Thank you very much! It’s still kind of a surreal feeling and I’m still unpacking and setting stuff up, but I got the majority of everything unpacked. Everything is pretty much sat up, except for my office/videogame room. I at least have the office somewhat sat up.

I have not, but I’ve heard great things about Has Been Heroes. I’ll likely pick it up someday.

Thanks for your impressions for both Zero Dawn and Breath of the Wild. I think the bow and arrow controls being so different would mess with me, but I would like to play it someday. Heck, I still have not started Breath of the Wild yet. I’ll likely tackle it after I finish Yooka-Laylee. Speaking of which…I’ve really loved what I’ve played so far, which is not much, but it definitely has the feeling of a N64 Banjo-Kazooie game in 2017. I think you’ll have a great time with it and I’m going to try to play some more this week.

Well, I've yet to really get started, but I'm thinking of playing SOMA pretty soon, since that's the most resource-intensive thing I've bought so far, just to see what this thing can do. In any case, absolutely every single game that looked good for PS4 is available on PC, so I can save a fuckload of money, now. I always follow this: [Link]

Skyward Sword is, to date, the absolute worst Zelda I've played to completion; it's even a big part of the inspiration behind writing a big damn series about Zelda, where it came from, and where it's gone, and what it's become. So far, the my impression of Breath of the Wild is that it's too damn big and I don't like the blurry artstyle; I'm at least going to wait until this backlog has been slain (again), because if I'm going to have to suck away hundreds of hours of my life on a single game, I don't want to get antsy about playing the next one. I do the same thing with games like Yume Nikki for the exact same reason. I think it makes sense, but I'm really not the biggest BioWare fan. I'll probably make that journey, but I'm in no real hurry.

That's one thing that I don't get about modern society in general: watching trailers on purpose. Maybe it's because I'm old, but to me, whether it's something I might like or not, they're just commercials; that's time to get up, hit the ladies room, make a snack; whatever until I hear my show coming back on. If I'm maybe interested in something, I hop online, read a review, maybe watch gameplay videos on YouTube, but for a movie, I'm going to see the whole thing, anyway, so the trailer does nothing for me, and I don't want to burn myself out on the best parts (which is what they're showing you) before I get to do so. That said, as you know, I'm nobody's cinephile, so maybe that's where I'm missing the connection.

It's fine, Dear; life comes before crazy old women you meet in dark alleys online. We're... Well, life is fucking crazy right now, so it's been better, but we're getting there. Got this great new gaming PC, though. Like me, it's missing a few parts, but I'm going to continue building until it is truly beautiful; tonight, I was able to authenticate the operating system and enable the WiFi, which is a step in the right direction. I think I've also successfully loaded all of my software, since Free Studio got a hell of a lot better since I last used it.

At the moment, I have no plans to get Breath of the Wild or a Switch. No one game is ever going to sell me a system, and every single game since Skyward Sword or even earlier has been "the best Zelda game ever" upon release, even if it was a rerelease, so I'm going to wait until that hype dies down before even deciding if I care. I have a pretty love-hate relationship with Zelda; it's like an coke-addicted lover who's great while sober, but beats the shit out of me when s/he's high. And by beats the shit out of me, I mean strips me down to my panties, marches me out in public, and makes me do stupid shit, like herd goats or go bombchu bowling. I'm sure I can just play it at my brother-in-law's house if I really need to; he's completely obsessed with Zelda, and lives only a 20-minute walk from here.

Greetings! And yup, 2017 is treating me well so far. I’m in the process of buying a house, so that is pretty exciting, yet terrifying.

I’m liking the switch a lot so far, even if if there is not much out of it yet. I got a feeling I’m going to be playing a lot of indie games on it, specifically that Wargrove game. Don’t get me wrong, I like Fire Emblem, but I need more Advance Wars games in my life. I think the system is a cool piece of technology. I can’t wait to jump into Zelda!

I see that you are playing Horizon Zero Dawn. How is the game? I think it looks great and I’ll likely pick up a PS4 and that game if it ever comes out in a bundle.

This vacation was really something. For one thing, I was at a late-night party, and one of Dom DeLuise's sons grabbed me, pulled me into the center of the dance floor, and started twirling me; that night had many unexpected twists and turns. I slept better this past week than I have been for months, so even though I partied my ass off, I still feel pretty refreshed; it's almost like being young again. My feet have also recovered from walking around in stilettos all day; that wasn't one of my brighter ideas, but they matched my dress so perfectly that I couldn't say no.

Like in a sensory deprivation tank? I do that every so often by showering in the dark, just to let my mind run wild. Though what I see is what most people would describe as strange and horrifying, it is beautiful to me. If nothing else, it's a hell of a trip, and a nice RAM dump of sorts for your brain.

Well, if you're ever looking for a JRPG to kick your teeth in, tear your throat out with its teeth, fuck the bleeding new throat hole, and laugh while pissing on your corpse, I'd recommend SaGa Frontier. Great stories with great pacing, a really neat and satisfying way of learning new techniques, areas that are as beautiful as they are strange, tons of freedom, and a powerful soundtrack. 7th Saga is good for challenge, too, but not quite as fascinating or engrossing.

Just as long as we get a mock menu screen that details my warrior class as Cynical Bitch. Among my abilities is immunity to any attacks forged from love and/or friendship. Also to any weapon that is completely impractical from a combat standpoint; some of the weapons I'm seeing these days wouldn't actually be able to be used in combat, but exist only because they look "cool".

It was cool enough that I went out and bought Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition after we got home, so yeah. The only thing that kinda sucked about it was that the people running the booth chose your weapon; you didn't get to pick it, yourself. The world kinda forgot about virtual reality, partially in response to the spectacular failure that was the Virtual Boy. I'd like to see where it goes, but honestly, I can get just as absorbed in a beautiful world for hours on end just playing Yume Nikki in front of my TV, so I don't feel like I really need it.

Anything new? No; I almost never get a game when it's new anymore. New to me? Absolutely; pretty much my whole damn backlog has me really excited.

Hello back at you and no sweat. Summer has been going pretty good so far, but I have been pounded by work for the past couple of weeks, with lots of travel and field work.

I think VR has a lot of potential, but the amount of space that you would need so you don’t hit anything is also a concern of mine. Running into a wall or tripping over furniture is a sure way to take you out of the experience. I have not experienced the tech either, but my friend has a google cardboard w/smartphone and I was blown away with that experience, so I’m sure the real deal would be great too. As for the NX, the rumors out there have me intrigued. I’ve been doing most of my gaming on portables lately and having a handheld with roughly the power of an Xbox One sounds intriguing. Have a dockable home base would be icing on the cake.

At this time, I’m mainly looking forward towards Breath of the Wild and more recently, Sonic Mania and Sonic ’17.

I don’t know how interesting it is, but I did pick up a NES game called Rollergames and it is pretty much a beat ‘em up on roller blades. It has its fair share of issues, but it is pretty fun overall. I’ve been meaning to get Mad Max (along with a system to play it). I don’t think I have any suggestions at this time.

No problem, I always enjoy our conversations and you enjoy your summer too. Glad you like the theme and thank you, it was a great journey. Some of my highlights of the marathon included Rocket Knight Adventures (I have Sparkster for the Super Famicom in the waiting) and Yoshi’s Woolly World was like you were playing in a diorama.
