Overdrive does indeed have a save feature, thankfully. In each area, there are a couple of dungeon areas where you can save. As for how it compares to the NES Blaster Master, it's essentially a less maze-like structure but still the same design aesthetic and gameplay feel. Totally reinvented story, new bosses, but still the same old music from the original NES Blaster Master, now remixed.

The gameplay is most like the NES game since you truck around in S.O.P.H.I.A. and acquire upgrades to it after boss fights. You can exit your tank as the hero and go into dungeon areas, ala the NES game where you find gun and health upgrades and, eventually, a boss fight in one of the areas. So, all in all, the basic structure is quite similar to the NES game but the visual aesthetic and story have been reimagined and contemporized.

No... Frankenstein was easy when you see him you just get close and spam whip at his head and he or the flying guy never get close. Deaths stage is annoying, I died everyway possible already... I EVEN GOT TO HIM ONCE D:
