I actually don't know a whole lot of Japanese. I took a handful of courses a short while back - enough to pick up perhaps 100 or so Kanji, understanding of grammatical structure/particles, and the phonetic alphabets. So, basically right now I can navigate menus fairly easily and gather a *basic* idea of what it is that's going on. For the most part I use translated scripts and fanmade english patches. Only games that I've really played through without any assistance are Ys Origin, ZWEI II, and Miku. I've been trying to get into expanding my vocabulary, though - learning a few words each day.
