Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten

Xenoblade is more open world, but there is still a huge focus on characters and story, at least in 1 and 2. There are some tie ins with Xenosaga as well. Both KOS-MOS and T-ELOS are unlockable blades in Xenosaga 2 for instance.

My wife is the same way. Since Breath of the Wild came out, that is all she has played. I will bet she has easily surpassed 1,000 hours. I have a couple of games left on the 3DS, but I think I am just about done with it as well.

No problem on the VN info. I too tend to focus more on the PS4 at home, but when I really get into a game, the system doesn't matter. It is more starting the game in the first place where the system comes into play. Once I got going with Xenoblade 2 last year, I was hooked for 250+ hours!

I plan on playing Spider-Man this year. I imagine it came up in our conversations before, but Spider-Man and Wolverine have always been my favorite comic book characters. Glad you are liking it so much. As much as I enjoyed the Arkham games, I think you tended to like them more. Maybe we will be opposite on Spidey - guess we will jist have to wait and see.

I have a bunch of clean-up to do on games my son wanted to play in co-op that we started, but doesn't have time to finish. My OCD hates seeing these in a barely started state, so my first quarter will be trying to clean up some of these titles. First up is Salt and Sanctuary - a fantastic 2D Dark Souls like game. I finished it on the Vita and didn't realize a separate trophy list is on the PS4. I am actually having a lot of fun playing again though. Next up is the PS4 version of Mincraft.

That is funny you remember me playing Fallout. That is when I was playing PC games at work. Couldn't get away with that nowadays. Haha. I do own the first Original Sin so will give this type of RPG another go at some point.

You might be surprised to learn that Persona 5 did away with random dungeons. They are now pretty detailed with some minor stealth and puzzle elements and combat is so fast. You were a big Xeno fan. Any interest in Xenoblade on the Switch? Oh, and I don't think you would get bored with Nier: Automata.

You still have your 3DS? Ever play it anymore?

In Chaos;Child, you do make choices in the form of choosing whether your character has positive or negative delusions. Different choices lead to different endings. Yeah, I prefer to play VN's on the Vita. My wife plays a lot of Switch so my time is more limited than other systems. I can recommend 2 VN's on the Switch that I have played - Steins;Gate is my favorite time travel story of all time and one of my favorite VN's. Root Letter is also quite good. I have heard good things but have yet to experience: AI: The Somnium Files, Yu No, World End Syndrome, Clannad, Raging Loop, and WILL: A Wonderful World. If you check any of these out, I would love to hear your thoughts.

I say that about Divinity II, but in all reality, it isn't that high of a priority for me. I think those top down Baldur's Gate style RPG's are more your domain. Not sure I've ever actually finished one. Yeah, not sure when I will get to The Witcher either. I probably didn't even averaged one television show a week in 2019 so need to devote a bit more time to catching up on some shows in 2020.

Any idea how much time you put into The Witcher 3? I know I was upwards of 150 hours but that was doing everything and about the same amount of time I put into my completionist run of Persona 5. I haven't played VC4 yet but am definitely looking forward to it. Hope you decide to try a JRPG out again at some point. I think you can run through either VC4 or Fire Emblem: Three Houses in 50 hours and both are portable.

Chaos;Child is the visual novel that got me back into the genre. It is a fantastic murder mystery with such a great cast and some unforgettable moments. Currently playing the Muv Luv trilogy - the first game is a Rom Com, but the story goes in wild directions in the next 2 games. Untitled Goose Game looks amusing from what I have seen. For me, I think more obscure Japanese games have replaced indie games for the most part.

It is a blast from the past! Good to hear from you, brother. Glad to hear you are putting the Role back into your user name. I have some interest in Pillars of Eternity, but feel like I should play the Divinity games first. I particularly like the idea of playing Divinity II on the Switch.

The Witcher 3 is an amazing game and glad you finished it. I learned my lesson about going the harem route in Persona 4. Haha. You still know me so well - I did choose Yen but it wasn't an easy choice. Good to hear that longer games are back on the table for you.

Happy New Year to you as well. I am looking forward to quite a bit in 2020 - Persona 5: The Royal, Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us Part II, plus a bunch of more obscure Japanese stuff. You have any interest in getting back to JRPG's? I've really been getting back into Visual Novels again. I remember you enjoying Hakuoki and 999. Any interest in playing any new ones? Lots of choices on the Switch. Don't be a stranger!

Good to see you playing games again! Passing fad or something you might stick with for a while? Awesome you liked Breath of the Wild so much. I plan on starting very soon.

Hope you and the misses are doing well and hope to see updates from you for a little while at least. Haha.

Why are you posting on my wall? Do I know you? haha.

Congrats on getting married! Figured it was only a matter of time since you bought a place together. Probably not much has changed for you except you have to get used to wearing the ring.

I wouldn't put Persona 5 on the same pedestal as 4, but I like it quite a bit (on par with 3 IMO). According to PSNprofiles, I started it on April 20th so I'm rapidly approaching two months with it and will likely start a NG+ when I'm done. I would put it right there with The Witcher 3 as my favorite game this gen. If you didn't realize, I have a bit of OCD. Since you've known me, it went from posting on MyIGN to beating as many games as I could in a year to trophy hunting (though at least mostly with games I wanted to play regardless), though I hope that Fire Emblem is the gateway to get me to branch back out again.

Still Transformers and Marvel figures? I'll bet it makes video games a relatively cheap habit by comparison (at least excluding the price of the actual systems). haha. Small is the way to go for a wedding reception IMO. Did you guys go on a honey moon?

Uncharted 4 is fantastic. I just played through it this year (2 or 3 times I think). I loved it the entire time, particularly the character interactions. I won't spoil anything, but it's ending is up there with Persona 4 and Final Fantasy VI as one of my favorites. Life is going well. Kids are growing like weeds and I am still gainfully employed. Sounds like you are doing well. Don't be a stranger!

Congrats on the PS4 purchase! You are in for a real treat...I love mine!! I am enjoying Arkham Knight, but have gotten distracted by Fallout 4 lately.

Hope things are going well! Talk to you later.

The quests have been well written so far, and I really dig the VATS system. I always use it in combat. And the exploration is just amazing, but that is what I expect from Bethesda.

What are you looking forward to coming up? Any specific plans for what you plan to play for the rest of the year?

Hey man, great to hear from you!

I ended up putting between 150-160 hours into Inquisition. It was all superb, and definitely my favorite game that I have played in the last year. It was awesome that they absolutely nailed this game, as the Dragon Age series deserves a blockbuster like this. Being a fan of the first two games and seeing that each one did different things so well, this was well worth the wait. My human archer was nearly invincible by the time I finished, but the game does so much right that I did not mind some of the late game battles not being overly difficult. I hope you get a chance to play it soon, as I think you will really enjoy it.

I am enjoying Arkham Knight so far, but it was not an easy start. For whatever reason, the game started off very rough for me, as I was not into it. But after a few days and short break, I am really into it. It is definitely Batman, which is great for me. The batmobile is very cool, even though the batmobile combat scenarios have already overstayed their welcome. I like that the enemy AI seems much better this time around, especially in the predator segments of the game. Enemies now can hear or see you in floor grates, and they can spot you up above if you have been discovered once and you stay too long in one spot. And the story is great, which I was not expecting.

Sounds like you and I are in agreement on Bioshock Infinite. The original is one of my favorite, if not the favorite, games of last gen. It was almost the perfect combination of combat, exploration, environment, pacing, and story for me. Infinite is a very good game, it was just not close to the original in the experience it offered me. I thought the story was good, until late game. I had a very hard time staying with it through the whole end game rush. I was a little underwhelmed, I think, at the climax when you learn about Booker and Elizabeth, etc. I remember going to youtube after the credits rolled to better understand what the hell just happened. So yeah, the ending lost me a little bit, ha-ha!

That is awesome that you plan to pick up a PS4 later this year. I like the entire Sony platform better than Xbox or Nintendo. I am very interested to see what their 1st party studios have in the works, as this fall and winter is going to be a little bare bones for them. That is ok for me though, as I plan on playing Fallout 4 soon after it is out. I am playing through FO3 right now, and I am loving it. (CONT)
