That's so great! You've got a sample of what the game is like. Once everything starts to click, like leveling up on the map to make things easier, you'll be hooked! Let's not forget they got some veteran game composers to make the score even better, including Shinji Hosoe (Dragon Spirit) and Motoaki Furukawa (Gradius.) It's clearly one helluva passion project from Yuzo Koshiro, who I never realized before actually is the CEO of Ancient!

It's hard to tell what the game is like from the screenshots alone, you'd hafta watch footage of it. You'd think maybe it's some sorta Zelda-like when in reality it's Gauntlet meets a tower defense game meets Pocky & Rocky meets Animaniacs, in terms of the writing. I'd say the aesthetic is almost as good as it can be without it straight up being a homebrew.

I skipped X and 2, but hopefully 3 can fill those gaps that I missed. I played 1 and it took 100 hours.

That sounds like a fair point about Turtles. I'm sure people will overlook any issues the game may have and enjoy it with friends and family either way or have their nostalgia bones tickled ( "Wow, it's the '80s TMNT! I feel like I'm 10 again!" ), but it's possible that the game is style over substance. Feels that way with a lot of recent games, like Demon Turf.

Man Behind the Pile ▼

Since things are basically up and running smoothly here now I figure I should probably post something about myself.

I've been playing games since basically forever. I've played an absolute ton of games, so over time my tastes have generally shifted towards games that are unique or innovative. These games tend to be overlooked by the mainstream, so I've become something of a gem hunter, always looking for new and interesting games I haven't heard of.

Some of my favourite franchises are Mystical Ninja, Tales, Choro Q, Wonder Boy, Puyo Puyo, Monkey Island, Mega Man, F-Zero, Pokemon, Smash Bros, and Sonic.

In the real world, I'm a software engineer in my mid-twenties. Besides programming and games, I'm also a big fan of animation, game music, and I like to write and draw. In general, I like things that let people express their creativity.

I'm always interested in talking to people who are passionate about games or hearing about great games I don't know about yet. At least 10% of my collection is culled from various discussions about hidden gems and the like.
