I heard a lot of good things about it, had to get it before the ps3 store closes. I really don't want to pay Ebay prices for it.

Mizzurna, amazing game. I have already play it but not much because of the language barrier. Before the patch came out, I was planning to play it just using some guide to translate the game, but when I knew that a translation was on the way, I decided to wait. After a few years of waiting it is finally here, which is amazing for a rare game like this. I can define this game setting like a Twin Peaks inspired place, and as Shenmue Zero, because Shenmue took many elements of this game. This game was an early sandbox, with the ability to drive a car and explore the town both on foot and driving. (something that GTA and Carmageddon couldn't do at the time). This game ambientation is not like Shenmue tho, and in my opinion it's better. The town in the falls is the perfect place to make a detective storyline, and it works fantastic IMO. Sadly this game never came out of Japan (probably not a popular genre outside Japan at the time). Reminds me of Aconcagua, a game around the same time that met the same fate. Btw, I downloaded the patched version from CD Romance (a site I love) but I think it's on other sites.
Greetings.

Remothered is a genuinely fantastic take on giallo, which is a subgenre of horror that doesn't have a significant amount of representation in the gaming industry. It's by no means a technical masterpiece, but it delivers through being a thoroughly intense game that never really lets you rest on your laurels for very long, and one that does it with surprisingly few jumpscares, instead focusing more on atmosphere and audio cues to help drive tension and fear. This game genuinely rattled me during a few moments, and those are things I genuinely value in a genre that has to do a good deal or has to create specific conditions to get me there.

The writing and acting are some of the qualities I think it holds above and beyond the entire series. It definitely has a unique atmosphere to it. I wouldn't immediately compare it to Shadow Hearts in any capacity just due to the fact that Koudelka, even as the progenitor of the series, is actually quite different tonally, and the visuals (monster designs, set pieces, etc.) reflect that notably well. I might replay the entire series at this rate if it manages to end up getting me in the mood to do so.

This game has been extremely enjoyable. Currently weighing on if I like this more or less than Covenant (which is my favorite in the series and one of my favorite games overall) because the game definitely has qualities that are vastly superior to Covenant, but it also has some very egregious faults that Covenant just doesn't have. What it's really going to boil down to is how the finale plays out, what ending I get, and how I feel about the game when all is said and done. That said, I definitely hold this game in extremely high regard regardless of how I ultimately feel about the game. If you liked Shadow Hearts, you'll likely like Koudelka.

Lack of impact isn't any of my immediate criticisms of the game, but it does play into a couple of my bigger criticisms of the game overall (namely animations and the game frankly not being designed for certain aspects). That said it's a criticism I do hear fairly often, so you're definitely not alone there. Also definitely check out the whole Ys series! That's actually what I'm doing myself, playing the series in chronological order (it's gonna be a long wait before that official English version of IX tho).

I mean this is Soulsborne, any method of killing them is "fair", it's just not using ez mode strats can make for more interesting fights that way (and again Ebrietas is a good girl)

As for Ys VIII? Eeeeeeeh...it's alright. I played this back when it first launched, so I had the great (mis)fortune of playing through the entire thing with a largely badly translated script, so I'm replaying to see how the story holds up with a more refined script now that the entire game has been retranslated. It won't really change my opinion on its gameplay and the issues I have with it, but I think it's still worth trying for veterans and newcomers alike.

...you should get back to Origin at some point. That one is really good.
