Still at a roadblock in regards to how to handle romhacks Like is FF1 Remastered that fixes bugs and some quality of life improvements a sufficient romhack enough to be placed in an entirely separate spot, or is it good enough to keep in Nintendo section?

Stuff like that occupies my mind sometimes.

= Progress Note: Dragon Warrior - Part 5 'Return of the Slime' =

Snuck into Dragonlord's castle. Ran from every fight.
Finally found Erdrick's sword!

Used OUTSIDE to escape, and then escaped from every fight until safe.

Walked over to Cantlin to grind on enemies for Gold, leveled up to 13! Earned enough to buy Silver Shield - Lacking a Magic Key...

Had to travel to Rimuldar just to buy a stupid key so I can UNLOCK THE ONE STORE THAT SELLS MAGIC KEYS, AND SILVER SHIELD.

Finally, Silver Shield is mine..

Finally Lv 14! The silver shield helps... but not by much.
Hopefully with this level up, I'll be stronger.

---

AH!

MY FIRST METAL SLIM-
" The Metal Slime attacked before Talamh was ready!
Metal Slime chanted HURT...
Thy Hits decreased by 2! "

Oh it's on bitch!

YEsssss!

115 Experience Points!

Finally Lv 15!
Learned Repel

Bought Broad Sword.

" I hast waiteth a long time for someone like thee. Take the treasure. "
" You got Stones of Sunlight! "
" You got no business here. Go away. "
Senile old man..

Explored the tomb, looted the harp, traded the harp, found the flute, fought 3 Goldmun's in a row and beated them all, nearly got destroyed by stronger enemies, grinded til I was Lv 12, ran from every encounter and also, ran in the wrong direction but the benefit of that was that I could snatch Erdrick's Token first before heading to Cantlin. Defeated the Golem with the power of chain-sleeping by playing a flute tune so bad it put it to sleep!

Entered the town and realized I was at least 1800 to 6000+ gold too short for the stuff I wanted. Contemplating to save up for the shield and then dodge enemies until I can snatch Erdrick's Sword, and then either go for Dragonlord early or grind enemies until Lv 17 for HEALMORE spell... We'll see.

= Progress Note: Dragon Warrior - Part 3: Surprise Dragon =

Decided to head south now to find stronger enemies with more gold worth such as GOLDMUN! In the dungeon, I mistepped to the right and SURPRISE! GREEN DRAGON! He hit me between 14-27 and I'm disappointed to say that I cheesed it with save states. Oh well, whatever. It's not like I'm streaming it anyway or so, I'm just playing through it casually.

But the fight wasn't hard overall. A combination of SLEEP and HURT spell won the day. Hitting him normally with my hand axe was just 1 DMG so that was a no-go. The HURT spell hit on average for 8, occasionally 12, and 5. The Dragon has around 75 HP at max in the NES version so, it was over fairly quickly.

As opposed to heading east like before, I decided to head west where I found the town of.. something. It seems to be a light-almagolation of Town 1 & Town 3, so this must be Town 2. Reason for my change in direction is hoping to acquire the Edrick's armor early.

Bougth 3 Torches, 1 Herb.

---

Found & defeated a Metal Scorpion by continually sleeping it.
When it woke up, it hit me for 13 to 14 damage.

Then I found a GOLDMUN!
Could not sleep it, had to run away.
Immediately another one! Ran away again.
And hten a Wolflord! I better go back and rest.
And buy more Herbs...

Bought 6 Herbs ( 24x each ) and 1 Dragon Scale to increase my Defense ( +2 DEF, 20 gold ).

---

Near the town, got accousted by a Wraith.
It hurt, but I escaped on Round #2.

---

- Took 1 step, encountered a Wyvern that hit me for 22 and instantly killed me...
... savestate.. The game seems hellbent on not letting me reach the town as it just..
Overwhelms me with encounters.. Made it by taking one step at a time... Now to fight it..

---

A hundred re-loads later, I finally kept the Axe Knight asleep while I killed it.
The primarily reason for Erdrick's Armor so early is to avoid bothering with the gold for all stuff.

---

Beating the Axe Knight took me to Lv 8.

Lost count on actual deaths because of save stating but, it was many.
But the official count is still on 2.

Update #1
Grinded Blue & Red Slimes, then Drakee's, and now Magicians for the gold! Current Lv 6. Died to Scorpion when miss-pressed on run instead of Heal.

- - - - -

Update #2
Skeletons are a pain whenever they appear. They can be beaten using HURT. I guess it's basically mocking them that they're dead ?_? What a bully! Reached Lv 7, learned SLEEP, now Skeletons are more manageable!

I could potentially now go and get Erdrick's Armor early like in the Speedrun ...

- - - - -

Update #3

I was able to afford the Hand Axe for 560 gold. Interestingly enough, I had to actually have 560 gold in order to buy it, allowing the store to buy my copper sword for 90 gold. I seem to recall this being differently in the previous town ..

I've started to try and grind skeletons more seriously due to the sweet cheddar that is the gold they give, but their hit points of a round 25 and hitting for 8-9, is cause of concern ( My max HP is 40 ). I lost around half my gold when I died again - from 380'ish to 182..

Total Deaths so far: 2
