RCR was a little mindless at times, but good fun. The writing is great, though it is a barrage of references to old games and movies - so heads up on that end.

Game plays well, everything feels natural and the city seems big enough (though not too big). There are a few situations where the gameplay changes up entirely and these can be cool, or frustrating, or a combination thereof.

I haven't gone back to do Free Mode yet, so I don't know how that will stack up as far as replayability and gameplay without direction are concerned.

Rupeeland is... unique, I guess. That answer is kind of a cop-out but it does sort of defy conventional genre. I will be blogging about it in depth when I finish, but I will try to give a brief overview.

Game is naturally all about rupees. They are your life force, how you negotiate with NPCs, how you progress to new areas, how you unlock dungeons. It's an overhead game, battles are automatic though you can speed them up by tapping the dust cloud that Tingle and the monster are in. Monsters drain your rupees, so you need to spend rupees to hire a bodyguard so that you can kill monsters faster. When you complete a task, you can often try to set your own prize. When you are hiring or paying for something, you can often try to negotiate your own price.

What gets dicey is that you have to balance multiple tasks and try to keep your progression going strong and all of it depends on one variable - your rupees. So there's a lot of sacrifice and a lot of gain.

It's hard to start on this without getting into too deep of detail. But I will say that the game has a lot of humour and flavour, but a lot of caveats will apply since it is very very much an acquired taste. That's usually the case with the "unique" genre, ha ha.
