Yeah, I think it was just trying to push the envelope as much as possible. Which is fine, ive read some fucked up doujins before that were really good, but idk, just couldn't quite reach the level for me. Well, bendy is marketed towards small children, so it's not necessarily going to be the most gripping horror experience as an adult. I played it with my sister's kids. I didn't find much enjoyment out of it.

I have a handful of them archived now, but I forgot to save the previous one I had which is a bummer, because I think that was one of my favorite ones. It doesn't take too long for me to archive them since I save them on my computer, but it's just a matter of remembering lol.

Yeah I remember a few days where it was really cold, but for the most part it hasn't been that bad. There is only a handful of places that I regularly go too, so it hasn't affected me too much.

Pendulum killed YuGiOh for me when it came out. I've dabbled in it since then, and it is pretty cool, but I don't really have anyone to play it with, so my interest wanes pretty quickly. Magic still has a meta obviously, but there are a lot more options. For example some LGS will host casual Commander nights. It's really fun when you can get a pod of four decks around the same power level.

The last time I needed to really do anything like that was probably Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. It constantly changes the codec frequency on you, but instead of taking notes, I just took a picture of it.

Indeed. And even if they do change it, I really hope they keep the page design tools in line with what they have now. It's becoming less and less common for sites to have full page customization like this one does.

Welcome back! It's alright, just pop in whenever you feel like

Yeah, I tend to just flock to really fucked up media for some reason, lol. To it's credit, the grotesque visuals are really well made, and it got some gut wrenching moments out of me. But not enough to leave a lasting impression on me, I'm afraid.

I couldn't count how many times I have changed it lol! My interests are always changing, and with it, my themes tend to coincide with it. I started cataloguing them, but I only started doing that recently, so there is probably at least a hundred that are lost to the void, over these 10+ years!

Ahh I see. Not sure what it would be like here. I live in Canada btw. Thanks for the recommend though! I have it bookmarked, just in case.

He is a legend!
Haha, yeah, when I first started my job, I spent waaay more than I probably should have. That was around the time I was getting into Magic the Gathering... what a money sink that was! I wonder what it is about modern games that has so many people disinterested. Despite gaming being bigger than it has ever been.

Oh man, note taking, now THAT is something I haven't done in quite a while, while playing a game! I'm sure it would be really helpful... I should try that! It would have probably helped when I was playing Cold Fear, because that game desperately needed a map system.

Yeah, I think for some sites, they don't need to integrate modern bells and whistles. Like, this is a site that is very niche, so the need for a mass rebranding that appeals to a larger number of people just doesn't seem necessary. I would settle for some small, quality of life changes. Like an outbox for the DMs would go a long way.

It's a game that's reputation precedes it, and well, I wouldn't say it really earns it, honestly. The only thing it has going for it, is the interesting story mechanic, of altered perceptions of reality, coalescing with one another. But as cool as that premise is, most of it is just a lot of really depraved shit happening, and that's kind of it. Most of the H scenes where censored in the Steam release, but it's the kind of game that makes you feel dirty for playing it anyway.

Lol, I can't remember if I ever forgot I had it... I probably have. Honestly, for me, the theme custimization is the main appeal. Even though it's very simple, it's still rather robust in terms of possibilities, and one of the few sites that actually lets you change basically everything.

Never heard of it before. What kind of certificate do you get? I don't know if it would be well known enough for employers here.

When you said Never give up, I immediately thought of this guy:
[Link]
And I don't think there is anything more inspirational than that! So thanks lol. To be honest, I think the backlog is totally doable. I haven't had much interest in current gen games, so that cuts out a lot of really long games. A lot of the ones I am interested in is older games and indies which don't take that much effort to complete.

Yeah that's how you are supposed to do it. The knife helps a lot in that regard, for the regular zombies. My problem, is that I always forget / miss stuff. Then I end up with barely any items. I had one run that was really good, but then I switched to Chris, without leaving my items in the chest. When I switched back, I had basically nothing to fight Alexa with, and by the time I had realized that, I had saved over my file. I was so mad, I almost threw my game out the window, lol.

They had a lot planned for this site. There was a massive overhaul planned, but that was years ago now, when I heard of that, so who knows what is going on, anymore.

100th completed game! DOOM II, sure, it is a game I completed before, but this was a master run, so at least it has some meaning when you think about it like that.

They do they do lol. I'm interested in the stuff that never got an adaptation as well. Finished Saya no Uta which was... something.

I didn't have a lot of time to really orient myself in terms of future prospects, but I was able to at least get some grounding mechanisms that should make that easier in the future. Hopefully anyway. For now I'm just kind of stuck in the grind.

Don't forget the garbled audio quality, as well! Lol. There are a lot of good tuts out there, though if you know where to look. I've been watching some as of late. Skillshare is pretty good too, but obviously costs money.

I've never really considered beating it before, but I think that this limitation has opened my eyes to the possibility of actually beating it if I wanted too. At the very least, I want to get as many games that I have been dying to play as possible.

Code Veronica is the only RE, where I constantly get stuck in a dead end every time I play, lol. I'm not sure if it was a byproduct of the different developers or what, but it certainly feels like an "advanced" Resident Evil game in that regard, where micromanaging is now, more important than ever. Fucking tyrant...actually fuck all of the bosses lol.

Yep indeed! It's kind of crazy. I was a completely different person back then. I never would have chosen this username today, lol

I definitely think it is, though I also only experienced Mogeko Castle and it, never got to Grey Garden or anything else DSP might have made that I'm forgetting.

Just uh, preface that it is a DeepSea Prisoner game and uh... you probably know what that means at this point, haha...

Oh and while pretty basic, it's actually got an RPG battle system, which is pretty neat! It doesn't overstay its welcome or feel too forced which is very nice. Just a nice little pacing tool.

Are you playing the uhhhh, re-release btw? I don't know much about it but I heard DSP made some sort of re-release or remaster that included among other things a new epilogue. Not sure if it got a translation patch like the original game though.

Yeah that's a good point. Plus, the interactivity adds to it, as well. Since you are interacting with the characters directly, that alone adds a whole new dynamic.

No, it was due to mental health reasons. I was just really burned out, and I think I needed the time off of the stressful environment to gather my bearings.

It's what made YouTube great, in the first place. Even though they are trying to push celebrities, and other such nonsense now, I think, at it's core, YouTube is still about the homegrown creators.

Well, that's good! I've set limitations on how many games I buy, nowadays, because it got a little crazy when I first got Steam, lol. So now, I aim to only buy when I have already beaten two other games (with some exceptions, like cons and other special events.)

You don't actually need to do it. The game usually gives you juuust enough heals to let you barely scrape by. But that's if you can run past all of the enemies in any given segment, which isn't always the case. So, after many failed attempts, I figured that I needed to figure out how to get heals. Thankfully, it was pretty straight forward, once you know what you are doing, and I only ever needed to do it once.

Oh yeah it is my ring day, huh? Neat. Thanks!

I've definitely heard people say that about Fate. Might have to try those someday. I liked the Steins;Gate anime, and I've seen a fair bit of others that do as well. But it would be interesting, to see how it stacks up against the VNs.

I went on short term disability earlier in the year, so that was the closest I got to being a NEET since Covid started. It starts out, that you have all the time in the world to work on whatever you want to, with tons of leisure time. For me, that turned out to be mostly just leisure time, and a general lack of direction.

Yeah, for sure, it's respectable. He already had a background in coding, before he started streaming, IIRC. It's a really smart way to utilize that skill! And he does a good job being entertaining in the process.

While both have excellent hack and slash mechanics, I would say that the two combat styles between NieR and MGR are actually quite different. You can expect that Platinum Games level of polish, though, as the game's controls are just a wonder to control for me.
"knowing Japanese it is going to be complex, bizarre and endlessly fascinating!"
I couldn't help but smile when I read this, because that perfectly sums up this franchise. You hit the nail right on the head! But I don't want to spoil much.

Yeah, I think most YouTubers find a specific niche these days. I don't watch a lot of streamers, though, so I don't know much about the kinds of games they play. I know some VTubers played Getting Over it, and the reactions where hilarious.

I did! I enjoyed it a fair bit. It had some frustrating moments, particularly with the controls, but it got a lot easier, once I figured out how to use the gift box mechanic (basically swapping items that you find for healing items). Basically just grinded for an hour and I had enough heals to get me through the rest of the game. The story is the main appeal to me, though. Really makes you feel bad for the main character, plus had a heartwrenching ending too. And the setting is very unique as far as I'm concerned.

Don't get me wrong, the anime is very popular, and it definitely has to do with it being one of the classic horror anime. But there is a very large amount of VN purism in that franchise, among those who have played it. No, I still haven't played them, but I do intend too, at some point.

Yeah, I'm kind of the same way. That's why I like survival horror, because they don't overstay their welcome most of the time. I used to frequent a small forum where Persona was one of the games that everyone talked about ad nauseum, so it's something I wanted to try. I do enjoy the games, especially 5. But beating them is another story, lol. I did make good progress, when Covid first started, so maybe the trick, is becoming a NEET.

Yeah, it's always fun to go back into his back catalogue, and realize the diversity of ways that he is able to do these challenges. And yeah, it's really funny when he can't differentiate the serious messages, from the troll ones. So he stares at seemingly heartfelt messages like "I DON'T TRUST YOU!"

Fair, fair. I do think that Automata is the more polished experience, but I think that Replicant is also worth experiencing. It's difficult to immerse me in a story like those games have. Plus, I just love games that are unique, and those games really have a signature personality to them.

Yeah, it's kind of an interesting dynamic that YouTubers have on these types of games. I remember back around 2012, you would find all of these YouTubers playing weird / hard games, but none of those games had the intention of being seen by YouTubers. Then I guess people realized that making Kaizo hard games was a content farm. I mean, hey, it works. I just wish more of these devs would use it as a launchpad to making a career, rather than just being a one and done type of deal.

He is indeed. He is just trying his best!

Also, late response, but Frontiers was great. 3D Sonic is friggin' BACK and it's amazing.

Unfortunately not a ton of replayability now that I've 'd it, so now I await either inevitable DLC, or the next game in like... four years.

That seems to be a trend in horror games... same thing happened with Higurashi, where people live and die by the source material lol. But I cant really fault anyone for that either. I personally enjoyed it, when I watched it. The scene with the girl hanging by a noose in the stallwas really visceral to me. But yeah I'll probably rewatch it afterwards, to compare.

And Haha yeah, Silent Hill is definitely cult classic. Specifically 2 and 3, because people like to do my SH1 dirty. I would at least recommend trying them. They aren't super long games (maybe 4-6 hours casual), and the appeal of them is similar to what you described with corpse party; its exploring this desolate area, though, extending beyond a school, and into many other areas as well. But dont feel bad if it's not for you as I feel opinions are split these days.

No, I'm not sure who it was now. But DougDougs mods are hilarious. I have a particular fondness, for the one where it spawns whatever enemy he says the name of. The creativity of the chat for that one was so good. True, I imagine it would be even more chaotic with projectiles flying everywhere!

It surpassed my expectations, honestly. I was just expecting a really good, over the top hack and slash, and what I got was... well, that, plus a genuinely amazing story that had me invested enough to get all the endings, and platinum it. It even made me buy the first game on PS3. So yeah, I definitely reccomend it! I think it goes on sale every once in a while, but I haven't kept up with it lately. I might pick up the Steam version at some point, just to revisit it.

Oh, for sure. The rating system was established for a reason, so you can only bubble wrap so much. But nowadays, you see kids playing horror games (hell, horror games marketed towards children), so it's safe to say that the culture has shifted quite a bit.

Good to know, I can ramble to my hearts content!
