★★★★★ The third of Atlus' dungeon-crawling homages to Wizardry, this is the best one. It's got a rich class system that would make FFV fan boys drool, letting you go wild with esoteric characters (ninja/monk is my favorite rpg healer ever) that can still stand up to the challenges of the deep. Befriend wild animals, map out the uncharted seas, unravel the mystery of a hundred year-old cataclysm, and punch out Cthulhu at his meanest. If you like dungeon crawlers, you'll love this game.

Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten
It's true, I'm quite fortunate to have received the game a week early. Us Canadians almost never get that kind of benefit. I am one lucky beaver

I am playing Normal. I tried Hard when I first booted up the game and was taken aback by how easy it was for me to die. AFAIK, Hard also reduces the damage you give by half and doubles the damage you take compared to Normal. EXP gain is also reduced by quite a bit. If I had to make a comparison with the previous FE games based on their difficulties...Normal would be like FE7 and Hard would be like FE6. If you get what I'm saying. In FE6 I had to play extremely cautiously - calculating exactly how far each enemy unit can move and attack and not move my units into their walking range. With FE7 I could probably get away with a few hits without worrying too much. Awakening has this really cool feature (maybe Path of Radiance had it, idk) where you can press the X button and it highlights on your grid (in purple) how far every enemy unit can move and attack. You can also press A on any enemy unit to see their individual movement/attack range (highlighted in red). Super convenient and better than the GBA games where you could only highlight one enemy at a time.

Oh and it's Classic Normal mode for me. Unlike most FE players I never feel like resetting the game to save every unit from death because I just move on and replace 'em with someone else. It's a lot less stressful for me that way, but I'm really glad the developers gave the option to choose between the two modes. I think you'd really like Casual Hard so you should go for it.

Intelligent Studios have really outdone themselves with Awakening. It pretty much takes everything that was good about the previous titles and seamlessly combines them together into the ultimate Fire Emblem game.

A lot of the suspense in P4 was removed for me because I knew almost all of the spoilers beforehand.

Regardless I still enjoyed the game immensely (and the Vita-exclusive content was still fresh to me). 10/10 would play again
