The 360 has returned! Borderlands, Civ Revolution, and more are once more in my grasp. Took an ADD spin on Resident Evil 5, but the controls will take a lot of getting used to. (And who sends a bioterrorism agent into the field with only 10 rounds of ammunition, seriously?)

Having another person around is fun in general, I think! Strangely, the SO and I have never gotten super-far with a game where we're each playing a character--FFCC, Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, etc.--but have a great time if the other is sitting next to us while we're playing, cheering them on or offering observations the playing partner might not have noticed. I offered to let J pick up star pieces for me with the second controller, and he's thinking about it. Much of my pit-diving has come of being distracted by shinies. ![]()

All rightie, then! On to SMG. Boy do I feel you on the wrist-hurting thing. I'm assuming you're talking about the ray surfing level? Holding the wiimote in the proper position for a long time is hard. But I love racing levels in platformers, and really enjoyed that one. Maybe there will be levels later on where you're racing against AIs as opposed to a clock? That'd be fun. J sat next to me during my session today. He played through a majority of it shortly after I gave it to him for Christmas a couple years ago, so he was able to coach me through a couple things. We both hollered a lot on the Sweet Sweet Galaxy level. It sure was satisfying to finally get the star on that one. He tells me that's a great level to farm lives on once you've got the pattern down.

Addendum: I kept hope alive, really I did. But, another 20 tries with another deck of cards and he still borgs out his mana to max then one-shots my character. I'm going to have to concede on this one, my is going to go out drinking with this guy and we'll hit SMG tomorrow.

There are a couple of potential reasons why it didn't work out. The time I got him down to 10% I was concentrating very hard on my moves, and when I got annhilated anyway, that got me discouraged and lazy. That's the attitude part. Both of us had high enough skills to put wildcards all over the board, rendering my staple spell "drain mana" useless against him. I tried healing spells several times, and one only worked once. Resisted every time. My fireball and stun spells worked pretty consistently. My understanding from this is that it might be better to ditch the healing and mana drain, front-load my guy with a big pile of damage-dealing spells and go glass cannon on him.

Lord Bane happened. I got him down to 10% once in 15 tries. Every single other attempt, it was no contest. I'd shave off less than 25% of his health before he wiped me off the map.

Sounds good! I'm getting very close to the end of Puzzle Quest, too--just a couple quests to finish, and a couple monster spells yet to learn. SMG's fairly friendly to short sessions, as I recall, which is a good thing with an MMO still taking up large chunks of TV time.

Grr, something funky happened and I couldn't edit the comment I put up. Delete and start over! "Hidden in plain sight" doesn't mean anything special, just that the majority of the page note gets hidden behind the "more..." I generally just throw bloggy stuff up in there. Come to think of it, I should change that to reflect more current events. Tempus fugit, d00d. RE5 was on one of the Backloggery streams and it looks like fun. Hope you guys enjoy it. I've been really good about not spending since starting the credit system, mainly since I still haven't earned a full credit in the current run. Of course, there's some self-control involved as well. It gets hard, though. I'm doing some impulse control by putting things in the wishlist right away as whims hit. It'll be interesting to see what all falls off the radar over time.

General Backlog Just need to trash one game and beat one game to get back to 1 "emergency" Purchase Credit, though--shouldn't be too difficult.
