Phantasy Star Portable is a nice sequel of Phantasy Star Universe: Ambition of the Illuminus. It is a more stripped down version, with simplified menus, but it has more items and equipment than the previous games.
With a focus on Ad-Hoc multiplayer mode, it runs at a solid 30fps most of the time. A must play action RPG for people who like the MMORPG feel. 
Etrian Odyssey, a classic ruthless dungeon crawler (despite being the easiest of the series) where you take a part of 5 custom made characters on dungeon adventures.
It may not appeal to a lot of people, mainly because some of them don't like these unforgiving kind of games, or others complain about the rather basic battle mode, where it only shows enemies, like in Dragon Quest games.
Nevertheless, it is a good game that makes you think about strategies and builds.
