I actually never retired, but I believe when you retire a character you make a new one and they start with either better stats or more skill points. Also the level cap is raised from 60 to 70. I never needed to do it though, even with the difficulty of the bonus stratum.

Go for Cure III and Salve II on your medic. Cure III's cost goes down as you skill it up, so at it's max it's the cheapest and best heal you can have.

I believe the level cap for characters is 60, unless they're made from a retired character in which case it's 70. I didn't hit 60 until the 6th stratum, but I think you're good deal higher in level than I was at that point in the game.

You have pretty much the standard party. I wouldn't drop them for a Ronin or Hexer. I did make a Ronin to get a couple of special drops, and I also made a Troubador for some fights in the bonus stratum, but for the main game you won't need them probably.

Biggest piece of advice is to get your Protector's Defender to max and your Medic's Immunize to max. The Immunize skill is incorrectly translated, it's not an elemental buff, it's just a raw defense buff like Defender. If you layer those two buffs hardly anything can touch you. Protector should also get level 5 in all three anti element spells if you plan on doing any endgame stuff.

Your Alchemist won't have enough skill points to max all three elements, so I would concentrate on Fire and Ice. Most of the later FOEs and bosses are weak to those two rather than lightning.

Your Survivalist will end up being your main damage dealer. Max Bows, Apollyon and Multi-hit. Maxing the skill that increases your chance of a preemptive attack can also make life easier.

As for the Landshark, both swords and axes are good. I used swords most of the game for All-Slash and the elemental chaser attacks. Switched to axe at the very end for the bonus stratum boss.

Mage's Tower first-- you want to recruit Wynne for healing. After that it's less stringent but I recommend Redclife -> Brecilian Forest -> Orzammar

Hotel Dusk was great. I wish I could relive it by watching it over your shoulder. Or I suppose I could replay it, but I find myself never replaying games these days (only Resident Evil 5 like 14x...)
