PAL is a region of games. There's NTSC and PAL. NTSC is the standard for games released over in the European countries (and some other not so european but not american countries.) In the meantime, NTSC is most commonly used for Japan or US. Long story short, the NTSC / PAL thing shows which region of the world the game is from. (Not originally, but the version you played)
