Steins;Gate is one of my favorite games (if you count VNs as a game of course), but its sort of hard to sell people on it because its incredibly long (I put 40 hours into it getting Platinum) and the first three or so chapters are sort of boring when going through the first time. If you get get past the 10-ish hours of those chapters though, you'll find one of the most engrossing stories in any game. I basically binged the game for a week straight doing every route, which is what I was doing in SG 0, at least until I renewed my FFXIV subscription, ha.

Ah that's a reasonable price. Wouldn't pay much more for it honestly. I'm not too big a fan of the PS3 controller either (especially the triggers), but surprisingly they are more durable that 360 controllers. Believe me, I know .

Oh yeah definitely, the games might need some kinda rework, but whatever they do, they are still quality games. I wouldn't mind them taking the Star Ocean 5 combat approach.. but make it work. Because I heard nobody liked that game, despite the combat looking so good. I think that could work for the franchise.

Grind endlessly? You mean like this [Link] ? I really need to get a life lol, but I enjoyed the game so much, I just felt like going on and on .

It has been a while hasn't it? That would be my only concern as well, because Xenoblade 2 looks nothing like the first game. I think it will be alright since Nintendo doesn't bring out less-than-average games that often, but it's a solid concern. I don't think Xenoblade Chronicles X was that greatly appreciated either, though I can't confirm that.

Happy late ring day ! Wish I could've commented on the exact day but my internet was a bitch .

Don't bother getting an Xbox 360 now. It has some neat exclusives, but none are worth getting a console for, especially when you already have a PS3. Unless it's 100 bucks or something, then I won't stop you . The console itself is great, and I love the controller, but the PS3 has the same games and even more exclusives than the 360 ever had.

Oh definitely, and they have created top tier games before. They will never be popular with the mainsteam audience, but I can also safely say that it never will be. But even the fanbase it currently has could use something mindblowing now. Berseria got a pretty good reception under the fans fortunately, but I don't think it's the next Symphonia or Abyss. I liked Malik myself the most, a wise old mentor with a good sense of humour. Though Pascal definitely wasn't bad either.

Take your time, Nep 3 is still my favourite Nep game so be sure to do everything you want to do before moving on .

Oh, they did? Then my fears are at a new low point, doubt they'll mess it up.

Thank you very much! 4 years already, time sure flies !

Ya, same here. Bought a ton of Sonic games on XBL when I had a small harddrive, and instantly learned my lesson. I use no emulators at the moment except for an NES one and sometimes a GBA one, but only for hacks.

It might probably be better if they take a small break when it comes to Tales. I still love and will love everything they bring out, but the stories themselves have become significantly less over the years. While Graces F is my favourite Tales game out there, I can't deny that the story is.. kinda shit. The characters aren't much better either.

Oh nice, let me know what you think of it later! Already convinced another Backlogger and he's pretty much in love with it right now .

Nintendo of Europe eh? Glad it isn't Treehouse at least I guess. I don't recall any of the games they translated, because they mostly handle European languages but I don't need those. Dutch is never part of it anyways. Guess I'll just wait and see, more British voice is always appreciated though !

To be honest, I got ludicrously lucky with Skies of Arcadia. There is a retro game store near where I live called Gameover Videogames, and they happened to have a copy...For 75 US dollars. They confirmed that I wouldnt get another chance anytime soon, and that the price would only go up, so I went for it. So the best I can recommend, is either consult online, or search retro game stores and pray.

They are on PSN too if you really, really want to play them, but if you want them physically, prepare to empty your wallet good. I try to emulate as less as possible, so I will remain on the lookout till I literally got nothing else to play.

Yeah, it was far more tolerable in the second game. I didn't really like the first game that much, but I loved the second game. Kind of a shame you have to play the first one to get to the second but eh. I liked Zestiria's characters, but not really because they were actual good characters, but because of their characteristics. Thought the story was pretty lame though, I personally dislike when they introduce characters that are 'invisible to the human eye' because like time travel, if it's done poorly, it sucks. It doesn't necessarily suck here, but I'm still not a fan of it.

That's a fair arguement, I wouldn't like playing this game on my PSP as well, at least not intensively. 3ds is a bit better for it, but I'm most comfortable with a controller attached to my pc. For Gurumin though, I think the chances are even more slim than the Trails in the Sky games to get a physical edition, unless counting the PSP version .

Treehouse is translating the game? That... does not sounds exciting at all. I like how it looks, but that is something I will keep in mind before purchasing the game. Though I should play the first Xenoblade first probably, but I'm going to have fun finding that game physically /sarcasm. Then again, I do not have a lot of knowledge about Xenoblade but 2 doesn't looks like a direct sequel to it. Only time will tell, have to get a Switch first anyways .

Mhm I know, but I can see where they're coming from. I've played a lot of JRPGs myself, but there are also a lot I still haven't played, so while I personally consider it the best out there, I know that there are also games that may be even better. Heck, I've never even touched a Xeno game before, or Suikoden. There are also a lot of Atlus games I haven't played yet. Life's too short for all these games . I'm playing Trails in the Sky 3rd first, so I might take the risk to wait for Zero and Azure to be translated first before I get to Cold Steel. Considering how long these games and the other games I want to play are, that might even be a safe bet .

I liked Zestiria I guess, but I really hated the direction Xillia went: big open roads between towns with literally nothing in them, and nothing memorable about them, but there are chests everywhere so I still need to check the whole road. I really hated that about Xillia, and it was my least favourite part of Xillia 2 which I'd otherwise consider one of my favourites. Zestiria did a better job at it with quite a few optional dungeons and the roads looking far more memorable, though the story in that game was just eh. Berseria looks a lot better than the both of them, but I'll have to play it before I can judge on that. The characters alone appeal to me very much though.

Gurumin is pretty fun so far. The story is nothing special so far, but it's more a gameplay focussed game anyways. And the main character is a cocky little girl with a drill who has a dickish response to everything. I kinda like that . The gameplay itself is pretty fun, kinda like the later Ys games really with a bit of Zelda added to it. If you can get it for a nice price, definitely a recommendation. It's also on the psp in case you're interested.

Do you think Berseria is worth checking out for someone who didn't dig the Xillia games? I figured I'd be done with the series after disliking those two but I'm weak when it comes to JRPGs I can play on PC.

That's true, our backloggery meter will never decrease at this rate.. Oh well, one man can hope I guess. A lot of people consider the Trails series to be the best JRPG series out there, and TitS2 the best JRPG ever, so the support is there. The question only remains if they'll actually make profit bringing it over here, since the fanbase is pretty niche and since the Trails series are known for their extensive world building and dialogue, I can imagine translating costs being very high.

I am still planning to get Berseria, probably as a summer game this year. Just can't find the time for it, or I have another game with more priority around. New Neptune game coming to Steam soon, and there are still 2 spin-offs I haven't played yet. Cold Steel is also coming to Steam, which seems to be an enhanced version as well, so I'm conflicted as to what version I should play. And then there's TitS3, which I also can't wait to play. Long story short, gonna be busy with all my JRPGs .

Oh hell yeah, can't give this game enough praise. Some of the best world building and character development out there, and a great battle system that provided me with some of the most intense boss battles any JRPG gave me. Also a great OST but eh, it's Falcom, that's almost a guarantee. I love this game so much, that after playing I immediately wanted to return, even though the game took so long to finish. But eh, there's always the third game amiright .

Don't count on a physical edition or collection of all 3 for a while though. It is a wonder we even got the third game over here, though I am very glad the niche fanbase was able to make it happen.

Guess it's pretty obvious I like Futaba a lot, ha. Definitely high on my priority list of things to get this year. All the games I really wanted this year already came out so I don't feel bad for spending the rest of my game money on an expensive figure, especially if its as nice as that one.

Mhm yeah, it kinda stays grindy and repetitive, though a bit less with every sequel. The jokes and characters are the main attraction though, but I'm sure you already noticed that. I mean, Megadimension is partly just the real-life story of the rise and death of the Dreamcast, they've just hidden it under a Neptunia story .

Sidequests giving you grief? I haven't had much trouble with them until the very end, with some of them being very arduous intel collection stuff. As a whole I felt like they were better than the ones in Nier, if not only for the virtue of Automata being more engaging to play.

Persona is absolutely checking out despite the setting. They have some of the most satisfying character writing in any RPG I've played, and they have some of the best turn based battle systems around (with the battle system being a variation on SMT3's battle system, which is *the best* battle system ever made). Music is also really good but that might be something you wouldn't be into, it tends to be a lot of J-pop styled stuff.

Basically if you were down with the school setting in Trails of Cold Steel, you'd be down for it in Persona, since ToCS basically just borrowed that aspect from Persona (albeit a bit less streamlined in execution).

You're in for something really special with Automata. I legitimately think its one of the best games to come out within the last 7 years, and has an incredibly high possibility of being my favorite game to come out between 2010 and 2020. I thought Persona 5 would be the end all be all for me but I have a hard time imagining even that surpassing Automata.

Not to overhype it, but ya know

All of them are great games, especially if you don't mind Japanese culture too much and are a gamer of old, though I'm sure that last one is a given. And they're not too long for JRPG standards either (when focussing on just the main story), so that's an added bonus I guess . Tell me what you think of them later, Nep slowly became one of my favourite franchise in these past few years!
