Sigh. I really wish I could have a completion added to my Backloggery list for each account with which complete a game! I do have more than one...sigh... goodness I am tired. Silly of me to stay up so late...

Okay, so you know how in Cloud's flashback in Kalm, there were all those people in Nibelheim: the original residents? Then, the whole damn thing burns to ashes, and when you get there, it's been rebuilt, and new people likely sent there to cover it all up (unless it's all some sort of eerie illusion) pretend that it never happened? But you notice something isn't quite right, namely all those black cloaked figures, rasping about "The Reunion", but until later in the game, you have no idea what they're talking about, and they're only made all the more creepy by the fact that none of the current residents even acknowledge their existence; even Cloud and his pals don't point out how out-of-place and weird they are. Like most story-heavy games of the time, your party members are CONSTANTLY telling you what they (often seems what to) think and feel about what's going on at any given point in time, but here, they don't; they don't act like anything's out of the ordinary, aside from the very obviously not-burnt town that was supposed to have been destroyed 5 years ago.

So, pay close attention to where they're all standing: it's the same places that the original townspeople used to hang out; they are the original townspeople. Charred, disfigured, possibly once dead victims of a horrific fire that wiped out the entire town, now pumped full of Jenova's cells (they were right there), now left to wander aimlessly, until they either reunite with the original Sephiroth, or drop dead again, which all of them wind up doing. What's more horrific is the way that I finally realized this. I'm playing this on an emulator for the first time, and as such, the image is sharper, so I'm noticing things of which I'd only been vaguely aware. Upstairs in one of the houses, you'll find 2 cloaked figures that I'd always thought were smaller, but now, are very obviously quite tiny. Remember those 2 children that would repeat each other's words from the flashback? Those are 2 tiny mutant burn victims, driven insane from experimentation.
Pretty goddamn spooky, I'd say.

That's not a bad idea, but I find it difficult to focus on two things at once. Maybe by now After Years has forced me through the same dungeons so many times I could manage it.
