Very random coincedence indeed. It was alright. I had heard a lot about it. The fact you could basically infinitely grind out experience on that one rooftop next to the skylight was kinda hilarious. And once you got situated with assault rifles and then energy weapons, or chainsaws and proton axes, everything was cake.

Just started playing Wasteland 2. More in line with what I thought the first game would be.

Defining Completion ▼

Just a quick note on defining completion - for my purposes (especially since I imagine this is mostly a vanity project), I define completion as having completed as much significant, narratively-interesting content in a game as is reasonable.

So all storyline content and all compelling side/bonus content, but not necessarily "true" 100% completion in all cases. In the case of RPGs, my primary jam, this typically includes bonus bosses accessible as part of the storyline and/or that don't require full playthroughs and dozens of hours of prep to defeat, but excludes hyper-difficult bosses or content that effectively requires replays or playing the game in a highly specific way that otherwise robs it of pleasure. So, basically, Demi-Fiend from DDS1, that sort of thing, accessing time limited or otherwise highly restrictive events (e.g. Excalibur 2) or replaying action rpgs on increasingly difficult settings just for the challenge of it (not that that's bad, I just don't need it to count for "full" completion.)

In other genres, this can shift a bit. So for something like a Stylish Action game (e.g. DmC), I would think completion could include multiple playthroughs trying out alternative characters and difficulty settings. But there's a limit to that, and I'm also not holding myself accountable to "achievement hunting" completionism, since I don't really have the attention span and by and large don't feel I need to achieve total mastery (whatever that means) of a game before moving on to another. So too with some post-game content, especially in very long games, if it's not really adding anything to the experience narratively or mechanically.

So if you're curious, that's how I'm thinking about this whole backlog completion project.
