Back to video gaming, playing one game at a time, focus on Mad Max and looking for a 'Lovecraftian' (secondary) game on any platform - recommendations welcome.

Wizardry needs to wait, 3/6 characters dead, need to backtrack to buy resurrect potions / scrolls. Having to consult handdrawn maps ~2years ago won't be easy - it has to wait until i'm interested again.

Random Game of the Week

Mortal Kombat 5 ( 2000 ) for the Genesis

Unlicensed sega game by unkown developer. Assets and sfx are 'borrowed' from other Mortal Kombat games.
Apparently it is a side scrolling beat'em up game, featuring Subzero as the protagonist.

Resident Evil Revelations (2013 ) for the PS3

Surprisignly good controls and less FPSy than RE 5.
Nice gfx. Stupid and pretentious convoluted story.

Raid mode is expanded and fun.

Random Game of the Week

Barkley: Shut Up and Jam! ( 1994 ) for the Genesis

Nothing special graphics and sound wise, especially when there is NBA JAM on Genesis.
Very easy 2 vs 2 street basketball, won the tournament on the first play. Move on.

Random Game of the Week

Zukkoke Yajikita ( 1987 ) for the MSX2 by HAL Laboratory, Inc.

Hm this is a tough one, seems it is an obscure goemon style rpg for MSX2. The only way to play this is emulation. Checked PROJECT-EGG just in case it is there, and searched for releases on other platforms as well, but nothing.

Thankfully, there is a fan translation for the game, but i will have to setup MSX2 emulation though.

Shining Force
Tactical turn based battles rpg. Battles are interesting but become repetitive after a while. What kept me playing was the abundance of characters and the shining universe, since i had Shining in the Darkness ( dungeon crawler ).

Excellent graphics and music, some of the tracks have been widely remixed by fans of the series.
I found the game controls very cumbersome and the fact that you can't check a character's status unless you return back to headquarters is annoying.

Aye, the graphics in 6 are really offputting in terms of variety. Things pick up a bit in that dept once you get to 7 (though not really a case of leaps & bounds yet), and then when 8 rolls around it's like "where the heck was THIS 200 hours ago???"

Lol.

As for the rest, yes...grinding a bit early on to get some vital support/defense powers is pretty darned important. Once you get the anti-missiles, poison cures, and such down then life becomes a tad more enjoyable in the Wizardry universe! The dungeons...while sprawling now, will get downright immense as you go. Definitely be sure to stock up on graph paper!

The story gets suuuuuper crazy as you go. I most definitely will NOT spoil anything for you, and look forward to hearing your thoughts on the twists & turns as you go.

Enjoy!

Techno Cop
What a cheap piece of a game. Wanted criminals and a sci cop with a fancy car. Each criminal hunt is split into two sections both of which are equally abominable.

1. Drive to the criminial's premises in Chase H.Q fashion that plays similar to 8 bit conversion of Chase H.Q.
2. Platform / shooter section in a multi store level. Delayed and unresponsive controls, cheap deaths, non sensical layouts.

Apparently the only thing this game is known for, is the blood bath style body explosions when you down enemies. Cheap.
