I know, I'm a monster! I was absolutely certain that the Goomba and Koopa amiibos were gonna be released on Odyssey's release, alongside Mario, Peach and Bowser in their wedding costumes. I double-checked online and realized I got that wrong, but by then, I had already left the video games store and was well on the way back home (it takes 1 hour to get there, BTW - I didn't have time to go back). I'll buy it when Odyssey releases, and pray to God they don't run out of stock in the meantime.

Dang, I haven't ever gotten remotely close to 300%, but I can imagine how unforgiving it is. I saw some gameplay at 345%. ( [Link] ) I guess it's doable if there aren't any players that barely know what to do (like me ). Congrats. I spent a significant amount of time just to get back to Profreshional (the max rank). I kept on playing with somebody that was particularly afwul and barely did anything to help us, so it took a while. I think I'm getting slightly better now, but I feel like I'm always getting targeted by 3 bosses at once, or ganged by 10 of the normal fishes as soon as I run out of ink. I wish equipment had some effect in SR, I could sure use Ink Saver for less ink consumption.
What a coincidence, I ran into a squid party today too! I took some snaphots, but they're all blurry because I had to take them with my tablet's camera (I can't transfer them to PC). Hopefully you can tell what's going on. (There's 5 of them) [Link] I saw two people hanging out togheter at the side of the map and I decided to join in the fun. Sadly no one else did, and they just kept on killing us. I got a couple amusing matches out of this, though, and it was a nice change of pace.

Really? Because as anybody who ever studied or practiced gastronomy could tell you, mayonnaise is so much better than ketchup that there shoudn't be a comparison.
You can put ketchup on fries, hot dogs, and hamburgers. That's pretty much it.
Mayonnaise on the other hand can compliment many dishes, can be used in different salads as either a dressing or the main thing that holds the stuff together (in the case of a potato or corn salad), it makes almost any sandwich 10 times better instantly, and can be made at home very easily in a few minutes.

Sure, I think many children are playing the game, and they might prefer ketchup because it has a stronger flavor and it's also kinda sweet, but that can actually be a bad thing except if you want your whole dish to taste like ketchup.

Anyway... I don't have the game sadly, but I'm definitely rooting for team mayo, and it should definitely have much more votes if it's really that unpopular right now.

Yeah, it's a shame you can't play with friends unless you make a team of 4. The normal Friends option doesn't seem to work.
I did way worse instead. My connection was plagued with errors and disconnects for some reason, so I could only finish 1 match every 10 minutes. And I lost 12 out of 20. Honestly, I thought I did decently, often getting over 900p - it's either my teammates that can't keep up, or as you said, the enemies which are always better than you. Or, y'know, they just have 3 Aerosprays while your team has none. The worst moment was when I broke into the enemy base in the port stage multiple times, but nobody ever followed me (despite spamming "Come with me!" ). I guess I'll get the max rank tomorrow with a more refreshed mind.
BTW, what is your strategy for the new stage? I'm terrible at it, I always get cornered and die. Nothing I do seems to be an effective strategy.

That seems pretty exciting, I've never heard of anything similar to that. I would totally take part to such an event if it happened near my town.
OK, I'll be waiting. Do you know if you can just join in my lobby, or do I have to quit and create a new team first?
I'm jealous. Interestingly, my record of ~1350p happened on that stage too. Maybe it's the biggest one in the game? The fact that the opponents kept on making new ink to cover definitely helped.
While we're talking about records, I thought I might as well share this: [Link] I got an insane amount of kills in this match. Sadly we still lost, I think ended up being something like 44% vs 46% for them.

I had a couple matches where exactly that happened, but the camping team (we) won them both. If the enemies only realize they can do that at the end of the match, they won't make a clutch comeback.
Oh, that sounds like fun. (at least based on what I understood with Google Translate) It sounds like a race in Mario Kart Wii in which everyone uses that duck bike to me.
I think I'll start playing very early. I might even begin before the Splatfest starts to play some Salmon Run. What time do you think you'll start playing? Just asking because I want to take some short breaks to avoid becoming too worn out, and it would suck if you start playing right as I'm resting.

Don't worry, I'm used to taunts by now. I do it all the time.
Yeah, at that point I gave up on everything. You killed me just because I didn't see the bomb you threw quickly enough. That's a weakness I have, actually - for some reason I can't tell if any bomb I see is my team's or the enemies', or sometimes they just blend in so well I can't even see them.
Well, today I played again with a more refreshed mind (I was tired yesterday)and I don't know if I should be disappointed or happy. I lost 7 matches in a row, AGAIN, and it's very frustrating. However, most of the time I did lead my team's way, often getting near the enemy's base first and claiming it. But after dominating the first half of any given match, everything goes horribly wrong in the stupidest of ways. Sometimes, right after I die and before I respawn, my WHOLE team gets annihilated after getting stage control, and then we just lose because I have nowhere to jump to.
I look forward to the splatfest and playing with you. Maybe I'll actually manage to do something.

So today was THE worst day I've ever had in Splatoon. An endless shower of losses that brought my weapon's "rank" from roughly 10 to 2, some very sloppy play both me and my temmates had, and my Internet booted me off every 15 minutes. So often, I even got banned now (for 5 mins, but still). It's never happened before. I feel like an useless noob now.

My main problem with that wave is that you still have to put the golden eggs in the basket. You either keep shooting at the enemies, or pause a moment to secure the eggs. That's what throws me off, as soon as one player stops shooting, the whole team gets overwhelmed. But if nobody puts the eggs in the basket, the team loses because you run out of time.
Yep, I agree. It's my mood when my team never cooperates and I start losing more than 3 times in a row. The game is evil sometimes.
Wow, that's awful, I would get very pissed if that happened to me too. I still try my best even in 3v4 matches, though. It's still possible to win them, even though it's insanely hard.
They actually kinda deserve the jump attack. Without it, they would be left defenseless against face-on combat, forcing them to constantly retreat. The weapon I despise the most instead is the bucket. Decent at inking turf, and great at close-range attacks. Maybe rollers have problems dealing with them, I dunno, but it's insane how destructive they are.
C-rank players are terrible now, they're either new players who are unfamiliar with the new modes, or are so awful they are stuck at that rank. B-rankers, instead, are definitely better. They generally know when to attack and retreat. However, I saw B-rank players make tactical mistakes (like heading the way for yourself in Rainmaker when there are many opponents around) pretty frequently, and some just didn't seem to know how to collaborate with their team at all. They're good, but not amazing at all.

Blocked and reported, no one talks bad about Mayo on my backlog
I'm only choosing Mayo because I feel like Pearl needs more support because I feel some players aren't choosing with the head on their shoulders if you catch my drift.

How are you supposed to survive at those difficulties? My team rarely gets through a night wave, I feel like there are too many enemies all at the same time and we can't deal with all of them. As soon as even one of us stops shooting to grab a golden egg, we get overwhelmed.
That sounds exactly like one of my typical bad days. I managed to get a 8-lose streak not too long ago, even though I constantly tried my best - needless to say, I was pretty salty.
That's very weird. I've seen people quit at the last moment before a match begins, causing a 7-player match (even in Ranked, it's the worst when that happens), but all lobbies had 8 players at one point. I had some matches where the app shows a team with only 3 players, but all of them had a lobby with 8 players at one point. Are you completely sure there was no 8th player, ever? Maybe the 7th player quit right as the 8th joined, taking up the 7th slot... At least your team had all of the higher-levelled players to help balance that, the game's matchmaking system can be evil at times.
The Aerospray is one of the best weapons for Turf War, so if you think that's gonna be your most played mode, definitely keep using it.
Nice, those themes are already WAY better.

Honestly, I thought the UFO wave was pretty tame, while the night waves were insanely hard. There are just too many enemies all at once for my tastes. Using the roller offensively like that actually worked for most matches I played on my own, I just wasn't used to have so many enemies gang up on me all at once. In fact, I definitely need to get used to higher difficulties before playing with you again. At least I know how to deal with most events and enemies now.
Oh, so it's called Rainmaker? I thought it was called Bazookarp for the longest of times (that's how it got translated), thanks for letting me know. It's my favorite out of the three. It's kinda like Salmon Run, as in you have to collaborate with your teammmates to defeat the enemies and get to the end. Maybe you will like it more than the others.
I have the opposite experience with that attack - if an opponent sees me, he will keep on shooting at me until I die. The ink projectiles are very big too, splatting opponents isn't too hard. Another issue is that it's WAY too good at Ranked. It can easily turn the tides of the battle in both the tower and the zones mode, especially if two people use it at the same time (it happened a lot).
I would have rather not voted any of the two, honestly. I hope Nintendo won't continue basing Splatfests on food, I just don't like this theme.

Sadly people like that second one exist. I remember a particular brush user that managed to score only 150p and no kills. Not only that, as soon as I got near him, he got so scared, he didn't even attempt to counterattack me or flee. I can't tell if he was a troll or simply terrible (if you unlock a brush, you HAVE to know how to play in the first place).
The grenades aren't very useful for Turf War, but they are pretty useful for regaining stage control in the Splat Zones mode. They're definitely not as effective as that flying jetpack special attack, though. Speaking of Ranked, do you even play it? Last time I checked your profile in-game, your best rank was C- IIRC.
I tried the Dynamo Roller, I don't like it. It feels more like a sniper rifle than a roller. I could barely ink anything with it, let alone kill opponents. It's useful if you camp for all of the match, but that's just not my style. Between a roller that can barely kill, and one that hits hard but takes 2 years to swing, I'd rather pick a roller that can do both things. I did try camping with the normal roller sometimes, and while it's not as effective as the Dynamo, it's still decent.
Wow, those Salmon Run matches were tough! I practied for an hour or so today and I pulled through decently, but I definitely wasn't ready for such an intense amount of danger at all times. How did you think I played? I know I sucked terribly when the game gave me the Blaster(?). It's just so slow and has a terrible range, I couldn't find any pratical use for it.

That's interesting, I also lost the match in which I painted the most. I scored something like 1350p, because my teammates were all awful and hardly painted anything, while the opponents somehow never found me to ambush and kill me.
Is that the gun that you have to charge and then it shoots automatically for a couple seconds? Grenades and Splashdown is an great combo IMO, that sounds like a good weapon.
I already unlocked that roller (level 20) and I did some practice with it, but I'm not sure if I wanna use it or not. The attacks just seem too slow, it's near useless for killing an opponent if they spot you. The increased attack range and damage do seem interesting, though, and the mine sub-weapon is definitely a lot more useful than the curling one. If it had Splashdown it would've been awesome, but sadly, I have no idea how to use that laser special. How did that scary roller play? Ink everything, or stay back and kill others while camping?
Oh, if you say so. I don't like how the tutorial just threw at me all of the bosses togheter, it made everythong pretty confusing. I guess I'll only learn by playing.

I'm also considering what abilities do I want. Stealth Swim and Swim Speed+ are very useful. I also really like Eco-Color main (lets my ink reserve last longer) and Ink Recharge+ (lets my ink refill faster), I feel like they help the rollers cover ground much faster. For Ranked, Respawn Time- is essential to prevent enemies from dominating, while I don't think it's very useful for friendlies.
Honestly, curling bomb spams don't scare me - actually, I usually try to splat the user before the attack ends and instantly cover all ink the bombs created. During said attack, all the opponent can really do is retreat.
I still cannot remember how to kill half of the boss enemies in Salmon Run, so I don't see myself going anywhere past 50% difficulty for a while. I just really wish every player could just choose their own weapon to bring in. You wouldn't have to deal with rifles or anything you can hardly use well.
Oh, I see. When I played, I rarely found any enemy. Instead, I just went everywhere and inked the whole island as if it was a Turf War. (I was still terrible when I last played. ) I felt like I was holding my team back, that's why I didn't enjoy playing at first.
I didn't join yesterday since I was tired and didn't want to play, but I'll be sure to have some rounds with you tomorrow. I'll check at different times of the day and mke sure to join you if I see you online.

Yeah, I do check the app a lot and buy all 4-slots or any 3-slots clothing thay catches my eye. Sadly, it simply didn't offer many 4-slots or 3-slots clothing lately. I did get some shoes with the stealth super jump ability, though. What do you think of that power? I thought it was kind of useless, since even if opponents don't see the landing spot and can't camp there to kill you, I still died quickly if I arrived in the middle of the action.
No sweat, I'm playing in Italian so I don't know how many attacks/weapons are called either (I look them up). The Baller is indeed that hamster ball, and I agree it's not that good. The bomb spam is more useful in many more situations.
I played it a couple times, but I didn't like it as much as other online modes. It's mostly because you're forced to use particular weapons instead of picking your own, and how you even have to switch weapons between each round. It just confused me. Collaborating with people you don't know is hard enough, but adapting to new weapons constantly is just annoying. I guess I'll play some matches with you if you want, I meant to play some more Salmon run eventually anyways.

I have lost a lot too, especially after you quit, but that's mostly because I got awful luck with my opposite team, and they got a lot of those powerful Aerosprays.
Thing is, I didn't see you either. Sometimes you were just standing in my way, even when you had plenty of room to escape. Maybe you weren't looking at me. At least I'm glad splatting you 6 times in a match was enough to win against you.
I really like the Ninja Squid too - sadly, I only found two shirts with that ability, and both have two slots. All of my better gear (without rerolling, I don't use that yet) seem to have 2 slots, actually.
There is an upgraded version of the Aerospray - I checked online, and its secondary and super weapons are the Sprinker and the Baller, respectively. It's unlocked very late, though, so you might want to stick to this weapons for now of go back to the Junior.
Ah, am I really so threathening now? Thanks!
I don't use the jump attack too often, that's right - I think it's a little too slow to be useful against enemies, you're just wide open to attacks while you're using it. The ground attack is faster, so I usually use that, or flee to higher grounds and splat enemies from there. All ranged attacks with the roller kill the enemies in TWO hits, so that must be definitely lag.
I doubt I will switch my main weapon now, yeah. The first roller has everything I want it to have - powerful attack, fast enemy ink cover, and a great option to retreat (the special).

Oh, you think I improved a lot? Thanks! All I really did was adjust the camera's speed (it made a much more significant difference than I though) and focus on covering the enemies' ink instead of actively pursuing every enemy I see.
Looking up can be useful rarely IMO, mostly to see if there's an enemy above you.
I didn't experience too much lag, especially in matches with you. The worst came earlier, when I rammed into an enemy for a good 3 seconds before it finally took damage and died.
Oh yeah, 3-vs-4 matches can be insane sometimes. I kinda felt like I was holding my team togheter, we weren't losing that bad before I left. I actually had pretty bad luck with my teammates today, I've had a match where I was paired with 3 newbies and had to try to ink everything alone (I did get an amazing score of 1350p+, though).

This is my first experience with Splatoon, I guess all beginners have these problems at the beginning. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna keep on using the roller though, I'm already decent at it and I don't feel like learning another weapon.
Yeah, I know. I'm trying to avoid picking too many fights and instead focusing on painting everywhere, and it's going WAY better - although sometimes I still run against enemies and try to kill them before they get too far.
In fact, I tried out that roller, and as soon as I saw it's much weaker, I switched back to the default one.
I'm still using motion controls, but I only ever used them to look up and down - I use the right stick to turn left and right instead. It's cubersome for other weapons, but it seems to work pretty well for rollers.
(BTW, sorry for disconnecting in the middle of our last match today - it happens very rarely, but sometimes my Internet stops working and kicks me out of the match. I'm in the countryside right now, and the Switch's weak Wi-Fi doesn't help either. )

It's kind of the opposite for me - I can't get to over 600p with any weapon that requires aiming, but with the Roller, I can very easily get over 700p, sometimes even 900p.
I blame my weapon for being slow, but yeah, I am careless. I know I have to flee every time I see an opponent, but when there's one left vulnerable, or when an opponent is trying to cover a huge part of your ink/getting near you team's base, I just want to stop them before things go downhill (it's happened a lot). And yeah, I use that jump attack sometimes, even for distance attacks too - it's just that most of the time, I forget it exists.
I tried many weapons I unlocked, but I just can't aim to opponents and splat them. Whenever I pick a fight with opponents, I aim at them, but my ink just seems to go elsewhere, and so I just die. That's why I resorted to using the Rollers, because they use the least aiming possible. I also tried the other Roller I unlocked at level 7, but I don't like how it's completely useless at combat, and I just really like the first weapon's super attack (which I do use to scare off opponents and flee sometimes).
I do play with motion controls, but mostly because I'm lazy to turn them off. I mostly use the right stick to turn around.
I agree, the tower stage is terrible. What I mostly dislike about them is how you can just fail a jump and die instantly if you aren't constantly looking down. It's awful.
I have played way more games than you see here. I merely started keeping track when I made my Backloggery account.
