I mean focusing on those three could be fine, but the story felt so... tame. Not necessarily asking for Adventure like plots again but kinda wished for something like the comics or the Storybook games.

I should pick up the comics though. 🤔 I did like what I read. It was nice to see Silver in something that isn't 06 lol.

Yeah agreed on all. People really had me thinking Forces was like ultra bad or something, but I think it was just decent at worse? I enjoyed playing through, some things needing fleshed out more. Classic Sonic's stages were good but boy I agree he was completely shoehorned in.

Am hoping the next Sonic game polishes up the story though. I liked that Forces brought back a variety of characters too (I'll probably get Colors Ultimate but my problem with the original Colors was how it was just Sonic, Eggman, and a little bit of Tails)

Ahh, I've played so many JRPGs at this point that these kinds of "default" stories don't bother me too much. I tend to focus more on impactful moments of the journey instead of the story as whole so even if the game boils down to "go beat the baddy", if the characters are serviceable and the action is interesting I'll still be "hell yeah beat his fuckin ass " lol

The Digimon building is definitely where most of my interest comes from, having the freedom to break the game as you see fit make these kinds of games super fun. The Bravely series serving as a good example.

I do worry about how long it might take to get to that point, though. I've been spoiled by the Trails games for having a Turbo Mode that speeds the menial parts up to 6x speed, so if Cybersleuth likes to take its sweet time I'll prolly shelf it for now. That said, I AM planning to play Lisa: The Painful next which, as the name suggests, seems to be all about delivering a painful, slow burn to the player, so iunno
