It is a criminally underrated game, and got an absolute kicking upon release which it did not deserve. I do think the awful English voice acting played a part in that, because the original language VA is essential. My god though, minor rough edges aside there is so much greatness here. I found myself stopping on rooftops in the rain just to stare at the Neo-Paris skyline. The art direction, the soundtrack, everything is just wonderful. It's one of the most completely realised and believable worlds I've ever visited in a game.

Just spent the day getting my and platinum trophy. That ending still has an emotional punch second time around, and it's so anti-Hollywood in how it doesn't have cartoon villains and a cliched good/evil power struggle. It wasn't lust for power, anger, hatred that led to dystopia, but sorrow and loss and idealistic hope. There is beauty in every part of this game, conventional and unconventional. Well, apart from the English dub.

I'm babbling. Basically games like this are why I play videogames. I've been to Paris, and now I feel I've been there 70 years in the future. I was transported, and enraptured. I'll defend that game to my dying breath, it's precious.

I only significantly upgraded one weapon before beating the game, yeah, it's not very generous with drops. I don't think I'll be doing the 'buy every weapon and upgrade it' trophy somehow.

Yeah, FF13 has a lot of not being able to do much other than hit auto for quite a while. Then the areas get bigger and then if you follow the plot directly in chapter 11 I'd guess you wind up pretty underlevelled, so you have to stick around for a while.

hotline miami was my 2012 GOTY. i need to replay it again now that theres steam cards.

Is it worth the extra $5 for terran conflict and albian prelude? also, is there any point in playing the older games or does the X3 series make them obsolete?

I'm glad another person has given Hotline Miami a chance. It's brilliance should go unnoticed

NFS was actually a lot of fun... for a while. I like the way upgrades and cars are unlocked, but you can beat the game without even using most of the non-boss cars and there's not much incentive to use the slower (and often more fun) cars aside from completion. It was a lot of fun while it lasted, but I got tired of it quicker than Forza Horizon, which takes longer to get going but is more satisfying once it does.
