Pokémon Picross
Finally reached the end! Now gotta grind for the Mega Pencil...

Updated about 2 weeks ago

☆☆★★★ Well, it's picross, so the gameplay is fun and addicting. You catch each Pokémon you clear the stage of, and you can use their abilities later to make other puzzles easier. There are many possibilities, which is great, but if you want to play it for free, it's gonna take quite a while, as the game isn't really generous with picrites, and sometimes you have to do just the daily challenge for weeks before you can move on, so it took me over 9 months just to get to the last map.

☆★★★★ It plays kinda like Candy Crush, I guess. And it's free to play, also. But it has Pokémon elements, like Mega Evolutions, type effectivenesses, and special abilities. It can be pretty addicting, and they update it all the time, so it's a really big time sink.

They come really in useful when you feel like you almost have the right solution and the costumes' power help you getting through, or when you're particularily lazy and don't want to think a lot (just like me ).

It's stated in the descriptions of 3 specific costumes: I'm not exactly sure when do they unlock, though. Wizard lets you create 1 more block than the limit (you can cheese through levels with this sometimes, especially in the sequel), Bunny lets you jump 2 blocks high (helpful to save on blocks) and Ninja lets you go faster (mostly useless, except for getting faster times and when you have one block tall passages to squeeze through: it saves blocks thanks to bad traction). All the other ones are useless.

Is there some sense of progression in the gardening one too?
You're about halfway through, it's longer than you might think. As for that crown, try using Play Coins if you haven't already. They show the intended soluction for a level which (if you aren't using costumes) is the one that uses the fewest blocks. If you end up using too many blocks, maybe there is a way to save a few of them.

Wow, your commments are really long compared to mine
Well, they both seem fun and definitely more interesting than the two I got already, so I might give them a shot... if only there weren't so many games I would like to buy, and plus there's the big NX question mark (we don't know how bug the start lineup is). I'm leaning towards the gardening one even if the fishing one has Mario cameos, mostly because it doesn't involve shirt colors (a gimmick I hate) as heavily as the fishing one does. Now, is there a kind of progress in this game or is it like Animal Crossing, where you can do whatever you want after the start?
About BOXBOY: how are you finding it? I found it a pretty tough puzzle game, mostly because I never played a game here you make your own ground while you play. I found myself checking a walkthrough multiple times because I didn't want to use the special power costumes, Bunny and Wizard (Ninja is pretty useless for clearing levels except in a particular situation because of poor traction, not sure if it is featured in this game though). If you are liking it, I definitely reccomend the sequel BOXBOXBOY, which has somewhat better level design, continues the story and expandes on the gimmick of the last two worlds of BOXBOY, being able to have two box sets at once.

I don't like shoot 'em ups at all, instead And nice I'm not the only one to think Battle was bad. I was always interested by the ones where you are a gardener and a fisher, how are they?

I recall laying the shoot 'em up minigame (Squad?) and the one where you go around and conquer all of the kingdoms, and not liking them that much.

Oh. I might have to check them out again, then. I remember buying some of the first DLC games that came out and not liking them that much, maybe the newer ones are better.

It's possible I might have to try them again in order to remember their strenghts and weaknesses more clearly, the only major complaint I have right now is making the Mii's shirt color change how they behave. If you are supposed to play those games by StreetPassing only other people, you may get stuck for weeks trying to find a Mii which has the shirt of the right color. I guess that was Mii Quest only, though?

Thanks! I loved them, so I will be playing the DS version, even though I haven't heard much good about it. I think it'll be fine for me, if for no other reason than that it still has the Djinn system. I really love a good class system, so I'm excited for it. I feel like the GBA games were a perfect storm, so I don't really expect the DS one to be as good, but I was wrong about Paper Mario, so who knows?

Oh, and to answer your other question, I like The Lost Age better, hands down. The first game was concise with its content, which is something that I liked about Paper Mario over its sequel, but the second one does almost everything better: the music, the puzzles, the fights, the Djinn system; everything but the writing and visuals, which were about on par. The visuals in both are impressive, though; I'd been hearing for years that the GBA is a 32-bit system, and I would always call bullshit, because even the ports of 16-bit SNES games don't look as good as on the original system. Golden Sun's visuals could pass for SaGa Frontier 3; maybe not mind-blowing, but definitely 32-bit. I'm still very glad that I forced myself to complete them, because it was absolutely worth it; I haven't enjoyed a JRPG this much in a long time, maybe since I played Chrono Cross about 3 years ago.

I don't care about the StreetPass games, mostly because I can't barely StreetPass anyone that's not me and because they're too expensive for what they are. Seriously, each one costs 5€ and there are a dozen of ghem, so it's about a full retail game. I would rather buy one of those than a bunch of minigames.

Actually, that's a pretty neat idea. I used to watch TV and shake my 3DS to gather Play Coins, instead (works faster than walking).

So you are going for ? Nice to see you're so determined, even if it's a Crank-a-kai situation where you just play ~3 mins a day. I couldn't endure playing for so long without making any actual progress

That was myy favorite part of Fever too, I still can't get those Tsunku tracks out of my head
You can also just decide not to play with them, BTW, but I don't think that will come in handy (unless you don't care about the games).

I saw your avatar and thought you got Pandanoko
Oh, I seriously didn't catch any of those details. WiiU version it is, then.
Thing is, I already asked my aunt if we should update the game but she said no. Plus, we are playing on an old 3DS to avoid messing up events, so I would need that reader (I didn't see anywhere yet) to use amiibo. And I don't want to buy it.
Wow, 24? That's way more than I imagined I'm assuming old Remixes aren't included, right? All the content I didn't play yet makes it worth it to play through most of Fever again, though.
EDIT: Also, I guess that that new StreetPass Plaza update will really benefit your Plaza. Who knows how many people will you StreetPass in Japan

The game gets off to an absolutely abysmal start, but once you get enough Djinni for the class system to become interesting, it's a great game. The dialogue is just a bunch of idiots saying nothing, repeating themselves, and rephrasing it as a question, so that your silent protagonist can select a meaningless yes/no that looks suspiciously like the one from Shining in the Darkness (as to the item icons, come to think of it), but RPGs are so much more than just story and writing. For what it's worth, the actual plot is pretty interesting, too, so there's that. It's like I finally found a great Lufia game on the GBA, and it sure isn't Ruins of Lore! I find myself excited to come home and play it some more, and that doesn't happen too often, especially with RPGs. I'll see which I like better in my opinion; I'm fairly immune to nostalgia, and this is my first full time through Golden Sun. My third attempt, but I'm really glad that I've decided to force myself through it no matter what, because it really DOES get better!

I saw Yo-Kai Watch was out of the 3 most recently updated games and suddenly got excited. Nevermind
On a side note, you said you were going to Japan and hunt for Pandanoko while you were there. I take you didn't get him?
