The first Yoshi's Island really is stellar! It's definitely one of, if not the absolute best platformer I've ever played. And they made it look that good on the SNES as well! It's rad!

I have seen both of those Kirby games. They are definitely on my radar, specifically Star Allies.

And I delay, because of my Planescape: Torment addiction. Sunrise; sunset.

Out here, the Internet is not strong enough to watch live streams, and the recorded ones are too long to hold my interest in most cases. I'll occasionally jump into a longplay if I'm trying to put video game tracks in the order in which they appear in the game, or if it's something that interests me that I'd hate to actually play, like Spec-Ops: The Line. I'm like that, too, but for me, it depends on the game; I like to give them a chance, because sometimes, games start out shitty, but become great once you get into them. I don't want to miss out on another Deadly Towers or Godzilla: Monster of Monsters.

I'd like to clarify: what I disliked about the 3D Mario games wasn't the basic mechanics; Tick Tock Clock from 64, and those weird warp zones from Sunshine were pure 3D platforming bliss. What I hated was shit like slide races with penguins, the wind deciding to blow off my hat for the jillionth FUCKING time, collecting 8 red coins in a pachinko machine, or worst of all, collecting 8 red coins on that damn lily pad. One thing that bugs the shit out of me is having to collect things in an auto-scrolling section, because one fuck-up, and you might as well go skydiving. If they could just make a straightforward game without trying to cram in minigame bullshit, that'd be fab. Zelda, too. The T-Rex has become a sort of go-to for video game or even general Internet wackiness, but I think of bizarre scenes like the T-Rex boss from Bart vs. the Space Mutants. That'd be neat, but Sarasaland is one of the most fascinating worlds Mario's ever had; I'd love to see a full-blown 3D world crafted from it.

I haven't played Grand Theft Auto. Well, not really; I played the first one on PSX, which was neat to just pop in and blow off some steam for a while, but not something I'd play to completion. I had a friend who used to play it all the time when he came over; I think I saw more of the game watching him play than I did on my own. I did hear about the giant dildo; for all the freedom Grand Theft Auto claims to give, I don't think any of them let you run around the streets cock-slapping people into submission. Like I once heard in a review, "Sandbox mayhem isn't about gritty realism and forced tutorials; sandbox mayhem is about hijacking a helicopter mid-flight, jumping out at the highest height, and landing balls-first on the face of somebody's grandmother."

Heh, thanks for the info mate.

I may have said I "Caught 'em all" on Emerald several months ago, but really I was cheating by doing the classic old "Master Ball" glitch. But I intend to start anew by completing the HoennDex WITHOUT Master Balls, with the exception of the one in Aqua Hideout which I'll use for Rayquaza. The rest I'm on my own for! Also comparing with your Gold victory I just read involving your Great Ball Ho-Oh, I remember rolling right through the Emerald League with Rayquaza. Speed runners like to do that.

Mmm, perhaps I should play on my old Silver cart one day since everybody's coming back to 2nd Gen on the 3DS. Though, I may need to solder up a new tabbed battery which I could get online. Apparently the save file deletes itself over a dead internal cart battery. I no longer have a 3DS anyway.

One does not simply catch a legendary with a Great Ball
One does not simply catch an SNES Classic Edition also

Maybe it's me given I only have stuck to 3rd Gen, but no matter how hard I try, I could never catch one without a Master Ball. Apparently my brother managed to catch a Groudon on Ruby with an Ultra Ball, and I've read some tips along stocking up on many balls as well as weakening the legendary so hard, etc. Was it easier on 2nd gen.

As for the Classic Edition, how is it? Gotta love how it sold out as quick as NES Classic Edition, haha. Me, I'll just stick to the regular, authentic consoles not because of the hassle buying Classic Editions but because I love that gaming originality. Once the N64 Classic Edition comes up, watch it get sold out as fast as the Skull Kid figure edition of Majora's Mask 3D, and that was before its release ツ

I've been hooked on that Metal Jesus channel; there are a lot of not-so-obscure games that they pick as hidden gems, but I've found at least half a dozen things I want to check out, and I really like the people they have on the channel; they seem like a really likeable bunch. Of course, now I may also have to check out Monster Factory... Come on, Girl! There's a new season of Dragon Ball Super out, and I need to catch up on my meathead fighting drama! For me, I don't really care about the pacing of a game, for the most part, so long as it's consistent. Ninja Gaiden is fine; Dragon Warrior is also fine. What bothers me is something that moves quickly, and then slows down. I get that they want to draw you in with excitement, and leave the dull parts for after you're already hooked, but why can't they - oh, I don't know - just not have dull parts? If you have parts that you know are dull, your game isn't finished yet! Well, if I get to them before you do, I'll give you a full report!

See, now that sounds interesting. I... practically know that this is a damn trap, but I think I'd like to play Super Mario Odyssey at some point. Just about everything you said there has me intrigued, and I like some of the screenshots I've seen. There's one where there's goofy-looking, bright-ass, colorful, cartoon Mario looking at a photorealistic T-Rex. The contrast is indescribably jarring, but it reminds me of something like Panic! for the SEGA CD, or those weird European cartoons from the '70s that you used to see at odd hours of the night, and I like that style. Oh man, Sarasaland would be the tits! I'd be excited to see that, whether or not it's in color!

Oh, I usually do, too; OD and all. I'm going to try Breath of the Wild at some point, and probably not even add it here, and unless I just absolutely love it, I'm probably going to finish the main dungeons, the quests that look neat, and then go beat up the evil pig for the triangular cheese. I have new experiences that I'm actually excited about; I don't have time to waste on collecting 900 fucking seeds. I'm like this cat: [Link] I might have to check that out if I like Saints Row 2, which I got for free. I'm really starting to like WRPGs, so who knows what kinds of new discoveries I'll make.

No worries and I’m sorry that it has been taking me a month to get back to you. I have not been on Steam for a long time either. Glad to hear that you enjoyed both games!

I will definitely let you know when I go through Planet Robobot. Maybe next month? Kirby does have costumes for his copy abilities. And it that is your favorite Kirby game, than I am definitely looking forward to it.

Oh, yeah, I can see how it'd be hard to take them seriously after that. I'm in the same boat, though; I think it'd be fun to take Fallout's systems and put them into a first-person game.

I recently saw some footage where someone broke 3 weapons on a single non-boss enemy. I feel like that wouldn't be that big of a deal if it were something like the games it's trying to imitate, where conversation is often the preferred option, but Link doesn't talk; that's his thing. Well, I didn't mean that the gameplay was going to be similar to Mario is Missing - though if I see some Einstein-looking motherfucker in a lab coat, walking down the street, I'm going to lose it - just that it kinda reminded me of that with Mario out in a realistic world. At least he's human, and it won't be as creepy as Sonic '06. I do like the premise.

If you look at games like The Elder Scrolls, though (at least the older ones), you can't actually do it all on one run. If you join the Fighters' Guild and the Thieves' Guild, you'll eventually run into a quest where the two are diametrically opposed, and you're going to have to screw one of them over. Then, there's Daggerfall, which, to my knowledge, no one has ever completed, because the game's world is as large as real-world Brittain. It's made to be a game where you jump in, go to the places that interest you, take on a few quests, and when you're ready, take on the evil big-bad; you can beat the game in 15 damn minutes, if you really want to. The point I was making is that no game should ever have 900 collectibles, because regardless of the size of the world, it's tedious to hunt them all down, even if you're playing something like Pac-Man, where they're all very visible and obvious. I don't know; this just keeps seeming less and less like something I have any interest in playing.

Thanks! I didn't even realize it was happening until I saw all of the messages on my page.

Fallout is definitely one of those games that takes a certain time investment to get into; much like Wind Waker, the game gets off to a pretty bad start. It's also the opposite of Wind Waker, because that gets better when the world starts to open up, whereas Fallout gets better when you start getting more focus on your goals and where they lie. The actual story is nothing special, but the ways that you are able to interact with the story (you can be a spy, a diplomat, a thief, or just blow shit up) are numerous and well implemented. I asked a friend of mine about them, and she said that after Fallout 2, I could easily skip right to New Vegas and miss nothing. She didn't recommend 3, and said that 4 has a completely stupid story that's badly implemented into the way the game has to be played. I'll be following her advice, but if I really like the gameplay in New Vegas, I might try 3 and/or 4 just for the gameplay.

I have no problem with breaking weapons, but it seemed like they break entirely too quickly, and there is absolutely no indication as to their current durability until they're about to snap. I'd love to play a Zelda game with some weapon variety, really, and the weapons they have look really cool, and I stand by the statement that it's a good idea to expand upon the crafting system that they had in Skyward Sword, and this is a great next step. I think it's the + and - buttons that seemed especially small to me, but I've have to hold it again to be sure. I kinda thought so; I hadn't even thought of the 2 screens thing. Super Mario Odyssey seems like something I'd like to watch, just to see how it pans out. It almost looks like they're remaking Mario is Missing by the setting, which would be an interesting idea. I don't know that I'd want to actually play it, though, because I tend not to like the 3D Mario games.

I don't know about that; from what I understand, Breath of the Wild forces a completionist mindset into a big open world, which is just about the opposite of doing it well. The idea is freedom; not scouring a gigantic landscape for 900 tiny seeds that are very well hidden. Of course, I haven't played either, so I could just be talking out my ass.
