Hiya!

True that. Gust fans aren't too common since they don't get much press for their work.

That happened to me, too XD AI3 was my first RPG and my first Gust game. The atmosphere the games generate just blew me away. AI2 is still my favorite Atelier game, though it's slipped to number 3 all time. It's sad that we never got any of the older games outside of Japan.

Yeah, it's way more fast paced than AI1 and I think the ease of backtracking on the map makes it seem faster, too. Haha, yeah, that fight is rough unprepared. I use the godly alchemy loops to an extent, spam the cure crystals just about every turn with Viese, and let Felt & Fee handle the damage in that fight.

I don't know that they'll ever really go back to that style, though. Gust seems to be tailoring their core style more towards incorporating elements of that old style, so it's a bit of a hybrid, but it's more character driven than story driven. I just hope the newest entry is better than the last.

DQVII is great if you really love interacting with towns people. That's basically the huge brunt of the game, and it's nice cause you kinda get to know everyone and then events will happen and all their dialogue changes (as well as other things) and it's jus kinda fun to dig into for me x3

If that's not something you're into than it's probably gonna feel kinda bland maybe? xD I know lots of people complain about it because of the length but I never even notice myself :3

"The majority of that time was spent falling asleep."

Well that IS what the game is all about! x3

There's a lot of reasons why I didn't enjoy FFXII. The main character isn't even part of the story, nor is his companion. During cutscenes later in the game, they are just hanging out in the background not contributing because they're just kids who don't actually know what is going on. Furthermore, as you progress through the game it starts to feel like the story really loses its vigor.

The one thing I really found enjoyable about the game were the monster hunts, but the later ones just get ridiculous. For example, one of them requires you to be in this zone when it is raining... however, there's only a very narrow possibility that it will be raining, so you just have to keep zoning in and out and pray that it will be raining. I did this for about a half hour before I gave up and just left to finish the game.

The worst of all, in my opinion, is the battle system. It's nothing like other Final Fantasy games, which could have been an interesting step forward, but instead it's just... Crap. You set up "gambits" to control what your character does during a fight and from there out it is automated. You mostly just sit back and watch your team fight the battle.

All that said, I do know quite a few people who really like the game so it may be worth giving it a try anyway.

Also, it's a very, very beautiful game. The environments, especially later on, are gorgeous. They did a wonderful job designing the world and bringing it to life. That may be the only praise I can give it.

I hope this helps.

Thank you. I still want to get a few more DS games to round out my collection though. Not too many more because it's already probably too big.

Oh yeah, Granstream Saga was a really fun game and I really enjoyed the battle system and characters in it, but yeah, I'm definitely one of those people who were disappointed by how short the game was and the whole "Hi! I'll be your last boss for the evening!". I can't stand it when games do that. Last bosses need to have a sense of purpose too to make you care about them just as you would the protagonists.

Anyhow if you enjoyed the 4th game of the Heaven and Earth Enix series, definitely check out the others if you have not played them already. Illusion of Gaia is my favorite, with Terranigma and Soul Blazer being after that.

Thanks so much! I'm really looking forward to it, and I hope you'll enjoy it too when you get access to it. I think the series itself is really great, so I'm really excited to see how this game turns out. Let me know what you think of it when you get a chance to play it, I'd really like to know how you feel about the game!
