Yup, Vinchenz covered it pretty well. It's a hardcore action RPG with a really interesting take on death mechanics. After you die, doors opened and items taken remain as they were, but you do lose all souls, which are essentially both your money and experience. If you can get back to where you died, you can recollect them, but if not, what you lost is gone forever. So, you need to spend what souls you can while you can. So in many ways, it's not simply more forgiving or less forgiving than conventional games, it's just very different.

I'm pretty hooked on it, but it's going to take a lot of determination and dedicated time for anyone to make it through.

I saw the question you left Try4ce and decided to answer for ya.

Demon's Souls is NOT a Traditional JRPG. It's an Action RPG kind-of similar to Zelda but it borrows heavily from the Dungeon Crawler genre (like Diablo) and is an insanely tough game. You will die. A LOT.

Also, there is co-op, sort of. But you can only do it when you're dead. It's hard to explain but you'll probably play most of the game as a Soul (IE, Dead) but you can help out other plays/kill other players as a soul. Once you're done, you come back to life but don't cherish that moment for too long.

When playing, you can see the ghosts of other people play and it's kind-of cool. But you don't interact with them. People can also leave messages all over the place, which is quite helpful sometimes (like seeing a message that says "Safe Place" and then being torched to flames by a Dragon's fire breath). You will also see blood stains all over the place and when you touch them you can see how other people died.

It's a really fun game but it's NOT for everyone.
With so little time and so many games there is but one question...who would win in a fight, Link or Solid Snake?
