I really adore the overall art style of this one. Also seems to be a solid 2D Mario game so far.

One less reason to own a Wii U... lmao. Been trying to make progress on this one on and off for a while.

Minion of Bak'laag: 100+ unfinished games
Treasure Hunter: 1000+ games
Poisoned: 3+ new games in a row
I kinda want to do something a bit different for me; talk a bit about some of my personal gaming highlights from the past year. None of these are in any particular order.

Metroid Prime Remastered
This surprise remaster was released during a rough time in my life, so this actually served as something of an escape from reality for me. Absolutely gorgeous looking game, and it felt like I was seeing an old friend again. There's a few different control schemes to choose from: a new modernized scheme that lets you move the camera with the right stick, and two classic style schemes based on the Gamecube and Wii versions. I think this is still a great game that's worth experiencing, despite its age.

Kirby Returns to Dreamland Deluxe
Another remaster of an classic title. Given that its a Kirby game, you know it'll be worthwhile with extra goodies and such; two brand new copy abilities that are fun to use and fit right into the game, many classic subgames returned, and there's even a brand new epilogue starring Magolor that has some fun mechanics that I'd like to see become mainstream in a Kirby game. Probably one of my favorite Kirby games.

Super Mario RPG
An excellent remake of an excellent RPG. A lot of love and care was put into this one to keep it close to the source material while modernizing the game. There's even some new stuff sprinkled in to keep you on board, although all of this still shouldn't take more than 20-25 hours to finish. The action command system keep you invested during the game's turn-based combat sequences, and its honestly something I wish more RPGs of this category did. If you haven't played the original in a long time or you just want to know what the fuss is about, I'd strongly recommend this remake.

Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst
This one kinda feels like cheating. lol One of my all time favorite games. I've been playing on a fan server with my brother now that he's moved away, so it's been a great way to keep being able to play Phantasy Star together despite the distance. I never really got to experience the Blue Burst content before, so that's a plus.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder
I'll have to get some more time in with this one, but I really do like what I'm seeing with it so far. Cute visuals and fun 2D platforming action; it's a breath of fresh air compared to the last few New Super Mario Bros. games that just look samey and stale.

Absolutely I did; I had to pause the stage select screen, and they somehow managed to get EVERY ONE OF THEM. I'd seen the Homer Bossspider one before, but this one is a classic!

Shit, that was supposed to be a PM. Not a big deal, though.

I've just been slowly making my way through my lists of extra stuff, and I'm on Playstation, as you've seen. Symphony of the Night data transferred just fine, so that's not on the replay list. But yeah, that thing is fucking BROKEN; Shaft dies pretty quickly, too. That said, Symphony of the Night is one of the few games where Death isn't a complete asshole; he's relatively easy compared to just about any other game except Simon's Quest and Rondo of Blood.

Is that butt metal? I don't know my subsubgenres that well, but I always thought that was speed metal. I thought butt metal was Devil May Cry stuff. 🤷‍♀️ Kept me screaming at those FUCKING attack donuts, at least.

DAMN! That goose might be a swan in disguise; what an asshole! I wonder if they were near its nest or something; usually they don't come BACK after you like that.

Thanks! Been a hell of a long road, but I'm finally here! GOG's probably gonna be a real bitch on wheels, but I'm ready for it. The avatar's hair color is actually fairly close to my own... minus all the grays, of course, but imagine I'm a teenager; I've been going gray since at least my mid-20s.

Apparently, the dude composed EVERYTHING for SEGA, and did a lot of work for Nihon Falcom, and that's a damn respectable pedigree! As for Ms. Shimomura, she composed that song that goes with everything, so her cred is solid; I don't even hold Kingdom Hearts against her.

Thanks! Despite the fact that my page looks like a fucking ghost town, I was spending it with video games. Those 200+ soundtracks (yeah, so I found some FM versions of SMS soundtracks, and I remembered that they're neat to listen to in the Winter) that I panic-grabbed was something I worked on quite a bit, knocking out all 7 of my Game Gear soundtracks. Ninja Gaiden and Megami Tensei Gaiden: Last Bible were total busts, but I have a nice selection from Aleste 1 & 2, Shinobi 1 & 2, and Sylvan Tale. The Alestes sound almost like something Kemco would've put out on the NES, but after mountains of cocaine, and while listening to the Shinobis, I had this moment of, "Sounds kinda like Legacy of the Wizard... Wait... Is this composed by Yuzo fucking Koshiro!?" And sure enough, it was. I'm really starting to gain an appreciation for his work lately; his and Yoko Shimomura's.

That and I did a dumb thing. So, if you've been stalking me on Steam, you might've noticed that I very briefly played something called World of Islands. It's a really neat premise: explore different islands searching for treasure in a JRPG setting. It's like a dream come true! ...aaaand it was really unfinished. So uh... I uh... kinda... offeredmyservicesasawriterandheaccepted. So, I did the thing, and now, I'm writing a script for it. I'm excited for what it could be, and I hope that it gets off the ground.
What is a backlog? Just a miserable little pile of games!
