Welcome back!

Hopefully the site is gonna look very different in a few months. Got a big site remake in the works!

Yeah, I wasn't even sure what the hell was going on at first...it took me easily 30-45 minutes to clear that section of the game because I had no idea what was going on or how to get through, because I'd never done it before in that version so I had no idea how the layout was done. It's similar to the DS/SNES versions, but not the same so it was a challenge, to say the least.

That's exactly how I felt about the graphics myself. They are completely true to the SNES version sprites, just added a 3D flare and it looks absolutely amazing. I wish so badly that that was how every remake was done. The game is almost exactly the same as the SNES/DS versions...it just looks a hell of a lot more pretty. It's true to the source, and it makes it an amazing remake for an already amazing game.

Minus the lack of Deborah (Who always felt tacked on to me honestly), it's almost exactly the same gameplay wise.

There's some weird camera bug on Mt.Evil (Zugzwagz or whatever it's called in the US translation), when you're at the peak where Martha is, the camera is under the mountain for some reason, and it makes it excessively difficult to navigate (It's on my Stream videos somewhere, I could highlight it if you wanted to see).

Other than that, however, the graphics are superb. I mean, it's clearly PS2 graphics, but the way they did them...it's some of the best monster sprites and animations I've ever seen out of the system. It's better than DQ8, which had some decent ones as well.

I'm not normally one to care remotely about graphics, but I can appreciate superb ones, and it really makes it the best remake. All it's missing is Deborah gameplay wise, and it has that one annoying bug, but outside of those two things, it's easily the best remake.

Highlighted the bug if you wanna see it: [Link]

I thought it did...but it doesn't. I checked out some guides, they do nothing. All they do is either in battle, they have like a 65% chance of wasting a monster's turn, and out of battle they attract more monsters. Outside of that they are useless. It really disappointed me to learn that, I spent a few hours spamming Feed on King Slimes only to find out that I'm wasting my time hours later.

Our talking about DQV put me back into the mood to play the PS2 one, if you haven't noticed my Now Playing. Thanks for that =P. It's the only remake I haven't yet, so now I'm getting that done thanks to you basically.

I wanted to do Hero, Son, Daughter, Regular KingSlime myself...I grinded at the Mini Medal King's area (Where you find them) for DAYS and never got one, after feeding hundreds of the bastards. The rates for getting monsters is far too low.

I think I was in the 35's when I beat the final boss with the same party, and I barely beat him. Got lucky with some crits and World Leaves and what not, so I would recommend being in the 40's before you try unless you have a lot of extra items sitting around. I know I used A LOT of MP restoration items throughout the battle. Everyone had like 3, and I didn't have more than 2 or 3 left when I finished. According to my progress note my Hero is 37, but it might be outdated, I'd have to boot up the game to check. I know I made one trip to the Bonus Boss and got slaughtered and then stopped playing.

That mountain is the final dungeon. You must have missed a path somewhere because I know that Ladja isn't the final boss =P

Also, I've hated those TNT boards ever since they added them to DQIII GBA. Someone in the Dragon's Den (DQ Forums) tested those things, they are 100% rigged, in every single game they are in. If there's a pitfall, -Dice/Moves, or anything like that nearby, you have like a 75-95% chance of hitting them. It's total bullshit.

"Finished on Mt. Zulzwang. Now what?"

Where is that? I don't remember the name to be honest, or I'd clue you in >_>

It honestly holds up a lot better than I thought it would! It's got a good sense of humor, and despite a few trademarks of the era, most of the game is at least passable by modern standards! I haven't finished it yet, but I can't imagine it taking any harsh turns for the worst or anything.

Hey man I've been good! Just been taking it easy and relaxing.

My understanding of Four Warriors of Light is it's a nice throwback to classic Final Fantasy (the original Final Fantasy anyway) and has a pretty robust item inventory system that some would say didn't need fixing in the first place. I was originally going to buy it this month, but I was too busy with Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume (which I really, REALLY recommend). I'll probably get it in November.

I've been practicing the whole buy one new game a month deal so I can enjoy a game and prevent a huge ass backlog from forming up. It's worked out so far! Have you played Castlevania: Lords of Shadow? If so, what's your impression of it?

Maybe sometime tomorrow or tonight if I'm lucky. I haven't had time to put much into it this entire week since my nephew was in the hospital. I stopped when you have to gather materials to restore the old base or whatever so you can unlock online.

I'll let you know when I'm done with it.

Dude I got it! Let's try to do some co-op sometime this week as I really want to try that out. Does the game use its own friend system?

Are you Wii enough to get Monster Hunter Tri? I might pick it up later this week! If White Knight Chronicle's online component has taught me anything, it's that online playing with other people is hella fun!

Of course, Phantasy Star Portable taught me the same thing

Yep, Shaq is finally getting in touch with our play style. He'll be good in the playoffs when we face Dwight Howard and company.

This is like a month or so late, but I finally have ad-hoc party up and running in my room. I bought a powerline ethernet adapter back in September, and it's worked out pretty fun thus far. No lag in any of my online Dissidia: Final Fantasy or Tales of VS matches. It's like I have a router in my room!

How are you doing?

Most of the time, no. I just find good fanart to use. Every once in a while I'll add some fancy text or make the image look different through Photobucket.

I see. I never used Lou much in MvC, but he's awesome in the Midnight Wanderers game.
