I hated the minigames in 3, so I cut my losses early. I think the first one is my favorite, too; it's cool how you can find treasure most anywhere, rather than knowing that there's always one hidden in each stage. Good to know about 4; thanks!

I'm so glad that I managed to get the New Play Control Pikmin 2 on launch day, for the incredible price of 20 USD, like all of the other games in the Nintendo Selects line (I'm not sure why they branded it that way)! Everybody seemed to have missed out on the game since the Wii U was just announced a few days prior and all attention was on that.

Thanks, I just beat all yours too, you've got some creative bosses. I was afraid some of mine were too tough, my "easier" ones haven't been cleared by hardly anybody.

Mindegyik ugyanolyan (jó), van 1-2 ami eltér a szokásos formulától. A triple deluxnál pl a jól bevált stílust alkalmazták.

Yeah, but I'm still missing a few pieces of the melody.

I played Mother about 12 years ago and got to Mt. Itoi (was never able to beat the game), but it's been so long I can't remember everything I have to do. And I'm trying to avoid using walkthroughs. I just got the melody from the cactus in Yucca Desert, and I'm now in the fortress after using the tank to defeat the robot.

The TurboGrafx-16 nails it again! Right on the title screen, you have the option for button control - what I'm familiar with the game having, and what you described - or lever control. Lever control is using the d-pad to move and the button to jump. You know, like any reasonable Platformer would do. It makes the game a lot more playable. This one has 32 rounds (8 trips), though, so it's a bit longer.

The original Arcade game was pretty much the same, too; I first played it on my sister's Namco Museum Volume 3 on the PSX, which was the same time that I discovered Dig Dug, which I also love. Yeah, I hadn't even heard about this version. I mean, it's on the PC Engine, so that's not a huge surprise, but what a wonderful thing to exist!

I'd tried that and the Arcade version before, and just couldn't slog through them; I love the concept, but the game is just so slow and clunky, but the TurboGrafx-16 version moves at a reasonable pace. Interestingly enough, the TurboGrafx-16 version has different reveal methods for many of the treasures, but has a lot of secondary treasures that use some of the old ones. You can also switch between the different swords/armor/etc. that you've gotten thus far, which is advantageous, because they have little bonuses on top of their power. It also has light RPG elements; after each floor, you get to add a point to health, strength, shield, walk speed, attack speed, or number of pickaxe uses, and at any time, you can reduce them back down again and put them into other categories. It's a really neat concept, and an absolutely magical fix for a broken old game; it's like a dream come true for me: the Tower of Druaga that I'd always wanted.

Oh, okay. I've just been hearing so much about the boob 3D that I keep thinking I'm the only one that doesn't think it's such a big thing.

I'm pretty stoked for Half-Genie Hero, too. As for artstyle, I don't see much of a difference between Pirate's Curse and Risky's Revenge, though it's been almost a year since I've played the latter.

Well, I don't know anything about that; I cannot see depth, so I can't see the 3D, either. Whenever I turn on the 3D, all I see are the 2 screens inside the 3DS that they use to create the effect. Enhanced boobs wouldn't make a difference to me anyway, though; I already have a pair that walks around my house and sleeps next to me every night. They snore like a woodchipper, though. That and I'm not all that into boobs; oddly enough, even though I tend to lean femme, it's the males' upper half that I like best. I did like the Saliva Island scene, but probably not for the reasons you'd expect; Mama's into some pretty weird shit.

I did hear about that bug; I only have the "beat the game" one and the 100% one, because I'm not a fan of speedruns. Props to anyone who can pull them off, though; my only one ever was Super Mario World, and it wasn't completely intentional.

Well, I spent a ridiculous amount of time in the temple, because I'm terrible with stealth, so I got to see a lot of that costume. Looking at the sprite, she definitely looks like she's barefoot, and I'd already accepted that. Then, you rescue Sky, and she complains about not being able to walk in her shoes. It doesn't look like she's wearing any shoes, so I'd like to see what she's talking about. It's not something that would normally bother me, but my mental illnesses are flaring up and I'm starting to fixate, and that's one of the details that's been banging around in my head since I finished that part of the game. I also put in a topic at the GameFAQs message board, but I haven't had any bites, probably because I'm the only one not talking about how the 3D is the best thing ever, because it makes the gals' boobs pop out.

I played them back-to-back, and the parallels are interesting, too; because I'd played Shovel Knight, I used the hell out of the down-thrust in Shantae. I liked them both a lot, but I don't know that I could pick a favorite. That said, the Shantae games, to me, are like the Metrovania games in that they all have their own little take on the basic formula, and they each do so well that I couldn't possibly rank them. It's definitely overlooked, and I think another part of the problem is the Shantae game that's in development; people are focusing on that one so much that they don't even know about Pirate's Curse. I think Way Forward should've waited a bit longer before starting that Kickstarter campaign.

Congratulations on your run of Shantae and the Pirate's Curse! I have to ask, though, do any of the unlockable wallpapers feature the costumes from Tan Line Island? There's something that's been bothering me about them, and I'd like to see them in greater detail.
