Thank you! Indeed I am! I've actually not played nearly as much of the series as I'd like, but the games I have played I really liked with the exception of the one on the Gameboy which I thought was a bit of a clunker. Curse of Darkness is really good though, it's pretty grindy which I always get a kick out of lol.

I see you've got Metal Slug on your Now Playing, good choice! I absolutely love those games. Did you hear about the new tactics-based one that is supposed to be coming out? I'm really looking forward to that. ^^

Yeah, my plan to pick up some FC titles semi-blindly seemed to turn into just picking up some of the most well known games imaginable. ^^;; Nah, this is just a pretty bad year to order stuff like that from JP. Everything except lettermail is cancelled for JP -> CA.

Oh yeah, I didn't actually realize it until checking just now, but Lifeline never even got a PAL release, huh? So I guess in theory if you were to play it you'd need an NA copy, which is indeed somewhat expensive right now. I've noticed that horror games are usually a lot cheaper in PAL, but I was going off of that. I suppose accounting for all of the different accents you find in Europe and trying to make the voice recognition accurate would be next to impossible -- the game has enough trouble with just American English.

Is your PS2 even hardmodded to play NTSC games? Your best bet for original hardware is probably to get a FreeMCBoot memory card off of eBay and then just load the game off of a burned DVD or via ethernet through OPL or something, I'd say.

Yeah, La-Mulana is an interesting one to play through because I think the game is really designed to play completed as a sort of community project... So going at it solo I think you'll just get stuck eventually since some of the puzzles and progression gating is so opaque and difficult to keep track of. I think overall the remade version is better, but I'm fond of the original game too, so it would be a cool extra if they had included it. Or even better if it was like a graphical toggle. The original soundtrack *is* included, actually.

I don't think Konami was ever involved with La-Mulana whatsoever. Playism and NIS America have been responsible for publishing most recently, and I think a different company helped with the WiiWare. I have to imagine that Nigoro has full rights to the original game, so I imagine not including it is mostly just them assuming that they wouldn't be much interest?

Oooh, Sly Racoon! That's a quaint title in comparison to the mouthful that it's called here! I'd say Sly 1 was probably my favourite of the Sly games for being more focused on it's core mechanics, and also the most atmospheric of the 3. Let's talk about it more if you end up sticking with it!
