Agreed, I have a nice backlog and I really hoped it'd last me another decade too. But after reading that, I'm hesitant to wait any longer than going through it for sure.

IT IS. I needed like 20 fucking Gayla cards and 20 Enoyle cards and 10 Ruby Dragon cards and a shit ton of Abyss Worm cards and my god, other crap that is needed for crafting materials. Christ. You're not kidding lol.

Maneuvering the Queen of Cards pisses me off too.

At first I reset every single time a character died, but not if I got a sucky level up (no casual here, but not super hardcore). Then it just got to the point where Miriel was dying every battle since she can't sponge a hit or two; Even if I kept her out of the displayed enemy range, I failed to account for an archer or stray mage hitting her from the edge of their movement limit. Alas, my favourite out of the currently available character designs is now perma-dead

Also, I killed a character with a portrait in the fight where Panne joins (and I reset 4 times and did it accidentally each time), and I figured it's about time to stop resetting and just see who survives this war, hahaha.

Does his portrait change later? :o I'm going to try to have a nice looking squad overall, so for me it's not even necessarily a matter of statistical usefulness...

Nah. He's usually not my death problem. For some reason, the gods seem to be in my favor making him dodge everything when he's down to about 5 HP.

Just based on what I was reading on the Fire Emblem Wiki that pops up whenever you search for the game, apparently, the father conversations are generally the same. I know regardless of who Yarne's father is, he'll always complain about how the father shouldn't cheat on Panne.

I think the only thing the father determines is the hair color of the child and some of the traits and classes the child will have access too.

As far as favorite character goes, it's just so hard to determine one since there are so many awesome characters. However, Lon'qu is up there and he did have some awesome pictures available on Pixiv to make a nice theme out of.

But yeah, Awakening is my first and I'm loving it. Playing a bit of Sacred Stones back then, I never really understood the mechanics of it since they kinda just throw you into the difficult pool from the start, but the game definitely serves as a great introduction to the series. It's ultimately made me more interested in the franchise as a whole considering they do all that teasing with all the Spotpass teams.

On couples, Lon'qu is staying with Cherche. That's pretty much my only definitive one for the next run. Quite literally, they have history according to their conversation and Gerome is definitely like Lon'qu whether this game likes to argue fathers or not.

Will probably run another Male MU in my next run, but I'm carefully trying to plot out whom I should marry since Morgan has the most influence as a character. I played around with possibly marrying Panne since it would be kinda interesting seeing Morgan and Yarne being siblings. :V

If anything, since this is my first Fire Emblem game, Normal is a test run for what I need to do in a more difficult run under different circumstances.

And I guess I'm using this file as a marriage check. See who works with who and whatnot. Most of the people I've paired up so far I like who they're with. Not sure if I'll actually change that in the next run.

I seem to have accomplished that Four in February thing that some people have been doing entirely on accident. Huzzah!

Oh man, I know. Leveling healers could be downright painful in previous games. That extra 10 exp makes such a huge difference in keeping healers even with the others. So far the only thing I really miss from previous FE games that isn't here are cavaliers/pegasus/wyvern riders being able to move after attacking. I know that was only in the Radiance games, but it was still so handy.

Also, pairing vs. rescuing makes for an interesting change of tactics at times. Without rescue I can't send in long range people against a boss and then pull them away before the boss' turn. Pairing makes some units practically unstoppable though, so I think I prefer it overall.

It depends on the people and their affinity how often the double strike or defend will kick in. It does get a bit ridiculous though, haha.

The problem is that those moments happen with disturbing frequency. Granted, that's been pretty awesome for me so far since the only bullshit enemy crit I've encountered was a swordsman attacking Kellam. Instead of 0 damage he dealt 3.

I really enjoyed Investigations. So mad the second one didn't make it over.

It's a bit hard to describe, but you'll see tomorrow. It fits all of a unit's information onto one screen without the need to flip between pages to see their equipment, stats, movement, etc. You can also flip between that full mode and an abbreviated mode, which also changes how the damage and hit % are displayed on the top screen.

It takes a lot of things from past Fire Emblems, including characters with DLC, and does it all very well. The only issue so far is that the percentages are obviously off. I mean, My Unit has gotten 5-6 critical hits in only 4 battles, and that's at a 3% chance usually.

So far I'd have to say yes. It makes a lot of improvements to how information is displayed and pretty much every other aspect of the game. The decisions on pairing units together as one or standing them side by side while attacking adds quite a bit to the combat.

Also, the dialogue is fantastic. Seriously, so many great lines even from just 3 chapters and a side mission.

Oh its not just you, Odin Sphere IS hard if you don't grind or make all of those stupid healing items. I got stuck when the fairy character (forgot her name) ran out of mp to MURDER those damn slimes. SLIMES! Flimsy pos enemies that is rendered unkillable without magic. And... yeah I got super frustrated from there. Its a beautiful game but I didn't think I could replay all the characters again (in the right order) in the new game + for the more definite ending.

LOL, negligence for sure. If I was playing it, it'd still be on my "Now Playing". :D

I'm only being dramatic about it because I restarted that game several times already.
