★★★★★ Like it a lot, despite its easiness & hand holding... So on that note, for me, there's something good to be said about the totally open exploration style of the original Metroid... I mean, while the in-game map is a very welcome addition in this remake, do we also need it to practically show where to go next?... Anyway, the original remains one of my all time faves, but I do love the Graphic enhancements and Save rooms are extremely helpful... So I'm loving the remake regardless of my gripes

Surprised you aren't into Saturn, have you ever considered getting into it?

One thing I wanted to touch on about our previous postings...... you mentioned no desire for an MVS setup, but yet you mentioned Shock Troopers; which is just one of many good MVS exclusive games. AES has no exclusives, and CD has a few, most importantly IronClad(also on the Virtual Console though). The MVS exclusives list has quite a few good games though; and sometime down the road I'd like to buy a Big Red 4-Slot, mostly for novelty; but consolized MVS fills all my Neo needs. I can't imagine switching to a default official SNK console setup, no MVS exclusive games, no UniBIOS and all that. Though you can mod to get UniBIOS on the AES or CD. Consolized MVS is seriously awesome; though since you already own so many games on CD I can see why that makes it that much less interesting to look at investing the money to get into it. I'm glad I waited all those years to get into Neo-Geo, as Consolized MVS didn't become a highly attractive option until more recent times.

Thanks for your recommendations! At the very least I'll make sure to pick up some of those borderliners later on after I've bought the better games. I'll have to check out macross 2036 as well. As for the Parodius, Star Parodier, and Star Soldier series games; I have them all(and have played them all) on those PSP compilations; so they're low priority; but I would eventually like to own the originals. They're great games.

I've been out of fighters since the early 90's; but I really liked them a lot back then, Street Fighter II was the reason I bought a SNES originally. But ever since getting into Neo-Geo I am finally getting back into fighting games. They're generally the cheapest MVS games out there; they rarely go over $50; so I will probably eventually buy almost all of them, including Kizuna, Real Bout etc. I'm starting with the first installments in the Neo fighting series; and Last Blade is a priority here for the moment, plan to buy that one soonish.

Yeah, I played the Neo a bunch at arcades during it's time; but just like you: AES was so expensive, hell, I didn't even bother asking my parents for it, that would have been futile.

I added a metric ton of games to my TG-16 & Neo wishlists, check them out and see what you think. Yeah, very shmup heavy, I know. If you see any stinkers in there, I'd appreciate it if you let me know. I also make a distinction between HuCard & CD games as I add them to my collection, but not for my wishlist, all pooled into one there.

Also, I only really got into TG-16 & Neo this year. But I've respected and wanted to own both of them since 1990; just never seemed to come together before. I'm pretty much full bore on both platforms, and they're both where I'm planning to spend the majority of my gaming monies over the next few years(with a little 3DS & Sega systems on the side).

We might be in the minority on Keith Courage(that it's a solid game still) and Legendary Axe(that it's stellar); but nice to see someone else agrees with me for a change.

Yup! Same issue with Gauntlet , but actually the narrow slit is a breeze for me

My stunt scores are actually pretty good I think, just not as insane as that

Mhm!

I actually picked it up again this week to see my times ('cause as you see, Eegoo below your comment and I, have been discussing it), and wasn't as rusty as I was back when I wrote that comment!

So jealous of the Gauntlet time; my best is still 2:15

Funny that he mentioned the stunt thing because I used to try and stall to rack up score, and it would never work!
