Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten
A password system is super nice. Maybe that is why Splatterhouse 2 isn't too difficult. Granted, Castlevania III has a password system and that game is incredibly hard. So, hopefully, you'll be able to Splatterhouse 2 as well this summer!

Yeah, I've been slightly hesitant about Shining in the Darkness because of First Person Dungeon Crawling, but I've heard glowing reviews from several people. I'm willing to go in with an open mind, so hopefully it should be enjoyable. Shining Force is a perfect and great starter SRPG. It's not overly long or complex, which is great for that genre.

I think importing has gotten so much easier recently with the advent of the Retron 5. Before, it was more confusing and hard to do. Now, people can buy the JPN version, attach an English patch and you are playing the English game. Ducktales 2 and Chip N Dale 2 used to be super cheap in Japan, but now they are going up in price because of that very reason.

Wow, I never knew about the Game Genie. I should definitely look into that. Unfortunately, my Repro/JPN/Intl releases are much larger on the SNES compared to the Genesis. For the Genesis, I only really want Alien Soldier, maybe Golden Axe III, MM: The Wily Wars, Monster World IV and Pulseman. For SNES/NES, it is so much longer mostly because of the RPG's.

*Laughs* Yeah, getting hit in 1942 is just painful. I don't think it has that annoying beeping, though I could be wrong. I have only played it in the Arcade and that did have other music being played at the time.

I haven't played Splatterhouse 2 myself, but I was going by from what I have heard. I definitely wouldn't call it easy, but I still think it is doable. You have some hard games under your belt, so I can't imagine it being much harder. I'll be very curious to hear about Shining as I own that as well, but haven't played it. I've only played Shining Force and I absolutely loved that game!

It's funny, but SOR3 is actually less expensive than BK3. I think people are realizing the difficulty and the better game, so they are buying BK3. I own a Repro of the game as that is the only way for me to play import games. Here is that moment, immortalized: [Link] One of the best endings to a BL game in recent memory!

Aero Wings is a pretty crazy SNK SHMUP. It's pretty traditional arcade vertical shooter that had a port to the SNES that is now super expensive. It is co-op and has several different characters with several different planes and the storylines are complete bonkers. One of them is a dolphin and another you play as a woman in a wedding dress. It is very silly fun. Another suggestion, in the same vein, would be 1944. It is a continuation of the 1942 series and features co-cop and a pretty crazy shmup as well.

Thanks for the add back. I will make sure to give you a heads up of any shmups that I come across. A few weeks ago, I played Keio Flying Squadron for the Sega CD. If you want a fantastic and very fair cute-em-up, then give that one a shot!
The greater the difficulty, the more glory in surmounting it.
