Well, MMOs are sort of a hobby in and of itself. Almost like a different branch of videogames.

And yes, what you speak of is exactly one of the reasons why I don't play MMOs. I would have to dedicate myself to them completely and miss out on all the other gems out there. And I like too many genres to be able to miss out on so much.

Yeah, the Backloggery has been going strong for over a decade now. But, I mean, many social websites of this generation thrive. It's this age of the internet. It will change someday. Maybe soon, who knows.
