Great, great game. The accidental comedy gives it an extra pinch, but its real crowning achievement is finishing NG+.

It's only taken me four or five years, but I'm nearing the end of "Dragon's Dogma". I'm on NG+ and traipsing about Bitterblack Isle.

Edit: Now I've beaten it. It was among the best games I've ever played.

Started Dragon's Dogma more properly over the weekend. So, so, so much fun. It needs a bigger time commitment than the one I can currently give it, but the second I can, I'm there. Had this one battle with bandits at night...you have no idea.

Dragon Dogma's faux-Shakespearean dialogue is amazing. The game has been rather incompetent, so far, in a really charming way. I'm enjoying. This was always going to be a cult classic, I feel.

Ahhh, yeah! I can't wait! Hopefully I'll get the time to actually play it soon.

Confused: Playing 10+ games at once
I've given up trying to use this site as originally intended. The size of my backlog was making me play things in a way other than I actually wanted to, despite knowing full well that I would never ever be able to clear even a fraction of my backlog. Instead, I've marked almost everything I've not finished as null and just left recent purchases that I've not yet played, and the few games I currently specifically want to play, as unfinished/unplayed. Much more manageable! So basically I'm just using it as a catalogue for my collection, and as a record of what I have actually beaten.

I played the demo of WET back in the day and didn't think much of it. Have you been holding onto a copy all this time or are you just being masochistic and buying old turds from CEX?

That was a great review, you gave the game a chance instead of shitting all over it like everybody else.

Yeah I have no idea why i decided to play eat lead again (I had already beaten on the 360). It's a decent third person shooter I suppose.

Hahahaha. Calm down, dear.

I like Dragon's Dogma and am continuing to play it, but it can be fucking annoying at times.

Chasing a thief around a village in an early mission: fuck that.

Vomiting endless pieces of information on screen in its tutorial section: come off it.

Pawns never shutting the fuck up: YES I KNOW WOLVES HATE FIRE.

Escort missions: apparently always becoming available LONG before it's REMOTELY feasible for you to accomplish them, not that this is particularly articulated.

Exploring the Witchwood and demolishing the mist tokens: bollock off.

The witch kid herself: seriously? An over-sexualised teenage girl in the woods with a blank stare and vague comments? That's rubbish, UNLESS she's significant later and turns out to be a pawn.

Fighting flying magic enemies as a fighter: BAAAAAAALLLLS. I get that certain abilities / classes aren't useful in some contexts and that is INTERESTING. But making me run back and forth with FUCK ALL TO DO for minutes at an end while I wait for AI characters to accomplish something, anything is NOT FUN.

First trip to the Everfall: I remember watching you play this and I thought it was super cool. Playing it myself, it's less cool because it's less of a surprise and less novel that you have to just "fucking run!" All rendered worse by your useless fucking pawns getting themselves killed. I retried time and time again until I read online that you can just leave them behind and they'll teleport to the exit once you make it. Oh great, so that cheap shortcut that the developers obviously couldn't work around doesn't spoil the immersion and experience of a tense, cool moment at all.

Battle a group of bandits with my pawns and make it through a tough fight okay. Battle next group of bandits 30 feet down the road: dead in five seconds. What the fuck, Dragon's Dogma?

I really like a lot of elements of the game, and the combat is fun, the levelling seems interesting and flexible, the boss fights are great, there's loads to like... but the game is also really obnoxious at times.
