I think the game is now trying to push me away from village quests to hub quests, but the jump in difficulty may be proving too much for me.

Now I want you to imagine you're playing Phantom Hourglass, while being left-handed.

That is what Child Me endured. But damn if it isn't a fine game I had a great time with.

...Honestly if memory serves though, most actions you'd be doing with the stylus are pretty "you can be standing still" things. I don't recall struggling at all with bring left-handed actually... huh.

I did notice the developers behind Homebody go by the name Game Grumps. I assume that's not the Game Grumps I'm thinking about. It does look pretty neat, though. I wishlisted it for now.

"No item boxes" already sounds bad. Apparently, instead of storing items in RE0, you drop them, and can pick them back up later? Sounds like they just went about it differently. I feel like it would have been better if they just kept the item boxes in with the added drop mechanic. I don't know if I'm looking forward to that lol.

So, after you play RE0, what's the first spin-off you want to get into? Revelations, maybe? That might be where I start. I also recommend considering Sweet Home on NES, if you don't mind going back that far. If only just to play it for an hour to get familiar with it. Resident Evil 1 started off as a remake of that game in its early development.

Heh, yeah I was extremely underwhelmed as a big RE3 fan when that remake came out. I must have beat the game in a couple of days. If not for work, it probably would have been over in a single night. The game is just so short with iconic moments from the original completely missing. Especially that whole Clock Tower section. It really didn't help my argument with a friend of mine at the time that the original RE3 is one of the best in the series. Despite all that, I still had fun with it while it lasted, but still... I didn't even replay the game.

That auto-aim mechanic took some time to get used to. You're definitely not the only one who struggled with that. That dodge mechanic was also extremely hard to master. I'm pretty sure even speedrunners don't have it perfected. I think it helps to have Jill in the middle of her animation for when she's getting ready to aim, so I typically just press the aim button when I'm trying to dodge.

I'll give you props if you were able to finish Echoes of the Eye, even with a guide. That sort of thing, I'd personally rather just watch a playthrough of, 'cause it was starting to get a little frustrating playing all those parts over and over again. Oh yeah, absolutely! Discovering the DLC itself was no doubt the best part about it. I don't think I've ever experienced anything quite like that in a video game. It's fucking brilliant, and I do appreciate the bigger emphasis on horror as well.

Took me a month (or so it feels like..) to get back to my comments. I'm sorry about that. I kept your comment saved so I could still respond to it, though.

I'll have to look into Homebody. It's not too often you hear about games that were inspired by Clock Tower, or even look like they were. I know that feeling lol. My horror backlog is insane, and I'll likely never fully catch up with it.

I still have to get around to playing Revelations and RE0, after all these years. I don't think I've played a whole lot of RE spin-offs in general, like Survivor, Dead Aim, Outbreak, and all that. I did play the Gun Survivor 2 arcade machine that was based on CV a few times, though.

If I were to rank the games in my own completely biased way, it'd go something like... (that's a really tough one lol) RE2 > REmake > RE2R > RE1 > RE3. Had to make it a top 5 so I could include 1 and 3, since I love the original trilogy overall. RE4R and RE7 are also up there! I like that they're among your favorites. I think RE3 is underappreciated these days, mostly due to how much of a disappointment its remake was. It didn't do the original Nemesis justice, sadly.

I'm always accidentally calling Outer Worlds "Outer Wilds" when referring to it, haha. Outer Wilds is amazing, though. I couldn't get enough of the space exploration, and the discovery was the best thing about it. I really liked the DLC, but it was difficult. I feel like I would have liked it more had they gotten rid of the timer the moment you access it. Maybe that wouldn't make sense, but I just felt way too pressed for time, more so than exploring the game normally.

Thanks! I like to think that I have good taste, heh. Oh, you should definitely play Clock Tower. I've been a big fan of that series ever since I was a kid.

I see you're playing Metroid Fusion. That's a really good one. Which Resident Evils have you played? Do you have a favorite yet?

Outer Wilds is so unlike anything I've played. SOMA is way up there for me, too, even though I just recently played it. I'm glad you were able to enjoy those! It's not too often I talk to someone who even knows about Outer Wilds in particular.
I see the spine of the world...
