partially responsible for the new one's open world design. I have yet to see for myself how well they did with it, but I'm sure I'll play it some day. I've seen icons of all of the weapons at Spriters' Resource, and some of them look really cool!

For the Switch!? Damn, we've come a long way from Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, haven't we? It seems like an odd thing for a Nintendo console, or any console, for that matter. At any rate, it does pretty well in that aspect, but at times, it seemed a bit... pandering to me. Undertale came off that way to me, too. Didn't harm my enjoyment, and it's still the best game I've played in quite some time, though. Either way, it's nice to see queer life portrayed as normal; it might just bother me equally when it's demonized and when it's treated like a super big deal.

You're younger, though; it's a bit more common to see that these days. The funny thing is that my parents got married pretty young - 19 and 18 - and everyone thought it was a shotgun wedding. I come from a family of collectors, myself, but I didn't really inherit that; my OCD used to require me to have full sets of everything, but I've gotten past that aspect of it. I have a lot of games, but they're all games that I want; I don't have anything that I got just for the sake of collection, like a Power Glove or anything. My lady and I are not fit to raise children, and she hates children, so that's probably not going to happen. I just never know what to say to small children, either.

Yeah, some of it I can't even adequately put into words, but I've been like this my whole life. I've heard that it can be caused temporarily by LSD, but as I've never tried it, I can't really confirm that. My sister has it, too, and all of her senses work just fine, so I have more evidence to support that notion that it's hereditary than I do that it has to do with missing senses. Of course, nobody else in my family has it, so I don't think it's hereditary, either. I had to prove my anosmia, though, which I did by stuffing my face into a pitcher of freshly blended wild horseradish, and inhaling deeply. The fact that it didn't melt my face was proof enough.

Cool! I'm hoping to try it out at some point this week.

I've seen more positivity about Zelda 2, also, but only here at Backloggery. Then again, I don't spend much time in any other social nook online, so I suppose it stands to reason; I'd just written it off as a coincidence that a bunch of my friends were playing it. Majora's Mask EXPLODED when it was rereleased for the 3DS, but that seems to happen with any Zelda release or rerelease; the same thing happened with the formerly polarizing Wind Waker.

I'm sure that I'll hit you up when the time comes. Oh, and perhaps I might be so presumptuous as to give a recommendation of my own! I just finished an Adventure similar in gameplay to Shadowgate called 2064: Read Only Memories, which is one of the best damn games I've ever played. It's a cyberpunk game, but brighter and more colorful than you'd expect. It's mostly about AI, but there's also a lot about queer politics, both subtle and painfully obvious; both direct and allegorical. I can't think of any characters I hated, either; I loved most of them. It's also on sale right now at GOG, if you're interested.

I feel like I remember something like that in Melee, as well, but I'm probably just thinking of alternate songs. I don't think that I had too many hand-me-downs; my parents were 27 when I was born, which isn't all that unusual today, but it just didn't happen back in those days, so I'm pretty sure they weren't ever planning to have children, and thus, wouldn't have had their old stuff. Adding to that suspicion is that whenever I'd say that I didn't want kids, they'd always say, "Oh, you'll change your mind; we didn't want kids at your age, either." They got awful quiet once I hit 27. I'm much better at raising teenagers and twenty-somethings, anyway.

Synaesthesia is becoming more and more recognized lately, it seems. The one that you and I discussed is the most common manifestation, but all sorts of senses can cross. In fact, I can see sound, hear color, and have every possible sensory crossing, except smell, because I was born without a sense of smell. I may have been able to make sense of higher math, but I had a really dumb geometry teacher (I'm convinced that she didn't know the material), and since math builds on itself, I was totally boned from there on up.

Sure, I'm down, but I can't guarantee that I'll be very timely about it; I've been a bit chaotic lately.

Yeah, I think the only one that still has an overall negative reception is Adventure of Link. It wasn't always that way, either; when it first came out, it was well liked. Once I got on the Internet, I started to find that most people I encountered thought of it as a bad game. Nobody seemed to like Majora's Mask when it came out, either, but it wasn't a matter of having a bad reception; it was more like it had no reception. I remember hearing about it when it was still called Zelda Gaiden, and then... nothing at least until Wind Waker was already out. It became like this weird, lost Zelda game, and that alone intrigues me.

I may just take you up on that, but first, I'm going to try to get a handle on what I have already. Between you and my other friend, I'm likely to get a lot out of this gem mine; she's introduced me to the likes of Anachronox, Albion, and The Real Texas. That and figuring out how to use DOSBox.

Yeah, and isn't the Magicant stage able to keep changing as the fight progresses? I've heard about it, but I haven't played much of the newest Smash Bros. game; I tried a few rounds, but I didn't like it. I think I had a car phase, too, but that was a very long time ago. It's probably true; I was a bit of a tomboy growing up, not because of my own desires, but because my dad REALLY wanted a son. I usually prefer the Racers that aren't realistic, like Mario Kart and its ilk, though I've always liked the Road Rash games; I'm a big fan of motorcycles, and they come in such lovely colors in Road Rash.

I usually blame my synaesthesia; it reacts more to instrumentation than to actual pitch or tone, and that's how I learned to understand music. Same with math; I'm a living calculator when it comes to the basics, because it's just recognizing color patterns, but once you get into trigonometry, it's just vomiting rainbows into my eyes. Oh, the one with the drum samples? I couldn't follow that one, either. Yeah, that's the thing that I can do! I can extend video game tracks, too, because that's just by ear. Oh, and I beat Mother 3; can't do that without some kind of rhythm.

The new demo looks great, by the way; I see that it's further along than it was when I last played it.

I have no doubt the game would run great on your computer, but I can’t blame you for waiting for the Switch release. Games like that really do have a similar look to them. I really should play Grow Home at some point. Oh, and how are you liking Snake Pass? That is another one I would like to pick up. Looking forward towards your next demo.

Thank you for the explanation on the new Mario Kart mechanics. Being able to drift while braking gives me hope for 200cc, so thanks for that too. And I guess the game is called Mario Kart after all.

Congrats on getting your game on a let's play!

Just came off watching the vid and it's neat to see how far the game has come since the first (one of the first?) demos (back when it went until walking across town and the spookiest thing was an infinite drop down). Glad to see the progress.
