Have you seen that new E3 footage for Bloodstained that Lazy posted yet? There's a boss fight featured in one of them that looks like IGA could be bringing another historical "vampire" into play. Namely the blood countess Bathory.

You know something... I may just be forgetting something, but how the hell did Poe get out of that Workshop anyway?! And how did those punis get in?! In both cases, the Azoth would be needed... I can't remember right now if one of the Workshops had a cracked door or wall...

Indeed it has! And what a glorious time it is

Playing Sophie also made me want to play it again asap.

Truth be told, the story aspect of Sophie's game left me feeling like they dropped the ball like an anvil. I don't want to drop any big spoilers, since I don't know if you're planning on ever playing it, but the game started off really promising. Even the old charm was there to an extent. I mean all it needed was peppier music non-stop and of course the long awaited return of the fairies XD Maybe the mana, too, but not like how it was done with Wilbell. It would have really been a blast from the past, and there were a lot of things that seemed drawn from AI2 among other pre-3D Ateliers. But... the story was way too focused in on Sophie and Plachta with some character development for the others, but no real story beyond that. It was kind of like AI3, but even more tightly focused. The story that they will likely use to continue into Firis is paper thin at best in Sophie, and though I can see it panning out into something great, the lack of anything more than a teaser in the first offering was seriously underwhelming, considering said story was truthfully the only major issue holding the game back.

Plus, I'm starting to think that maybe my judgement of the newer Ateliers is clouded by the lofty standards of old. Where the newer offerings are good, but not on the same level. They just seem to be lacking that special charm the series used to have, and I think that's largely due to the soundtracks/music style change. The new music isn't bad, but if definitely does not have the same energy/vibe as the old stuff. Which is funny, since Ar no hit that charm nail dead on the head.

And so, as Felt did, I answered the call XD

I didn't really think much of the AT1 novel, truthfully. I knew more or less what happened already (I'm sure I read a summary or something) and Lyner's character never captivated me. Radolf probably benefited the most from it, considering how the series does its best to forget about him later on.

So that leaves the AT3 novel and... well, I knew a lot of what happened there too, but I liked it a lot more. Tyria was depicted as having a happy ending but there was a pretty obvious big problem with that, so I'm glad she was given a proper conclusion. The Problem with those two novels is that they in their attempts to throw everyone from Gojo to Spica in, they just made me want more, haha.

Other thoughts:
-Jack will make a fantastic mother.
-Sasha probably solves too many of the world's problems. I know she's an adorable super genius but she's used as a convenient plot device.
-Non-committal endings everywhere. Well, they handled it decently for Croix/Aoto, the problem was Lyner. It's been HOW MANY YEARS and they're still clinging on like that?! ...Funbun ending confirmed.
-Why is everyone wearing the exact same outfit. Change your clothes you gross people.
-Tyria is probably wondering why she's obsessed with a person named Spica.
-I like how Cynthia's only role is to visit Croix.
-The true missed opportunity of the entire thing was that Aurica's cooking wasn't brought up. She's world famous not for her orgel spinning skills but for her BBQ Soda. She ought to be making bank on that!
-The way Tyria went was pretty horrible and I feel sorry for Frelia.

Thanks, it was pretty good! I have to say that SoTN definitely lived up to its reputation as being at the top of the heap in the series for me. Though, I'm not sure which game I'd put right at the top, SoTN is definitely way up there. That sword that lets you do a massive amount of slashes non-stop is so awesome and perfect for a vamp to be wielding. It was like walk in room, spam attack button, and watch everything fall near instantly XD Bosses included XD I didn't use the shield trick too much, 'cuz it's just not as badass imo. Excellent game all around.

I guess they either both lean that way with their style or there is some kind of behind the scenes inspiration, perhaps going both ways between them. Do we know if they've ever met before?

True. I was getting a Folklore vibe off of No Night at first, but the music basically dispels that as limited to the visual and gameplay aspect. That's not really a bad thing, though as I think Folklore & CV's styles go well together. I think it is interesting that Gust has been venturing further into darker territory with their games in recent years.

You're welcome! I hope it was an awesome day for you!

Hmm, you've got a point there. Shikata's songs always give me an other worldly feel whenever I hear them, as do Yamane's compositions, and it's surprisingly similar how that 'feel' is between them despite there being no obvious collaboration between the two of them. I think this could be further extended to Gust now (to an extent), as the intro for Melicious Roses in No Night definitely sounds like it could have been composed by Yamane.

Ah, I see…
I haven't read past the very early parts of the Terminate Pack in his summary yet, on the possibility that my split save might work. But the ending sounds a lot like I thought it would. I like it, but it's also crushingly sad right at the end, like you said. Of course, there's little else they could have done there since we know what happens after. On the plus side, since we already know what happens after that and played AnS, we know that the promise to her was made good on~ We can at least know that things turned out well for her in the end ^_^[/quote]
