One with a lot of weird foreign clothing, furniture, and a few GB, Wii, and PS2 games. There was mostly licensed shovelware, and Xenoblade for some reason. I guess the adults weren't aware of the rarity of the game and seemed to wanna just get rid of it.

I mean, the box had a bunch of scratches and the inside of the case smelled like fish for some reason, but the game works, and that's all I cared about.

I kinda realized it's gonna be hard to comitt time to a long RPG like this, on top of school work, so it'll probably sit in the back burner for awhile before I get to it. It's either that, or buy an entire new console just for 1 game. I'll be skimming some guides in the meantime.

That's awesome. I've heard a lot about the bosses in the game being really fun. I've recently gotten into the Zelda series. So far, Link's Awakening, while being a godsend compared to the two NES Zelda's, is a pretty easy ride so far. It's kinda odd, after brute forcing Zelda 1 and getting constant deaths in Death mountain in Zelda 2, this feels really weird having easy mode.

I'll probably go to A Link to the Past after Link's Awakening, since although I've beaten it before, that was like 8 years ago and I hardly remember it. Figured I'd get most of the 2D ones done before moving onto the 3D ones.

How is the Shadow of the Colossus playthrough going? I've heard a lot of good things about the game. I just never had the console to ever play it.

I'm using an emulator with a USB Gamecube controller (using the D-pad for movement). Since I just started playing the game, getting used to the controller is quite a transition from Zelda 1.

It was something about a slogan for a citrus fruit's physician... "I Patch Lemons!".

I had a really bad pun for "eyepatch lemons", but it barely made sense. So I decided against it. Interesting change. ...Reminds me of the Dumans in Phantasy Star Portable 2:Infinity, but that might just be because I recently got hold of a copy.

Which is totally worth it. I can agree with that. </sarcasm>

Oh my goodness yes (at least from her incarnation in the PSP remake, anyway. Dunno about the original). Instead of throwing doves, she shoots magic. Instead of unique subweapons, she has all the basic ones. She has button combo spells, most of which are pretty powerful. She can still do her slide, but adds a kick to the end. She can kick with the other attack button, and does a leaping kick if pressed while running. Maria has a lower jump than Alucard/Richter, but can triple jump and do the super jump. All in all, she's pretty fun to play as. Makes me wonder why she was cut from the PSX release.

Yeah, I've been meaning to complete OOT for awhile now and I could never motivate myself to play it on console. It honestly is a really well-done remaster/remake. Especially the text speed (like holy crap, TECHNOLOGY IS INCREDIBLE). The owl can go fuck off, faster now.

I can definitely see why a lot of people like this game though. The bottom screen menu and extra hotkeys really make the experience a lot better. Only problem is Z targetting though since my 3DS L button tends to be very unresponsive. Luckily, it's not too much of a burden since simply blowing into the L button (I know that sounds really wrong) provides a temporary fix.

Well, now that I've got better weapons and armor, I'm barely using the magic, but it was kind of a necessity early on (and really, I'd love to incorporate the teleporting fireball move into my boss fight routine, but I can't pull it off reliably).

It doesn't help that I'm atrocious at button combos in general. I'm useless at fighting games other than Smash Bros., and playing as Zero in any Mega Man game is consistently harder because I can't consistently pull off his moves. We'll see how much of an issue it is in SotN; at least a failed button combo still attacks the enemy with the whip!

I have no problem with bullet-hell patterns in games. I see them and go "Oooh! Neat!" I actually want more of them in my games! It's just CotM's dash sucks too much.

Yeah, I'm just not having fun with CotM at all. The DDS ability mixing is about all I'm truly enjoying, and even that joy is muffled by how thinly spread these card drops are. Fighting the dash mechanic in addition to bosses' bullet-hell patterns is only frustrating.

Not a fan of HoD, unfortunately, purely for the dimension swapping and my inability to remember what obstacle was where. Can't deny that it's actually fun, though.

Yep! Remixing older music is just something Castlevania has always done. Portait of Ruin handles bosses in much the same way that Dawn of Sorrow does, but without drawing the seals. You can rest easy :P

The Castlevania series as a whole tends to remix and reuse older songs, most notable are "Vampire Killer"(CV1), "Bloody Tears"(CV2), and "Don't Wait Until Morning"(Haunted Castle). Order of Ecclesia is no exception in this, but reuses some of the less common themes like "The Sinking old Sanctuary" (CV:Circle of the Moon). I feel it helps ties the series together as a whole, as they aren't comprised solely of remixes. There's always enough new for it to still feel fresh. Highly recommend looking up some OSTs on the internet if this interests you. While I'm at it I'll also recommend the other NDS game "Portrait of Ruin" (it receives too much undue hate, imo) if you liked "Dawn of Sorrow".
Okay, enough of Lemon.
