It's too bad you're not digging Actraiser, but I totally understand why you wouldn't. It really was a game of it's era. The appeal of Actraiser was the mind-blowing production values (graphics, sound) at the time. The gameplay itself was an interesting mishmash of action and sim that really hadn't been seen very often before (especially not on the consoles of that era). In retrospect, neither game system is particularly engrossing on it's own, and as expected, the impressiveness of the tech at the time has lost it's luster.
