Yeah, that's probably the way to go. Honestly, I've never had an habit of playing newly released games, even if I buy one it always takes me like 2 years to get around to playing them. It has to be something I really, really love like God Eater or Earth Defense Force. And well, the best way to enjoy games is to not think too much about them and just play whatever you feel like playing. Heck, I had a very long dry spell where I felt like I already beat everything I was gonna like, only recently I've been playing some more stuff besides gachas.

Most likely? Mana Khemia even has a psp version, so that one shouldn't be a problem for sure. PPSSPP is such a good emulator. The sequel psp port I think is jp only, but I recall an attempt to translate it at some point...? no idea if that really happened.

Atelier Iris gets better with every game honestly, 2 is a prequel to 1 and is more focused (I always thought of 1 like really easygoing). Atelier Iris 3 I think doesn't have any relation with the other 2, and it's quite more serious and depressing. Then Mana Khemia happens, which is just ULTRA depressing. lmao

tbh I'm mostly replaying iris because replaying at2 made me want to play iris 3 and listen to the battle theme, but I also really like 1's 2nd world map theme and welp here I am trying to complete it this time

Yep, that is true, which is also a good reason to just play untold instead. Although they forgot to add denuvo, so there's always that.

Blareot knows the list compulsion too well, so I added Switch Online to Switch Downloads, and I hate this, but until the category is added it's the best option.

I typically just file them with the Switch games. It's just simpler that way.

I still don't know where to put my Switch Nintendo Online games, since there's no section for them

I have no idea! I should be the only blareot around though, so feel free to add me.

I have a bunch of friends that have it and it feels both super cool and super annoying at the same time, the concept is really nice but the compatibility of games is a mystery until you try them. It's good that it has enough power to run newer emulators though, and you can apparently even play visual novels (if they want to work). I really miss handheld consoles, the switch sure isn't one even if they love to market it as such.

Should I? I haven't had a good look at it ever but it doesn't seem like my thing. Then again, I also thought yakuza was just a boring GTA ripoff by looking at screenshots alone, so iunno I could be wrong.

ah yup, the psp games all have the same gameplay, what I found boring in the 3rd game was the story and pacing, it's less about some overall story and more about worldbuilding and I just couldn't care that much about everyone before dropping it. It probably gets better later, but yeah...

the pc-98 version has different gameplay though, it's basically a strategy game like disgaea. If you ever see some gameplay you kinda start to understand some of the stranger decisions in the psp version, like why tf every attack has a limited range if you can't really move your characters; it's basically a very poor translation of the original system into a turn based RPG.

I kinda wish they translated the PC-98 version of a tear of vermilion instead of the PSP one, I can put up with the awful translation but the gameplay is just awful

that reminds me I never finished the 3rd one, it was so boring in general

Haha, yeah I got sick of that last stage. I'd like to pick it up again, and give it another chance. I thought the level design just got a little stale from stage 6 and on, but it ain't a bad game at all. The cutscenes and style is definitely what I like about it.

Oh, and as for Valis, I did play the original on TGCD, but it's been a while. Might've also tried out the MSX port, but MSX can't handle scrolling well. Isn't the SNES version of 4 like a cut down version in a way?

It's a charming game, so far! Love the quirky dialog and animations. I managed to get up to stage 4, I think, so I'll pick it back up tomorrow.

Yeah, it was a while back but I remember. Back when I needed help at a certain point in the game, you took my save file to see if you could figure out what the problem was. I think I ran into some kind of emulator bug at the time, so I later finished the game years later, after a second run. Lunar was such a great game. I'm definitely playing that fan translation when it's fully complete! Saturn Grandia, too. I never played Lunar 2, either, but I hear great things about it from Prophallus on here.

RPGs can certainly take forever to fully complete, sometimes, so I've been focusing on shorter, more fast-paced games in recent years. Typically, I'll mark a game when I'm fully satisfied with it, rather than going crazy with 100% achievements and all that, haha. Extra difficulties are especially something I don't usually bother with, unless it's a game I'm a big fan of.

Late response, but hope your year has been going okay so far.
