It's cool. Apologies for the fall-through in communication, been busy with Dark Souls.

So, Risk of Rain. You said you've been eyeballing it, so I'll skimp on the product description part and jump straight to why it's good. Or not good. Depending.

Risk of Rain is what I like to think of as a snack game, the kind of thing you dabble in for an hour or so here and there and slowly make progress over time, rather than some kind of full course where you might end up dedicating a significant amount of time to it in one sitting. It's a game you play between other things, while waiting for other things, instead of saying "Tonight I will go home and play Risk of Rain," though you might do that if you're crazy.

Risk of Rain. It's a very stark, minimalistic kind of game. Very simple, kinda melancholy. I dig it. I like the music. The music was the first thing about the game I knew I liked because a buddy of mine was playing it over Skype and his microphone picked it up. I like the atmosphere. Your objective is to survive and escape and that's about it, though you'll collect a lot of auxiliary junk that fleshes things out a bit. Maybe.

Risk of Rain. I'll stop doing that. Its design and mechanics strike a good balance between chance and skill, but the core experience is pretty much the same no matter what class you pick or items you get or levels you wind up in. Find the teleporter, activate it, kite enemies until it finishes activating, clean up, then leave quickly. There's some fun variety in the classes, a bit of strategy and positioning and using your environment, but the key to success is pretty much to run and gun at all times. The game is short (and short-lived) so it works, but that just goes back into what I said at the beginning: Risk of Rain is not intended for long-play. Once you've learned the ins and outs you can clear it in about an hour, but it'll take you several hours of dying and learning from your mistakes to get to that point. And it's fun enough that you'll want to replay it even after that; to collect everything, unlock every class. If your thing is to beat a game and just move on, I couldn't say how satisfying you'd find it. There's a lot to love if you like to revisit a game, tough.

Really though, my favorite thing about the game is you're always accomplishing something. Even when you die, you unlock stuff for use later, which unlocks other stuff. It adds up. It's a good system. Bought it for $5, probably worth $10.

Seems like you're around again, or were four months ago. Hope you're keeping safe and sound and well in all things.

Thanks! I managed to snag a copy for 30, so I figured it'd be foolish not to pick it up. It's not the full collectors edition box, but it does have the original case, manual, and soundtrack/making of disc.

We're here for you, and we missed you. Embrace us, and enjoy the comfort of our love.

Or just glad to have you back

I'm guessing when you say "PC games" you actually mean "The 30 steam summer sale games I bought that I cant decide what order to play"?

With Link's Awakening being my favorite 2D Zelda, and having one of my favorite banners, it's no wonder I've been using for a while now.

People really seem to like recommending Journey to me, so eventually I'll get around to it.

Outland and Guacamelee! seem to be the perfect games for me to curb my Metroid cravings so I've been keeping an eye on them. Animal Crossing has been sucking up a lot of time, so I've just finally gotten around to working on my backlog again.
