Once I wrap up games I'm playing now (Vaporum: LD, DQ: Builders, Ion Fury) I'm gonna be gaming less for a bit for other hobbies. Only multiplayer.

It's addicting! This is actually my first foray into the DQ series, and I'm kinda digging the story, atmosphere, enemies, and the charm. I definitely want to pick up the original trilogy sometime though. Maybe if they go on sale on the app store.

☆☆★★★ It's good, but not as good as the first game. I like the story expansion and it being a prequel to the original game in another person's POV. Exploring and using gadgets is still fun. Secrets are rewarding, but most are annoyingly cryptic. This game suffers from a lot of insta-death traps and has a lot of puzzles, some with logic that doesn't make much sense. Not as bad as LoG2, but a bit frustrating.

(Normal, 29:05, Level: 41) Back to Halure. That was seriously the worst boss in the whole game. I need my party healer back.

★★★★★ I love it similar to Symphonia, but different too. There are some similarities in character personalities (Estelle = Colette, Raven = Zelos etc), however the characters are still unique enough, and I think the plot suffers a bit with too much going on. That said, the dynamic between characters is excellent and one of the funniest ensembles of characters I've ever experienced. Combat is SIGNIFICANTLY better than Symphonia too. It's tough to say which one I like more!

☆★★★★ Really fun home renovation simulator. Lots of furniture options. Lots of ways to renovate your house, from building walls to demolishing rooms and theming each room. It's neat that you can build up your office with progressively better homes too. However I wish you got extra money for picking themed furniture in tasks (interior design emphasis), and I wish you could buy a plot and build the entire house from scratch. Great fun!

☆★★★★ My friend's pick for the Steam 2020 Winter Sale Multiplayer w/ Friends. A LOT more fun than I initially thought! It's D&D but easier to play and understand. There's a lot of strategy, useful items, events akin to D&D (could be good or bad), and there's bits of humour sprinkled about. I do like the "Lore points" system where you can buy enhancements to your current/future playthroughs. Complaints: A bit slow, a bit TOO RNG-based, scaling prices is terrible, taunting is useless later on, nix tank.

Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten
Focus: Only playing one game
Thank you

I definitely enjoy whodunnit, both in book and video game form.

I read the first book of the Ender’s Game series and enjoyed it (I also had the luck of being completely unspoiled about the ending); Dune has been on my to-read pile for some time, I’ll wait for a weekend where I have literally nothing else to do to enjoy it.

I know of Goodreads, and I mostly use it to keep track of my backlog, a bit like this site, than for anything else.

The Switch and Valkyria Chronicles 4 both come from a clearance sale at a shop that was closing down. I had been thinking about getting a Switch mostly because I’m looking forward to Bravely Default 2 — although I won’t be rushing out to get it as soon as it’s released, I’ll wait at least until summer, when I’ll have the time. Other games I’m thinking of playing on it are Super Mario Odyssey and Octopath Traveler, maybe some other RPGs and, why not, I’ll catch up on some last gen games that I missed.

Enjoy your games then. Right now I don’t have a computer powerful enough to run most Steam or Gog games, so I had to put most of them on hold (I tried and it looks like it can only play the older Ys games without stuttering or crashing, so maybe I just found the excuse to go and get through them), so for the moment I’m holding back from checking sales and Humble Bundle. Maybe in a few months.

Sadly so. As a translator I can work from home, so thankfully and luckily I didn’t have too many problems on that front, but I know people who were hit pretty badly by the lockdowns. Hopefully from now on things will be looking up.

Right now I’m going through my book backlog too, mostly detective and mystery novels when I want to wind down, and science fiction of various degrees of seriousness and cheesiness depending on my mood.

I managed to get a Switch for cheap, which opens me to temptation to many of the games on there. To balance that out, in a way, I currently don’t have a computer strong enough to run anything too complex. For the moment I’m keeping busy with Valkyria Chronicles 4, it’s always a fun time. Compared to the first it’s a bit easier early on, but from what I’ve heard the NG+ gets tougher.

It's been quite a hectic couple of years for me as well, though surprisingly 2019 more than 2020 - if anything, in the last few months I did manage to settle a few things and put some order in my life; my family is doing well too overall.

Right now I'm kicking back and enjoying the fact things seem to have finally slowed down a bit, and I'm taking my time playing some games and reading. I'm going through some stuff in my backlog, and playing a couple games I've been meaning to try for some time.

And you? Did you play something interesting lately?
