Been trying, kinda sorta, to half-assedly update this thing, but I'm quickly starting to recall why I gave up bothering a while back. Dunno if I'll stick with it or not, and even if I do it'll still take a while.

So I've finally updated this thing after however long... but it was only so that I could go in and tag pretty much every console game I owned prior to today with the little "Formerly Owned" ghost.

I still might and should come back someday and add in all the Steam and GOG and whatever else games that I've bought since whenever I stopped bothering to update this thing, but don't hold your breath on that.

Regarding Pirates, I'm guessing it's the newer one. says copyright 2006 on the back of the box, although it plays much like the 1987 one that I remember playing back in the day. Overall I think it's worth picking up, particularly if you can get it cheap like i did. (10 dollars at Wal-mart)

I get distracted running around sinking random ships and pirates all the time so I haven't been getting too far on the actual "path to revenge" plot of the game. I guess that's part of it's charm in that you can technically ignore all the quests regarding saving your family members and just go pirating!

For the most part the changes seem to be with just how things are displayed. Use of 3D, etc.

Let me know how Star Ocean goes. Particularly of bugs and what kind of content they ripped out for DLC. ^^ I can forgive them for having optional non-important DLC, but I'm remaining tough on bugs, even if patched. (As I keep my games for generations, last thing I want is to have a game-breaking bug to deal with after having to replace the console's harddrive and MS pulling patch support for the console by then, etc etc.
