Skirmishes are actually harder then the actual story missions in this game. I believe the enemies are like the average level between your top 4 units or something.

Game is pretty brutal compared to past Fire Emblems, it's why I have to bench some people instead of leveling them up equally.

"Trying to get all of Dimitri and Dedue's supports completed before I hit the end..."

Just a heads up, most of the Blue Lions actually aren't recruitable in other routes if you're trying to be a completionist (I think the only ones are Mercedes and Ashe. As opposed to a decent amount of Black Eagles or Golden Deer that would join.)
