The concept does indeed defy that of the main Castlevania idea. Castlevania now is known to be (well, the old ones anyway) quite a challenge, some of the hardest games out there I'd say actually. I suppose part of the problem with the game, actually a big part of it, would be the translation issues. I personally found them to be more cryptic and forced you to think really hard, but even then it was still a problem. To be clearly honest I think one of the biggest reasons it gets such negative critique today is thanks to the AVGN episode. I love AVGN and could watch him all day, but people do tend to take those videos a little too seriously. And yes, I agree, the music was one of the best parts of it. After all, it spawned Bloody Tears.

Well congrats on beating the trilogy completely! The second one was really good I think, I really disagree with the negative criticism it gets. It's a lot like Zelda II in a way, just not so.. frustratingly difficult.

Damn, congratulations on beating Castlevania III. One of my favorite games, but definitely one of the hardest. In fact I personally think it is -the- hardest!
