Indeed! I did word it poorly. It's a... delicate balance, I suppose. Desperate Struggle is utterly insane; it stomps on the continuity put in place with the first game, it breaks the fourth wall whenever convenient, and it simply laughs off the important questions that were left unanswered. But fans of the original comprehend the insanity, even if it is still insane and supposed to not make a lot of sense.

I think that it's safe to say that TWEWY is one of the absolute best RPGs I have ever played. It's got a great setting, great music, great graphics, dialogue, everything. It's definitely one of those games where it gives you a story, and you can take it at face value according to Hemingway's iceberg theory, but once you start to delve into the post-game stuff (Another Day, secret reports, pin collection) there's so much deeper supernatural happenings going on in the background. The only thing that I can say was bad about it was the fact that the touch-screen controls were a little bit wonky sometimes, and some pins were absolutely useless (eg, anything by Mus Rattus and many of the Natural Puppy pins). It's definitely one of those games were you either love it or hate it. I haven't seen people who go "yea, I guess I liked it... a little." So get it, you won't be disappointed.

The PS3 is certainly not worth owning just for one game, no. If/when you do pick one up, however, Demon's Souls is well worth the money. As for not playing the original No More Heroes... eh. Desperate Struggle points out that some players probably haven't tried it, and uses that as a reason to not explain what has happened in the three years since the end of the first game. The story itself doesn't become nonsensical if you haven't played the first No More Heroes, but the enjoyment is somewhat depreciated because you wouldn't have any idea who any of the people are (for example... Skelter Helter, the tutorial boss, is the younger brother of Helter Skelter, who Travis kills in the opening sequence of the first game). It's not too big of a deal, though. The references are for the fans of the first game and for no one else. Besides, the story is such zany bullshit that it doesn't matter too much anyway.

Well, don't just take my word for it. I'm a bit jaded when it comes to RPGs these days. I feel that it's a solid enough title, I'm just not patient enough to enjoy it like I should. If you have the point, I'd try the main story first (the initial download) and then go from there. I've been leveling in DQ4 when I have the time. To get everything, you have to beat an optional boss 8 times. While he doesn't get any stronger from fight to fight (*glares at DQ8*), I still beat him by the skin of my ass the first time. So, levels, lots of them, everywhere.

Oh TWEWY. Both the US and the UK Amazon have it (though the US one is admittedly cheaper, $20 compared to £22) You should get it, it's super fantastic ![]()

Yes, Demon's Souls kicks your ass pretty thoroughly-- if you're unprepared. If you're cautious in exploration and hyper-defensive in combat, like myself, you're only caught off guard by bosses you've never had experience fighting before.
