Congrats on beating "Minish Cap"! That's nice that you have the ambassador's title release. I have the original GBA cart. I gotta say, I'm really glad "Breath of the Wild" released this month because I was getting to that point of feeling stagnant and really eyeing a new Fire Emblem or Zelda game to start up. But now that BotW is out, I love it! Also congrats on your 2016 progress stats! I don't really care to look at what mine were.. lol

I get that entirely. Sucks that I've invested those 30 hours and won't get to see the ending. Or I guess I could see it but it would require replaying on a different console. Actually I wonder if you can transfer saves from PSP to PS3. If that's the case and it's just a PSP issue that's causing the crash well that'd be just great.

I picked XCOM: Enemy Unkown for my replacement X game but if I can transfer saves I will likely switch back to Xenogears.

Yeah, it's open world, so once you pass the first tutorial area you can go wherever you want whenever you want. I've heard you can even make a beeline right for the final boss if you're daring enough. I don't know how it compares to MMOs, it's been so long since I even tried one.

EDIT: Turns out it's super easy to copy PS1 Classic saves from PSP to PS3. Dunno why it took so long to think of that.

(Part 2)

As for me, I have indeed started up some RPGs since then. I played Stranger of Sword City for a good bit and am close to finishing it. It's a dungeon RPG on Vita and as I know that you're someone who can appreciate a good handheld DRPG I really have to say that I'd recommend you giving it a try. It's a really fun game.
Despite of how good it is though, the game has actually come to a bit of a halt for me right now.
It's because of Shadowrun Returns another RPG that I started afterwards and finished already. I really enjoyed the, setting, gameplay and art of SoSC, but SR just swept me away with it's dystopian world of corruption, corporations, cyberdecks and crime. It's a mixture of a dark slightly futuristic earth + fantasy and magic and I adore it to bits. So much in fact that -after finishing it- I moved on to the second game in the series Shadowrun: Dragonfall.

So, uhm, I know you wanted to keep it short, erh, whoopsie. Guess that didn't work out so well on my side. Hahaha, sorry about that. No worries though, I know you're busy enough as it is and always have several comments to reply to. So like I said before I know it takes time to get around to this. You are also free to keep your side of the conversation brief of course.
I just hope you don't mind me blabbering on there for a bit.

Yeah I sure added a game or two to my backlog. That's no biggy though, I dare say. Regardless of the additions I think I'm on a pretty good course with eleven / games so far, especially compared to 2016, since I only finished thirteen games over the entirety of of that year.
Oh and it's also no biggy that you take a bit before you get around to replying, really. I know how it can be and I'm the last person who would ever feel bothered by someone else not replying right away. haha.

So much about solving the mysteries of the Labyrinth then. Maybe you'll find your way back into EO once you finished up your adventure in Hyrule (or wherever that games may take place) Thanks for giving me your impressions on Minish Cap. Backtracking often has the danger of being tedious in itself, doesn't get better if it involves a game-mechanic. Still good to hear that you're generally enjoying it. Best of luck on finishing it and wrapping everything up.

I can certainly relate to the feeling of a long RPG burning you out on other long ones or on RPGs in general for a while. Plus, while I personally have no experience with the Fire Emblem series, I recall you calling it "bland and boring". That is certainly not helping in making one feel excited for another long RPG. I also remember that you played the original version of SMT IV already, so playing what is just an upgraded version of it doesn't even have the novelty factor to it.
SMT IV is one of the reasons I still really need to get myself a 3DS btw. I'm a big fan of the series and I just have to play that one as well. Oh well, eventually.

We are...my god. Well I don't mind if you are, so don't worry about it.

Tell me about it. It's been long enough I forgot what we last talked about.
Oh okay. I was wondering how you were and if things were hunky dorey (is that how you say it? That's how I've always said it), so I'm glad you're still kicking it at least. Of course I won't pry, but I'm glad you superdashed through the year all strong and stuff regardless.

I'm alright! The backlog only grows despite me beating 100 games a year, so clearly buying indie titles has become a bane of my existence. Aside that someone who sits next to me at worked sneezed and I chuckled, then I sneezed an hour later. Oh no. No colds...I'm too busy for that.

A little shallow of me but honestly it's because it felt rather dated. I played for about 5 hours I think and just couldn't take the combat+the dungeon exploration. It wasn't even that the game was bad or anything I just had other things I'd rather spend my time on ya know?

and sorry for the initial short response, I'm like ridiculously lazy and just fire out words that come into my mind when I'm responding to people :P

Interesting to see that you played through the original Etrian Odyssey, any reason you didn't play Untold with all the quality of life improvements it added?

Whenever I see screens of Minish Cap or even just read its name I'm tempted to get the game myself. How are you liking it so far, if you don't mind me asking?

Also, I just noticed that you went back to Etrian Odyssey to tackle the 6th stratum. Props for that.
I could never jump back into a game after such a long time. If I'm ever going to try my hand at it I will have to restart all over. Best of luck at tackling the deepest depths (or was it highest heights?) of the dungeon.

Patience is key when you wanna get way too many games as i do, but you're not rich, like not at all, as i am, but hey, if you want a thing, you have the cash for it, makes sense to me to just get it. (not gonna shame you for it or anything stupid like that, i want too much stuff and here is my collection, way too big XD)

Patience and memory, since Nintendo (or everybody, as of now) makes ports or "complete edition" way quicker than before, so it's best to way to get all the DLC stuff bundled, or just do the price deflagration do it's thing. Actually, it doesn't matter too much with Nintendo, since they still have this tendency to keep their stuff at premium price, like i haven't seen FE Awakening get a serious price drop even on used copies.

About FE Fates, i hold off on that since i heard this rumor of Nintendo doing a "complete edition" with all chapters/stories for a Switch re-release, and i was kinda disappointed to not see it in the Fire Emblem Direct, but ..... who knows.

I'm glad they are making Fire Emblem (all of a sudden, frankly) a front-runner series, seems odd, but i'm glad we're getting Echoes and FE Heroes for smarthphone is great, is a "gacha" but damn it's a great translation of the FE gameplay to ios/Android, solid, solid stuff. Of course i'm excited about Fire Emblem Warriors.

Like you, i'm more interested now, but i'm not gonna rush to buy any of them, not that is gonna make the GBA ones any cheaper to find used, even as cartridge only, especially the first one to be released here in the west. same for the DS remake of Shadow Dragon.

Yeah, Shiren is indeed intimidating (losing jar of useful and ultrarare item you worked hard to get and keep for future use can be really frustrating), sorry about that, but never say never!

Yeah, too bad i'll be forced to do another "shopping adventure" since i recently came back to the Gamestop closer to me, and they all of a sudden removed all PS2 titles, was hoping to get like 2 or 3 on-rail shooter for 5 bucks or something, didn't expect that, guess they moved them to another Gamestop (would be a waste to just get rid of them, they thrive on used games, pretty much). Maybe i should do it sooner than expected, given how Gamestop as a business is dying, and i'm gonna cry over it, at all, frankly, since they are a really scummy company (way before the Kotaku decided to do an article about their "circle of life" system, which always existed in some form, old news).

If you feel up to it, I hope you'll be able to give Resident Evil 3 what's coming to it. Crashes would sap my patience very quickly. On the topic of patience, I've finally had to put Xenoblade aside for now when I started realizing I'm not enjoying it, but basically forcing myself to keep at it (and even with that going very slowly). Lest I forget *why* I'm a gamer, I had to park it for now and play something I am actually having fun with. Enter Dragon Quest VII!

Spirit of Justice's DLC is one additional case and the two much shorter and humorous "Asinine Attorney" skits which take like half an hour each. So it was mostly that bonus case that took me two more days. All in all I set a pretty good pace on this game, clearing its 50 hours within the month - that's how I game if I *am* having a good time, I guess!

I was I think 6-7 hours into Mass Effect 2. Nothing that can't be redone, once I have the PC set up again. Its new video card is inside (took far too long to actually have it delivered but no matter, it's done). Did that with a co-worker's help at the office and took the PC home, but forgot its power cord, which is still at the company. And so the PC is still useless until I pick it up - and that's hindered by being home sick as a flu-like virus finally took hold of me. They usually fail. Not this one. :P

Happy backloggiversary also!

I also enjoyed Awakening more than FEif. The next FE is a remake of FE Gaiden. It's a average RPG game and when you have to fight an enemy, it becomes a map like the FE games. The Ambassador FE is the one you mentioned. It was my first FE game. It's easier compared to the other GBA games.
I haven't played Gravity Rush 2 that much, I can't play a game for 1+ hour without getting very tired of it but it's really good. It looks like this time they gave a good budget for the team. It hasn't sold that much in the west tho. Appart from GR2, I don't see games to my interest. Maybe the new Nier but I don't like what the series have become. I think a lot of people are now interested in Nier and Drakengard 3 because of the fanservice and I didn't liked Drakengard 3 so I'm going to wait for the reviews or the price drop.

Skyrim is a massive accomplishment to be able to play on the go! Yes, the Nintendo Switch is a handheld that you can plug into your TV(Although you don't ever have to use a TV if you don't don't want to!) The good thing about the Switch version of Disgaea 5 is that all the DLC will be included on the card, thus giving the game that title of Disgaea 5 Complete.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is easily the most ambitious title in this legendary franchise. It looks stunning in all the trailers so far. From what I gather the goal was to have one massive open world and be able to select dungeons at whatever order the player wanted. I would comfortably draw numerous comparisons between this and Skyrim.

I Am Setsuna looks to be a great day one launch title on the Switch! A very unique RPG for sure, the Switch looks to be already building up promising RPGs with the likes of Disgaea 5, Project Otcopath Traveler, untitled SMT game, untitled Fire Emblem game, Dragon Quest X/ XI, Skyrim, untitled Tales of game and of course Xenoblade Chronicles 2!

Super Mario Odyssey is a 3D platformer, the reason so many people are excited that the overall feel and appearance of this game reminds many people of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. I think it looks cool enough, even though I'm not that big of a Mario fan :D

The 3DS is going to stick around for a while yet due to 2016 having better 3DS sales then either 2014 or 2015. Pokemon Sun/Moon definitely played a major part in that for sure. I would gamble that there will be a price sometime this year to help drive sales even further. Perhaps this will help bring EO V to the west!

The recent Fire Emblem announcements have been tremendous! Fire Emblem Warriors for Nintendo Switch/New Nintendo 3DS is a action game fusing the characters of Fire Emblem with the gameplay of Dynasty/Samurai Warriors. If you've played Hyrule Warriors then expect more of the same

The Nintendo Switch actually launches very soon, like in three weeks soon :P On March 3rd, the system launches globally with a light launch line-up. The end of 2017 should see roughly close to 60 Switch games and apparently many more in development.

Yeah it's a real shame because I was decently far into it and I was even making some progress, but that just killed any motivation I still had for it. Ah well, you win some, you lose some, no sense in getting down about a video game.
