★★★★★ I'm loving it for 2 reasons. 1. It's a tight shooter and a ton of fun. 2. My friends no longer want to play Overwatch. I've been tired of that for a god damned year.

Minion of Bak'laag: 100+ unfinished games
Consider Yourself a Hero: Majority of games are beaten
I'm kind of letting the game sit because the ending kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. I pretty much loved the game out the gate and the gameplay is some of the best it's ever been, but it started feeling like a bit of a slog around the halfway point and I felt kind of lied to about not all the worlds being adaptions of Disney properties. The ending was way too rushed, and honestly, way too perfect, and all the stuff later just seemed to add further convolution for the sake of continuing the series.

Basically, I went from early on thinking it was my goty to being disappointed toward the end, but I don't think it's a bad game overall by any means.

I like Tales of games (almost entirely because I like their combat and they have a decent success rate with humor despite the cultural differences and me not being an anime fan), but you have to take the bad with the good, and the bad is pretty damn bad with Hearts.

The world is probably the most or second-most boring (Vesperia is in competition, but it wasn't a pain to backtrack/explore in that game) in the series, and the plot started out with a dumb premise and went from bad to worse. I can't recall the music enhancing anything, but the worst thing is probably the writing. Anything remotely not humorous in nature seems like it was mostly written by nine-year-olds who made some revisions when they were 13 and first became aware of darker/adult subject matter. What's really weird is that despite the poor writing, I don't dislike any of the playable cast, which might be a first for me.

I have no idea how much longer that I have left, but I can't imagine anything changing substantially enough to alter my opinion.

The social events and songs are good. It's not enough to justify charging $100 for the full pack, especially when you can unlock everything in each game in ten hours or less.

To be fair, I am merely like three hours into the game. I'm sure it will evolve into some needlessly complicated drivel, but for right now, it is a singular, stupid plot point with maybe one interesting character.

I have been playing Everybody's Golf off and on for the entire year. Eventually, I will get through it!

Oh man Hoard. During one weekend during college, I spent like 10 hours just messing around in the game.

Oh, I'm absolutely going to put more time into FF15/AC, probably in a month or so when I start running out of things to do in Destiny 2 and before the DLC for that comes out.

But that comes first.

The way I see it, leaving permadeath on but resetting upon a character's death actually creates a different kind of challenge. By resetting upon any death, you're essentially forcing yourself to do a "perfect" run of each stage where no one dies, which tends to require a different, sometimes more cautious mindset. It does feel strange at first to contradict a game mechanic directly like that, but I've come to really enjoy the feeling of perfecting each map to the point where no one dies. I'm glad you're enjoying the game a lot, it really is an excellently crafted challenge. Not once did the game feel unfair to me, and the game consistently introduces new mechanics and gimmicks with each stage so you can never really bank on the same strategy each time.

I could definitely see people wanting to turn off permadeath due to how hard the game can be. Personally, I feel like a lot of the challenge would be lost if you were allowed to sacrifice multiple characters in a chapter without losing them or having to restart the chapter to save them. But in the end, the most important thing is to have fun however you wanna do it, and thankfully you can lower the difficulty at any time if you're no longer enjoying it (though you can't go back up once you do).
