★★★★★ Doki Doki Literature Club Plus! Bigger and better version of the original game, with additional new side content and a much better user interface. This game is very simple, but the story and the characters are breathtaking, since it has been years since I played it for the first time I forgot how amazing the writing is, that ending broke me like a KitKat bar, and I will forever cherish this little literature club and all its members, Monika, your piano practice paid off.

★★★★★ Yugioh GX Tag Force Evolution. One of my favorite video games of all time, simply perfect video game for a yugioh player and a fan of the anime, the story is simple and to the point, you can partner any of the characters from the show and the card game is super indepth for the time when rules were much more simple. Wonderful visuals and charming music really elevate this game to being one of my favorite games ever, it is also my most played game ever, and I don't plan to stop any time soon!

It wouldn't be so bad if everything would just stand still, but trying to aim with the sticks while you and everything else is moving... I don't know how people do it. Personally, I consider achievements to be a waste of my time, and if I ever get all of them for a game - oddly enough, I just did that with the Seiken Densetsu 3 remake that I'm playing right now - it's completely by coincidence. Most of them are either, "PERFORM EIGHT HUNDRED FLYING HEADSTOMPS WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GROUND" with some stupid bullshit name like "The Floor is Lava", or they're just things you get from playing through the game; I'd be hard-pressed to think of any that ever improved a game.

You can really tell that just about all Gearbox did before Borderlands was Half-Life mods, because it does really feel like something is off; I didn't notice that until I played 2, but if it felt too short, 2 is absolutely what you're looking for. 1 has about three plot points throughout the entire game, but 2 is where the plot for the first game is, and then it has its own plot on top of that. Along with 5 expansions. And also 5 more smaller expansions. It's a huge game, maybe the biggest of the franchise. The expansions for the first game are a bit mixed; if you only play one of them, make it The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, because that's easily the best. General Knoxx has potential, Claptrap's Robot Revolution is pretty fun, and Moxxi's Underdome Riot is one I barely bothered to play at all, and definitely wouldn't recommend playing solo, because it's absolutely not built for that.

Yeah, it's time to clear out my and make them I'm planning on sweeping up the others first, and having a Yakuza marathon at the end, quite possibly followed by a Mega Man franchise victory lap before I start on my 16-bit games that've been piling up over the last... iunno... 6 years or so. I've started using some as laundry day games (along with a horde of non-GOG, DRM-free PC titles I've gotten from all over the place), so maybe it won't be super huge by the time I actually get there. I did a lot of stuff in each Yakuza, and left things unfinished mostly because I wanted to find out what this Premium Adventure thing is all about, and... well, you see the result of that. 7's probably gonna take the longest, because I did almost NOTHING in Kamurocho; one I got there, I practically made a beeline for the end, which was probably a mistake, because the final boss felt like he took HOURS to beat.

I played the GOG version; I mark any DRM-free version of a game as PC, because to me, it doesn't matter beyond that, so only games that require launchers get their respective branding... though you'll see Epic at the bottom, because I'm pretty over their shit, even for free games. It was fun while it lasted, and I got to play some cool stuff, but I purchased most of what I liked on GOG afterwards. I do have a PS3, but I wasn't into that kind of game back in its era, and I can't play Shooters worth a damn with a controller. My lady is better at Shooters than I am, and she can't do it, either; we were at an arcade a few years back, and she wanted to try Doom Eternal on one of the consoles they had (don't remember which system it was), and she couldn't do it. That's the same reason I missed out on Borderlands during its initial run. Well, that and there were a MILLION Shooters coming out every day back then, so it didn't really look any different to me.

I saw! I don't remember where the Dahl Headlands are, and I really need to play it again sometime, but I am SO close to finishing this set for my backlog (only 15 => to go!), and I don't want to deviate from that until I do. And yes, the music is great; 2 has my favorite music in the series so far, but that Fyrestone theme that plays while you're wandering the desert is just PERFECT. I'm a big fan of the second wind mechanic, too; I'm not super great at Shooters, and being punished for one little flub is irritating, so being able to save it with a skill shot is very welcome, especially when healing doesn't always come easily. If you're missing the story, don't worry: 2 has ALL of the story. I played as the siren, but the soldier will almost definitely be my next playthrough; 2 has the characters from 1 return and it fleshes them out quite a bit, and Roland is easily one of my favorites.

New Vegas is the most functionally broken 3D game I've ever played in my entire life. I had someone spawn halfway into a wall, standing on a shelf in his house before falling into the void forever; I saw someone run into a mailbox until finally just clipping right through it; and I saw an NPC's pathfinding straight-up BREAK, leaving him unable to move. I say that because Fallout 3 wasn't functional; it was definitely worse! I finally got to see some of that "Bethesda magic" that people talk about, and I wasn't impressed. Yeah, that could do it; funny how we can often trace these sorts of things back to some kind of childhood trauma.

As much as I like Devil May Cry 2, the costumes it offers always seemed weirdly out of step with what you get in the rest of the series; the Must Die Mode costumes made more sense, but between that and Lucia's sweater and sandals combination, I kept low-key wondering when I would unlock Bjork's swan dress or something.

Nice! I honestly have no idea what the difference between the versions is, but like you said, it is good to have the choice. The first Darksiders usually comes with the regular and WARMASTERED (you have to say it like that) versions, and as I understand it, the latter has spruced up graphics, but runs like... balls. Good timing, too; I just finished 3 not that long ago, and while I am moving on to the rest of my backlog, what I really want to do is just play through the whole thing again as Moze. BUT YOU ENJOY! Glad my knowledge could be useful to you!

Same... It's only been a few years since I first played it, but it's something of a comfort game at this point. The art keeps me interested, and the community is one of the most dedicated, so even though it's pretty small, I think it will be relevant in my life for quite a while. I want to get playing some of the fan games soon enough.

I've been kind of inactive on here, since I've been kind of burned out / mostly playing games without any real progress to track.

Well, I don't not have those; I just didn't remember them, since I've only played four Fallout games, and only finished two of them. Hell, I didn't get much further than the first town in 3, because the shop menus bugged out on me, and I wasn't about to start over. Funny story: I actually gave myself claustrophobia by trying to crawl through spaces I shouldn't have while wearing a backpack (STUPID GIRL!), so I have this horrible fear of getting stuck. I guess the claustrophobia isn't too bad, though, because when I'm having one of my bad mental health days, I'll sleep in the closet, because it feels safe; it's just a very specific kind of claustrophobia.

Green shirt, you say? Is that the costume you unlock for Dante that makes him TOTALLY look like he pounds butt? I... wow. Whoops. Lucia's one of the reasons people didn't like the game; great marketing, there, Capcom. That was interesting, though, thanks! Never heard any of that before.

Hey, no problem! You're the one letting me gush about games I absolutely love, so thank you for letting the old windbag go on and on! If you watch your sales, you can get them pretty cheap; I got the first one with all the extras for about $10, and The Handsome Collection (2 and The Pre-Sequel with all extras) for $6, and... I think I got 3 with all the extras for $20. Oh, and because I didn't know this, and got MURDERED as a result, the Headhunters maps in 2 are intended to be played after all the main expansions. That, and for story reasons, the most recent expansion for 2 is supposed to be played after The Pre-Sequel; I didn't, and was super confused. Feel free to ask again later, if you don't feel like remembering this all. Above all, HAVE FUN!

It's definitely a Fallout personality quirk, or whatever they call them. I've also got the night owl one.

I've heard that 4 was rushed, too, which is always stupid; you put out an unfinished game just to meet some arbitrary deadline that YOU created, because your management failed at their jobs. Great. Thanks. Can I have my $60 back? Sure, I'll give you back your product; I'm not going to play it again. Definitely didn't hear that about 2, though; what was 2 originally supposed to be?

Well, let me put it this way: the first Borderlands is a bit like the first Zelda in that there is a story, there are sidequests, and there are characters (in this case, excellent characters that I find unforgettable), but for the most part, it al stands out of the way and lets you explore a big desert planet at your own pace. 2 and The Pre-Sequel focus a lot more on story, and while I wouldn't quite say it gets in the way, it wouldn't quite be the same if you removed the story altogether; the first game just asks if you're a bad enough dude (or siren; Lilith isn't a dude) to open the vault, even though the Atlas corporation didn't kidnap the president. The sidequests across the games aren't exactly to the level of Witcher 3 in terms of emphasis and writing, but they're usually given by pretty entertaining NPCs, and they're certainly far above most anything Bethesda's put out in the last ten years. Rewards from them are typically some cash and experience, but every once in a while, you'll get a completely unique weapon/shield/grenade. The RPG elements are pretty minimal; each level increases your HP and damage a bit, and loot has levels usually equivalent to yours, which keeps you competitive enough to take down the enemies. The most exciting thing about leveling up is being able to flesh out your skill trees, which causes your character to evolve and usually your playstyle with it.

Yessir I am! My school workload was pretty stacked last semester so I didn't have as much time for single player games unfortunately but I'm back at it! How have things been on your end dude?

Persona 3 Reload has been incredible man. It's honestly so surreal to be playing a remake of P3, I genuinely never thought it would happen. P3 is my favorite JRPG ever and the Persona series in general means a lot to me, so seeing the remake doing the original game justice makes me so happy. I'm not sure how big you are into turn-based rpgs but I gotta say, P3 is among the best. The remake streamlines the original game so much too that at this point I would recommend jumping straight into it that way!

Also, going back to our last conversation and talking about the Souls game, I'm actually planning on playing DS2 very soon! I wanna finish my Bloodborne replay first before I do but it's something I'm planning on playing this year. I will definitely let you know when I do!

I can't really say for sure about whether the heat thing was a result of overstimulation, but the holes thing is just an immediate reaction, almost like eating food you don't like triggers a gag reflex. Most other reactions are like that, too; I hear music and see my own personal light show; I see a particular color and it puts a specific taste in my mouth; that sort of thing.

Honestly, I'm not that upset about Doom 64, because I had my fun with the Doom games back in the day, when they were on the newer side (I was introduced to them in '97), but my time with them is done. I somewhat recently tried to play Heretic again, which is in the same engine, and it was just unplayable to me, despite that fact that I'd sunk countless hours into it many years ago. Devil May Cry 5 is the heartbreaker, because I'm a huge fan of the series... except 4; I couldn't be bothered to play through 4 more than once, and I didn't finish most of the secret missions. I even really enjoyed the reboot (beat that on Hell and Hell Mode with both characters), but I couldn't get into 4. I didn't have any issues with the visuals in any of the others, though; Leviathan's insides were pretty gross, but I wasn't unable to look at them.

You do have some light RPG elements, like levels and skill trees, but yeah, the focus is more on action and loot. Damn, I couldn't even be bothered to finish Black Mesa, much less OG Half-Life on anything other than... whatever I played it on a few years back. The Borderlands games do have some stupid, un-fun challenges, if you're looking, but they can just as easily be ignored. I don't remember what they do in the first game, but they give small perks in 2 and The Pre-Sequel, and a secondary currency that's used almost exclusively for cosmetic items in 3. But, you know, sometimes, I'm in the mood to kill several hundred bad guys while running full speed at them with a submachine gun, so I do some of them.
I will always be at your side. Until hope has fully withered…
