> How are the Ori games?

Good games, but IMO the praise they get is excessive. I think there's some pretty major flaws in the games, in particular in the first one.

> My reflexes aren't what they used to be but I like a metroidvania, would I enjoy it?

Honestly, not sure.

They have tricky and unforgiving platforming sections, and can get really frustrating because there's a lot of trial-and-error involved and one small mistake means restarting the whole sequence.

IMO the first game also has an issue with the plataforming controls - maybe I've been spoiled by games like Mario and Celeste, but they felt "floaty" and not accurate enough for the kind of precise platforming they were asking for.

The story is fantastic and I cannot wait to start YK2, but I really REALLY had it with the controls in the first one, even on a DualSense controller. I hope YK2's controls are better!

Sorry, just saw you message about DQM. I always forget to check my messages.

If you’re just progressing to beat the story I’d say it isn’t too grindy at all honesty. I just 100% it though and THAT was absurdly grindy.

Persona 3 Reload was great! Haven't played the original 3 in a very long time so was a fun revisit, and Reload improves on the gameplay so much while not really messing at all with the fantastic story. Still probably my least favorite of the "modern" Persona games since the social links are overall pretty weak and there are so many days where there really isn't anything to do, but still a really, really good game overall.

I'm loving it! Persona 3 (specifically FES) is my favorite Persona and one of my favorite games so it's been a treat coming back. They've made so many new additions and changes. I'm a fan of nearly all of them and it's been a fun, addicting time

Someone commenting about Cassette Bests? Let me add another recommendation, I finished this one recently and loved it.

Not usually a fan of monster capture games but I could not stop playing it for days, and even after finishing it I still come back from time to time for short play sessions hunting rogue fusions or completing the beastiary.

Only "bad" things I can say about the game is that the DLC is way too short (~2h to beat), not sure if it's worth paying extra for it.

Cassette Beasts was amazing! I'm a huge Pokémon nerd at heart and it was a fun twist on the Monster Tamer genre and a pleasure to 100%! Fantastic sprite work, the vocal tracks always hyped me up, five-starring beasts kept my team constantly rotating and trying new abilities! It's definitely become an all-time fav for me!

Whoops, I'm a few months late on seeing your comment because I game pretty slowly and check this site rarely, sorry about that. To answer your question I actually dropped R1999 almost immediately because it dawned on me that I play too many gacha games as it is and couldn't handle keeping up with another. It's a shame because I like the artstyle/character designs, the story seems interesting and the English voice acting is cool with all the accents, but I'm trying to prioritize regular games more often so it's just not the right game for me right now. (I realize this looks silly when I ended up playing Snowbreak afterwards, but it interested me since it was something different and in the end I still don't play it that much either. Mind you I don't spend money on gacha games so it's more the time investment that gives me issues.)

So yeah, nothing wrong with the game itself if you're into gacha/RPGs/the British. I just think personally I'll probably watch the story on YouTube or something someday instead of playing it.

13 Sentinels was amazing. Can't recommend it enough. One of those games you're sad to see end. Is any other studio as consistently fantastic as Vanillaware?

The game is more popular for the story sections but I agree with you, I really enjoyed the battle gameplay and spent a ton of time replaying battles and upgrading mechs.

Also, the OST for those sections is godly.

Anyway, glad you're enjoying it. It's one of my favorite games in recent years, even double-dipped recently and got the Switch version on a sale, planning on a replay once it arrives.

Looking forward to their new game in a couple of months, as usual looks fantastic and I'm a huge fan of strategy games.
