It's hard with Pikachu as a starter, lots of grinding needed to beat the first gym leader. Now on to the next.

The game has a great art style and I enjoyed the music as well but the jumping mechanic at times just does not work the way I wanted/expected it too.

Just beat PES2008.
I hated soccer games, now I can't wait to get PES2009. Even if it's pretty much the same thing as 2008, according to most reviews.

Love the banner, as simple as it is. I suppose nothing more needs to be seen than the awesomeness of the Blue Bomber himself. Also glad to see you're playing Order of Ecclesia and enjoying it; I had a terrific time with that game, difficult as it was. Intensely rewarding gaming.

Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia - First impressions.

After two Castlevanias on the DS, this third game had a lot to live up to. And three hours in, I can already feel the magic of the franchise on my fingertips. The metroidvania style has been kept, but now there is a hub-like place where you can decide which area to visit. I really like the feeling the hub thingy gives to the experience. It's almost like a mission based Castlevania, except it all fits nicely into one big world; seamless.

I had read it was a harder Castlevania, almost to the level of the NES games, but nothing is farther from the truth. So far it feels a bit harder, but almost unnoticeable. The increase in difficulty level is only on the player's mind, in my opinion. Why? Because there isn't a shop where you can buy upgrades right away. Instead, the game has a very clever way of incorporating the shop into the story. The villagers have all been sealed away, so the village is empty at the beginning of the game. But as your quest goes on, you find the lost villagers and release them. One villager is the owner of the shop, the other one is the potion-maker or the blacksmith. Once you free them, they ask you for stuff so that they can produce a good. So the blacksmith asks for three copper stones to make copper items. Then he asks for three silver stones. And so on...

It's weird at first when you enter the shop and you can't buy potions to heal. So, in that sense, the game creates an atmosphere of need. You need and want new stuff to boost your stats, but you can't get them until you play some more and find more raw materials.

I'm pretty pleased with the game so far, and can't wait to keep playing it.
My spleen!
